For our first time in Catania, we reviewed many places and contacted Paola by email to make reservations. The prompt responses and answers to all our questions were appreciate. The charming family hotel lived up to our expectations. We loved the hotel location which is very well situated just around the corner from the Bellini Teatro, and is a 7 to 8 minute walk to the Piazza del Duomo and the main tourist attractions. Our room on the second floor was spacious for two with a comfortable queen size bed, high ceilings and a renovated spacious bathroom. The weather was fresh when we were there so did not need the a/c and enjoyed the partially open window. Breakfast is served in the lobby with excellent coffee to order and a more than adequate spread of sweet and savory dishes. In three days, we especially enjoyed the different baked focaccia that was served. Outside the hotel take a left up the road about 50 meters for a local bakery if you fancy a snack, or a mini mart for any essentials (water and beer). A few recommended restaurants are also with a few minutes walking distance that were great. We took a couple of day trips and were collected from outside the hotel and on departure we took a taxi to the bus terminal (it's close but did not want to deal with luggage) for our onward bus journey to Taormina. For a three star family run hotel we would return and recommend for the value in all aspects.

“Very good. Slightly outside the main tourist area so some authentic restaurants nearby”

A four night stay in one (or the only?) of the suites. We'll start with the only negative that means it isn't a five star review. The cleanliness wasn't perfect. A four night stay in one (or the only?) of the suites. We'll start with the only negative that means it isn't a five star review. The cleanliness wasn't perfect. Surfaces very dusty on arrival and not cleaned during our few days. Beyond that the suite was on two levels and great. Loads of space. A bathroom and a shower room, both of which were very modern. A door out onto our own patio/bit of rooftop with a table and seats. A real sun trap. The staff were mostly very nice and friendly and helped us with getting to know the area, providing a hairdryer etc. The breakfast was basic but a good mixture with some local delicacies each day. It's in a noisy bit of town with traffic, so perhaps not great if you are a light sleeper but the bed was excellent. Because it's away from the most touristy bit (which is still incredibly accessible) there are a couple of nearby fish restaurants that are frequented by some locals as well a visitors. Very reasonably priced. We would definitely stay again and were happy to see past the imperfections for an interesting, slightly oldy worldy hotel.

“Lovely small hotel”

Excellent choice for a couple of days in Catania, especially for the price! Nicely appointed room and bathroom, great breakfast, good location with easy access to many sites and transport options, and fantastic staff. At higher end of the 3-star range and a superb value. Definitely worth booking!
