We stayed here for 3 nights and it was perfection. We actually had plans to go to Taormina for dinners and other activities and we just couldn’t leave this luxurious resort. We stayed up on the hill in a private villa and the views were magnificent. It is very difficult to put into words but as a couple who reads reviews to decide where to stay Injust want to share how special Monaci is. They take you from your room to the main area and pool by golf cart and we never had to wait even a few minutes. We chatted throughout our stay through WhatsApp and it worked perfectly. We made dinner reservations and book a cooking class and wine tasting. They have vineyards and fruit trees and horses and chickens, it’s a paradise. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner here everyday. It is a perfect spot for couples, couples with kids, honeymooners or just people who want to be pampered by people who truly care that every moment of the day is special. If I could give it 10 stars I would. We will be back!

“Wonderful property in the Sicily countryside”

This outstanding property is stretched over acres of beautiful countryside at the bottom of the Etna volcano. This outstanding property is stretched over acres of beautiful countryside at the bottom of the Etna volcano. It is part of the Relais Châteaux collection, so you can expect 5 star service and amenities. Rooms and suites are spread across the property, in the middle of vineyards, lemon trees etc. The views are breathtaking, the staff is extremely helpful, nice and professional. A small downside is the under equipped gym which deserves an upgrade. I truly recommend this property as a starting point to the wonders of this region, or just for a calm and relaxing stay in the Sicily countryside.

“Needs work on physical plant and upgrade rooms…pool ….”

Physical plant needs work……pool not heated old….rooms dated our bathroom was missing tiles and wooden rot around the window…..at those prices you expect perfection…staff nice….food for dinner was ok but not one star….wine prices over the top ……

Everything about this hotel is wonderful, except the rooms (which is kind of a reason to stay someplace). The setting is beautiful; an expansive agricultural property with attractive terraced vineyards. The restaurant is outstanding; breakfast, lunch and dinner were great. The staff is outstanding as well, especially the concierge who helped with local activities. The pool is nice, with sea views. There are also good views of Etna. The rooms are spread throughout the large property, and golf carts are available to ride to your room is you don’t want to walk. The property’s buildings are generally quite old which generally works if updated properly - see Il Borgo, L’Albereta, Castello Banfi, Villa Cordevigo and Borgo dei Conti for just a few great R&C examples and Casali di Casole for an amazing conversion of old farmhouses. This unfortunately did not happen here. The room was large but seemingly furnished with uncomfortable garage sale rejects and plastic dining chairs Walmart would be embarrassed to sell. The bath was just OK except the shower was tiny and cheap with a slippery plastic floor. There are better showers in a Super 8. The mattress was hard as a rock and the only pillow choice was a hard thick foam one (“there are no feather pillows on the entire estate”). There were a lot of ants in the room; this is a bit of a challenge in a rural location but somehow Country House Villadorata managed it. We had to clean out cobwebs. A major disappointment, especially at this price point.
