Hotel Fortunella is in a perfect location a short walk from the lively promenade and beach yet in a quiet residential area a few minutes from buses to tour the local area and a 15 minute ride from the train station at Viareggio for travel further afield. The hotel is immaculately cared for and incredibly clean throughout, our room on the 4th floor was spacious with plenty of storage and a gigantic bathroom and a nice cold fridge capable of storing much beer and water. The only downside was night time temperatures made it uncomfortable to sleep until the air conditioning was turned on 10th June, after that it was fine. We chose the half board option due to other reviews and were not disappointed, the food was amazing definitely restaurant quality and nothing was repeated over the week (except ice cream was always an option). The pre starter consisted of 4 items every night giving us the chance to try things we wouldn't normally choose. You couldn't meet friendlier staff and management who always had a smile and were so helpful with local knowledge. The pool is a new addition this year and adds a pleasant space to read or soak up some sun from the many loungers available, there is a convenient pool side bar where you can obtain drinks and order food for lunch when your legs don't want to walk far. There is so much to see in this beautiful area that we've decided to go back, would we stay at the Hotel Fortunella again? Absolutely

Excellent family run hotel. The staff were highly professional and friendly, offering excellent service and friendly atmosphere. We were half board board and there was an excellent choice for breakfast with both continental and hot food, choice of eggs, (scrambled, fried or boiled) made to order, bacon, beans and toast. Continental included fresh fruit, yoghurt, cheeses, ham and freshly made pastries. The evening 4 course meals had plenty of variety of freshly cooked authentic Italian pastas, meat dishes and fish, homemade vegetable soups and presentation of each dish was outstanding! The rooms are comfortable with air conditioning and each day cleaned and serviced well. A great swimming pool and sunbeds made it very relaxing and quiet area after a busy day touring the area . Bus stop close to hotel and good walks along seafront 5 mins away to bars, shops and the beach. We look forward to a return visit and recommend to anyone wanting to visit this area of Tuscany and want to stay at a quiet and friendly hotel with a good atmosphere to relax in.

“Wonderful hotel”

Would recommend a stay here it has the perfect location 5 mins from the beach , the hotel owners and staff were fantastic during our stay , the food was amazing and we would certainly go back there on holiday had a great week

Overall we enjoyed our stay here. We felt the hotel was nicely located, within walking distance to a large supermarket, beaches and restaurants. The staff were friendly and the hotel was very clean and tidy. Our room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. We had a small balcony big enough to sit out on comfortably, there wasn’t a balcony table which was a shame as it would have been handy. I hadn’t read the hotel description properly and so had missed that air conditioning didnt get turned on till June 10th. Due to European temperatures the last week of May we would have really appreciated it but as a result sleeping was quite uncomfortable. I would have paid extra to be able to use it out of season but this wasn’t an option. I also didn’t realise (again, my own fault, it did not form part of the description) that there was no kettle in the room and was rented at €20 for the week, with unlimited tea and coffee. Breakfast was nice, with a small but reasonable choice. Fried eggs were lovely and yokey! As a result of the poor sleep due to the heat, the 90 minute breakfast period proved a bit early for us and we only managed 3 breakfasts in the week. We had one meal at the hotel which was ok, Our room overlooked the pool which we didn’t use, but it looked a nice area and looked clean, it wasn’t ridiculously noisy and people didn’t seem to to try the old, crack of dawn “reserving” of sun beds with their towels. I would visit Hotel Fortunella again but only after June 10 so you had air conditioning.
