“Nice but could be improved”

Just returned from a week holiday, 2 adults & a 2 year old. This is a nice hotel, but I do agree with some of the reviews stating it’s missing the smaller details which would make it feel like the 4 star it’s supposed to be. For example - there’s no tea/coffee in the room, snack bar is only toasties and croissants which become repetitive, evening meal times a little late for smaller children - would have helped if the snack bar had more options, no water left in the room and ice cream not included in the all inclusive. The biggest annoyance for us was the one drink per person rule. I understand wanting to police the all inclusive but when you have small children it’s not always possible to go to the bar together, even 2 drinks per person would help with this. It’s enforced by staff as and when they feel like it. I complained about this after seeing multiple people be given more than one drink, and was told it must have been a mis-understanding as staff are allowed to serve more than one drink, however when I explained it wasn’t as it had occurred at multiple bars by different staff members, I was then told the ‘general rule’ is 1 per person but if bar staff know you are a family you can order more, so the rules aren’t very clear and bar staff had no problems refusing us drinks despite me being a metre or 2 away. Also some drinks they won’t mix spirit with a soft drink so if for example my husband ordered a brandy, they would refuse to give him a coke. Just feel this is an unnecessary rule and just became a bit of an annoyance. In terms of positives, the buffet food is some of the best buffet food I’ve had, it is slightly limited though especially for children, but the pasta is cooked fresh infront of you, and all the al a carte restaurants were lovely. Wine and cocktails on the all inclusive are nice and it’s the first hotel I’ve stayed at where they give you a bottle of wine for meal times. The second pool is not as loud and more relaxing with the sea view. Bus to the town & beach are convenient and not expensive (bus to beach is free). The views from the hotel are lovely whether that’s the sea, or moutains. Yes it’s near to a main road but we very rarely heard cars. All in all we’ve really enjoyed our holiday and the hotel has lots of positives, but the little things would make it feel more like a 4 star! It’s an ideal hotel if you hire a car or don’t plan on travelling much, there is nothing within walking distance but Cefalu is defiantly worth a visit both during the day and evening.

We went as a couple for 2 weeks on a half board basis. Despite this, our table always had a bottle of water and a bottle of nice wine and free water was available at the bars. The food was fresh and tasty. Not recommended for people who love junk food as you'll be disappointed. This hotel offers a small selection of authentic Sicilian food. You would get a table allocated for your dinner for the whole holiday. I loved this as we could grab a starter on the way to our table instead of waiting to be seated. Everything is huge, from reception to breakfast room and the rooms. The pool offers a beautiful view and I saw some of the best sunsets I have ever seen. The hotel does not accept cash but you get given a bracelet and you can load money on it to use for your drinks and make sure you use all the balance before you leave. We enjoyed their pizza and our dinner in the garden restaurant which both need to be booked before hand. The gym was good and cleaned daily. The pool had a lovely view and was also cleaned daily. There's an aqua park you can use if wish which is open from mid June to mid September so don't be disappointed if it's closed in April as this is clearly advertised. The staff is friendly and welcoming and would do their best to accommodate people's requirements. Our room was big and new but basic. The hotel is isolated and you cannot enjoy a walk along promenades etc. There's a shuttle bus to Cefalù and back for €4.20 return otherwise you'll have to take a taxi. The hotel has a private beach with a restaurant, bar and toilet. All done nicely. The shuttle bus to the beach and back is free and again you can only pay for food and drinks using your bracelet so make sure you have enough money in it before going. I personally do not understand some of the negative reviews come from. Perhaps a little research before booking this hotel would have helped some people. Other big chain hotel are also isolated and offer similar services. We loved our stay and we would definitely recommend it.

Stayed as a family. Hotel is ok, not the best, not the worst. Room was worn and the bedding didn’t get changed. We left towels on floor to be changed as directed. They were folded and put back multiple times without being changed. Bedroom floor was dusty and we had an ant problem, fixed eventually by maintenance. Corridors, lifts, stairs were not clean. Grubby finger prints everywhere, large clumps of dust in corridor. Lifts out of order frequently. Not great when on 6th floor. Bus transfer from airport is long and hot. Air con is really not great. Pool is fab, plenty sun loungers. Waterpark fab. Food ok, plenty choices at night. Breakfast the same everyday. Service great. Beautiful sunsets. Isolated, nowhere to walk to. Definitely be better to hire a car to see more. The cleanliness really let it down.

The hotel has a lot of potential. It’s a beautiful, clean resort with friendly and hardworking staff, and it’s very spacious while still being easy to find your way around. The food that was available was tasty, but the variety was disappointing. Most meals consisted mainly of fish or pork, with very few other options. If you want pizza, you have to book a separate restaurant within the hotel, and you’re only allowed to do that once during your stay, which seems unnecessarily restrictive. The biggest disappointment was the all-inclusive package. The bar policy is honestly one of the worst I’ve experienced. You’re only allowed to order one drink per wristband, so you can’t get a drink for your partner or family member, and if you want a second drink for yourself, you have to go back and join the queue again. It makes no sense for an all-inclusive holiday. It gets even more frustrating at lunch and dinner. Even though you’ve paid for all-inclusive, you’re only offered water or white wine with your meal. If you want a soft drink, beer, or anything else, you have to pay extra, despite those drinks being included at the bar. That policy really feels misleading and takes away from the all-inclusive experience. Another disappointment was the way our group was treated. There were 12 of us travelling together, and we asked if our tables could be pushed together so we could eat as a group. We were told no because it would be too much effort for the staff to separate them again afterwards. We thought this was unfair, especially when we saw groups of 10 people being seated together. Accommodating two extra people shouldn’t have been such an issue, and it left us feeling disappointed. Finally, we booked the restaurant located within the hotel, and while the food was enjoyable, the end of the meal left a bad impression. Towards the end of our meal, the staff turned off the lights to encourage customers to leave. We found this very rude and disrespectful, especially when we were still finishing our meal. Overall, the hotel is beautiful, clean, and has excellent staff, but it needs to improve the food choices and rethink its all-inclusive policies. With a few changes, it could be a fantastic place to stay.
