“Excellent meal ”

We were staying with friends nearby and visited to have an authentic sardinia meal. The food was excellent and the service was just as good. We were served several courses and left feeling well fed on a typical sardinia dinner.

We spend here one week the last four years with two small children when travelling to Corsica and Sardinia, and we will certainly go back next year. We never slept so well, hearing nothing else than the sound of crickets. The rooms are located in separate small houses build in traditional Sardinian style around a large Swimming pool with a fantastic view on the lake. We had two separate bedrooms, a small living room, a dressing a clean bathroom a good airconditioning, and a nice terrace The view from the terrace of the restaurant is even nicer. In the evening you get served a tasteful delicious never ending flow of appetisers, pastas, main courses and deserts, served with delicious local wines, all for a very fair price. The food is typical Galurian, prepared with local ingredients grown on the domain of the hotel and freshly picked every morning by the owner. Even the Vermentino (the local wine), the mirta and the grappa are home made, and the hotel has its own vineyard. The people who are running the agriturismo are very nice and helpful. The hotel is centrally located, close to the coast and wonderful cities like la Maddalena, but since the hotel is located in the mountains, the temperature is mostly milder and less hot than at the coast . The near city of Tempio is as charming and authentic as the hotel, with its historic centre in typical Galurian Style, and almost no tourists. This is definitely the best place to stay in the north of Sardinia of you want to get away from overcrowded beaches and tourists

The hotel is beautifully appointed in wonderful gardens & enjoys a stunning view of the surrounded hills and lake. Our bedroom was big & very comfortable, with a small fridge & a veranda where we could enjoy a drink, read a book in peace or simply relax on the rattan sofa while enjoying a great view. Keeping the window open kept the room cool in the evenings as the air-condition had a mind of its own & wasn't working well. For us this was a minor problem as everything else was excellent. The staff were very friendly & were helpful at giving us directions/recommending for some lovely places to visit. Lela, the young lady who works at the restaurant is a great character & is eager to always please the guests. The dining room veranda enjoys stunning views from where you can hear the sheep bells as the sheeps move to their nesting ground for the night. Prior to booking I've read some very negative comments & I couldn't disagree more. This beautiful hotel doesn't only rest its laurels on the location, but on its staff and service it provides. Is very clean, there is great parking space, has a beautiful & clean pool with umbrellas for shade, it offers a good choice of breakfast - fresh fruits, cream croissants, choice of cheeses , salamis, hams, boiled eggs, jams, eggs & of course Italian coffees. As for the dinners, they were divine. We booked half board ( a 4 course dinner) and Mario the chef didn't disappoint. Day after day, we tasted the most amazing pasta dishes -some like the ravioli was made by him and the sauces were made by his own vegetables and cheeses. The antipasti were delicious & meat course were always tender, full of flavour & with a delicate aroma of Sardinian herbs but never felt heavy. The portions were extremely generous & Mario seemed very appreciative of our feedback & although he can't speak English, Lela did the translation & with my poor Italian I just about managed to show our appreciation of their hard work in the kitchen. I don't think we could have eaten so well in any restaurant for that amount of money. After a long hot day on the beach/sightseeing , the last thing we wanted was trying to find a restaurant that serves more than just a pizza. So I strongly recommend to make use of the half board option. Is simple Sardinian ingredients but greatly cooked. If one is expecting Michelin star refinement & tiny portions, then Sardinia simply isn't for you! Don't forget to get a map, as we' ve heard from other travellers that GPS doesn't always show the location of the hotel. We only had a map & by following the road numbers/ towns on the road signs is very easy to get about. If you fancy an early evening coffee somewhere a bit more lively- go to the nearby village of Calangianus. In the central square we enjoyed a café sachierato (ice coffee) & some great ice cream. Also there are 2 ethnographic museums nearby- one in the village of Luras ( get the receptionist to ring them prior to your arrival as it opens only on demand) . The guide explained us a lot about the local history & the particular custom of 'Femina Agabbadora' - the local way of euthanasia that has its roots in ancient times & was last practiced at the start of 20th century. The second museum is bigger and it can be found in the beautiful village of Aguus about 28 klm west. There is some exquisite displays of local artefacts & looms & you can find about the way of life in the earlier times & there is also a museum shop where you can find locally made jewellery, terracotta, books & other bits & pieces. Overall our stay in this rustic hotel was one of the best holiday choices we've made. Thank you Titsiana, Lela & Mario for your hospitality & hard work. Keep it up.
