2 bed apartment was basic but adequate for our needs, the view from the balcony was amazing! The complex was very clean with pool (swim APS required) a beach garden and beach. We were given bands to wear in our wrists on checkin, apparently to prove to staff we were allowed to use the facilities. We removed them after a couple of days as they looked rather cheap and were never challenged. Plenty of loo rolls & shampoo, a blessing as I’d forgotten ours. No WI-FI in the common area’s in the Residence (pool/bar garden) only in Hotel Posatta across the road! This and that checkin is at the hotel reception needs to be made clear. The apartments are a short walk into the harbour & town with plenty of restaurants, our favourites being Aglio&Oglio for food and IL Grillo for live music. Bus station and ferry also with 10 mins walk.

“The location makes up for very poor air con.”

We stayed in Club Esse Capo D'Orso, the apartment section of Club Esse Posada. The positives were the location, direct access to a lovely beach, and access to both the pools in Capo D'Orso and the one in the hotel Posada. It was a short (500 metre) walk to the marina with restaurants and shops. The apartment was spacious but dated; the kitchen was grubby; the extractor fan was very dirty; there was a broken integrated fridge still integrated; there was a freestanding fridge in its place. The pipe under the bathroom sink was leaking; reception dealt with this quickly. The air conditioning was very poor, it barely cooled down the living area. When we complained, the reception staff were not helpful and shrugged their shoulders. The apartment was uncomfortably warm. We have stayed in various mobile homes and safari tents in extreme heat in other parts of Italy over the years with excellent air con. We assumed an apartment would be superior but not in this case. It was the main disadvantage to an otherwise enjoyable holiday in a fabulous location.

The swimming pool wasn’t open for the whole week, there are no facilities, so no bar or food shop. No beach towels. Beach is very close, walking distance and it’s beautiful. Apartment (ground level 2 bed villa) was clean, had comfy bed. Second bedroom was very tight but fitted 2 singles joined together and had a wardrobe. Normally a bunk bedroom we thought. Units in kitchen and bathroom a bit tired but worked very well. No kettle! Easy, flat walk into town with plenty of eating and drinking options. Ferries to La Maddalena Archipelago go from Palau and was definitely worth the trip - absolutely stunning. Eat at Zi Anto in La Maddalena - delicious food, wonderful staff and the most idyllic view.
