We booked for one week and were so happy here that we extended for a second. This really is an idyllic place, an old manor house with bungalows set in beautiful gardens. What really sets this hotel apart though is the family who run it and their team. Nothing was too much trouble and their kindnesses were everywhere: invitations to supper with the family when the restaurant was closed, trips to harvest cactus fruit, visits for our toddler to the farm animals on the premises inter alia. The warm embrace of this family is a real treat. The food is superb. I highly recommend this. We will certainly be back.

I cannot stress enough what a wonderful and unique place this is, even the little town of Bonarcado alone. We knew right as we were driving up! We had just come from a very bad hotel indeed (in Sassari) after a B&B owner did not show up for our reservation (in Porto Torres) and Sa Mola soothed out very souls! Very traditional and set within a deep faith, this town is so small and quiet that it has an almost eery quality initially. Upon check-in, we realized that as little Italian as we spoke, so little English did they speak at Sa Mola. And you know what? It was a delight! For these folks were so gracious and kind that it did not matter whether we spoke the same language or not. We are world travelers and this is the very experience we look for. I wish I could remember the name of the gentleman that showed us our room and how to use our key, he was so sweet! We had a few hours before the dinner hour so we walked Bonarcado and, lo and behold, a Mass started that emanated through the streets from the church at the top of the hill. We are not Catholic, but to see the old ladies and gentlemen coming out to their porches to hear the Mass, and the remainder up at the Basilica, attending Mass, we became very aware of how precious this Mass is to the town and it filled our hearts. We went back to our room to get cleaned up for dinner. We had a huge room! You walk into a sitting area with daybeds and fridge... then there is a bathroom... and a bedroom. Lots of space for the two of us! Now these rooms are clean... but for those of you seeking a typical hotel feel, this is not it (we found it charming, others may not). It is so quiet, you can hear the birds in the morning and that is ALL, so lovely. We ate at Sa Mola, we wanted to anyways, but it seemed the only place TO eat in Bonarcado! Lo and behold, the same man that showed us our room was also our server during dinner! What service! He helped us with the menu, he poured the wine, he made salad dressing for us for our insalata mist. This is REAL, country-style food, we adored every bite! We went back to our room and slept the best night all trip. The next morning, we had breakfast, they had pastries that were homemade and by far the BEST cappuccino I had the whole trip. The woman who checked us out spoke a little English and it was nice chatting with her, she told us she loves animals far more than people (I tend to agree) and God even more. To all at Sa Mola: GRAZIE!!! We had an amazing time and hope to come back someday. Thank you, thank you! A wonderful night's sleep, an even more wonderful dinner, and a delicious breakfast... plus the best service you can imagine, all for 129 euro.
