“Convenient, characterful and comfortable”

We stayed here for 4 nights in Oct 25 enjoyed the hotel immensely. It is an older style to be sure but very clean, loaded with Italian character. Our (budget) room was very large and had a nice balcony overlooking a variety of lovely fruit trees and flowers as well as a glimpse of the sea. Some of the more expensive rooms have balcony's with a full sea view . The bed was big (king size which can be hard to get in Italy) and comfy so we slept extremely well. It is full of quirky art works in literally every corner which give it a wonderful character. It has a fantastic roof top bar with views over the town and sea with drinks at a great price for Taormina. The reception staff were welcoming and helpful. It was also great value compared to other options in Taormina which can be very expensive and we couldn't have asked for a more convenient location - just a 3 mins walk to the centre of the main street. This is a 'poor man's White Lotus' option - no need to pay fancy prices to get location and a view !

“Location is everything”

We stayed here five nights. We had the classic double room with a small balcony with a side Seaview. The room was large and roomy. The rustic charm could be viewed as dated, but we liked it. We had friends staying in more modern hotels, but complained the rooms were extremely tiny whereas this hotels rooms are quite large. The bathroom was also big. The bed was not the most comfortable, but it got the job done. Housekeeping was friendly & the amenities were sufficient. Air-conditioning worked fine. The hotel appears to be in the middle of renovation, however, I never saw anyone actually renovating. Breakfast was sufficient. Offering a variety of breakfast breads, hard, boiled eggs, cold cereal, meats, cheeses, juices, & coffee. it was plenty to get the day started. There are two balconies. One was closed & their website did not say that it was closed. The second balcony is right above the breakfast area. Offering a nice terrace to enjoy while you eat your breakfast however, there were no umbrellas on the tables. So the sun is beating down on you scorching hot. Offering umbrellas in the morning would be a great amenity for guests. They could simply be removed in the evening, so no views are blocked. There is a bar on the same floor that is open in the evenings. There is a very nice gentleman waiting at the bar every evening for someone to order a drink. The best part of this hotel is its location. You are in the heart of Taramina with convenient access to everything! The hotel has back stair access to Corso Umberto, where all the shops, cafés, & restaurants are located. This was priceless. We were here for a wedding & the church was right next-door to the hotel. We walked to the cable cars, the theater, shops, restaurants, & even walked with our luggage to the bus stop. Nothing was more than a 10 minute walk. This hotel has so much potential to become a five star hotel. With some renovating & extra care could really bring out its rustic, charm & beauty. Throughout the hotel, there were several pieces of art and artifacts. I would have loved to learn more about the art pieces & its history. Adding some information next to the art, would be a nice touch for the guests to learn about its history. Overall it was a pleasant stay. Prices were reasonable.

A very interesting hotel with a unique history, especially if you are interested in art. The multi-artist Giuseppe Cuscona built up the hotel over many years together with his Danish wife. The same artist mastered * Sculpture * Ceramics * Wood carving * Textile and fashion design * Architecture. Take a walk up to the third floor and admire the many sculptures on display. This fascinating story deserves to be told more clearly in the hotel! The hosts (the artist’s son) and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. However, the neighboring restaurant, ‘La Scala’, should have turned off the music earlier in the evening. But still we enjoyed the lovely balcony!
