Lovely peaceful retreat with the most amazing views. Delicious food - tasting menu was outstanding as was the breakfast and also the bistro - the food at Petra is exceptional. The food and service at Petra is definitely 5 star. Very rustic rooms so don't expect 5 star luxury, and don't expect white fluffy towels, but very clean and comfortable beds. Lovely friendly staff. Hellish road up to the resort so be mindful of oncoming traffic. San Pantaleo is a beautiful village and well worth a visit. Tip: take a plug in insect/mosquito repellent - housekeeping leave windows and doors open whilst cleaning and the pesky things get in.

High up in the hills above Olbia with magnificent views over the islands and sea. Each room is private, discretely placed and built into the granite hill side - designed by the owner who is an architect and can be regularly seen in the hotel. There are 3 restaurants. One with a Michelin star (Secreta Fuoco), one roof top restaurant and one near the pool. Totally isolated with nothing nearby - absolutely quiet, no traffic noise or airplanes. The staff are very helpful and friendly, particularly Francesco on the front desk and Giuseppe plus others in the restaurants.

Petra Segreta is a premium five star hotel with the ambition to deliver outstanding service, hospitality and accommodation. Overall, this is a well-run hotel. This said, I would not give it a five star rating here. The reasons are: - While the venue is very beautiful, embedded in nature and with a wonderful view over the landscape and down to the sea, the rooms are overall rather small with little space to walk around the bed and very little storage room for for clothes and suitcases for a one-week visit. There was not even a proper wardrobe with doors and drawers. The furniture is ok but not at usual standard of a hotel in the price category. We had a pool suite. While the rooms were rather small, the terrace and the pool were very nice and clean. Well done! - the restaurant service is very elegant and discreet. Not always efficient. Almost every day something was forgotten during our breakfast orders or mixed up with other tables. Overall, the idea of having an à la carte breakfast might be considered as premium. In the end it is just a hassle. Compared to premium breakfast buffets, the choice on the menue is extremely limited. They also offer three set breakfast menues but we realised that most guest tried it once (usually during the first day) and then switched to ordering specific items à la carte. Having to order every slice of bread individually is just ridiculous. - We once tried the Osteria restaurant for dinner. The food quality was rather average, nothing special while everything seems heavily overpriced. Paying almost 250€ for a two course dinner for two with no apéritifs and only one glass of wine and two bottles of water is not acceptable. We are always happy to pay appropriately for an outstanding dinner experience. No matter if in a Michelin star restaurant or in a simple bistro. Here, we almost felt ripped-off. Yes, We understand that you could possibly expect such prices in such a hotel. Ok. But then please deliver against your promises. One thing to mention is the 20€ Service fee for the in room dining. It’s ok for us to pay for the extra service. But when you order two simple burgers at 40€ each (!) it hurts to see that they charge you another 20€ on top. 100€ for two burgers delivered to your room? Good luck with future room service clients. That was a one-time experience for us. - Service: The staff at reception, check-in and at the restaurants is attentive, professional and technical does a good job. But it lacks a human touch. We did not feel like being at home and had the impression that the staff is genuinely stressed not to make any mistakes. It felt rather sterile and stiff. A human touch would not do any harm! We also felt that the staff is pushed to sell: Pushing for restaurant reservations and Spa visits… don’t worry, we would have booked regularly if the restaurant experience would have been better the first time. Instead we decided to dine outside for most of the week. A positive highlight was the housekeeping: friendly, efficient, and discreet. Thank you!! - Other: The hotel claims to have only 27 rooms. This should allow for a more personalised service. We were we still asked for our room number when being seated for breakfast, even after one week? Why isn’t there a system to read your car plate to open the gate automatically? Every time we arrived by car at the gate we had to call the receptionist and ask to open it. Bottom line: A nice hotel, but rather expensive. We recommend you avoid the restaurant (did not test the premium one). You will be bored by the breakfast after two days. Stay on your beautiful terrace, don’t order room service, have dinner outside. The rest will be a nice vacation
