The hotel is located in a quiet street, just a couple of minutes away from the beach. Marina di Pietrasanta is a small town, but for those who want more excitement and more glamour, there are busses to Viareggio. Viareggio is a nice town with a busy but beautiful beach and a little harbour. The staff was patient and friendly, even though we arrived in a tourist group with over 40 people. That being said, the quality of the diner was simply outstanding, especially the pasta's, the meat dishes, the risotto and the soup. The breakfast, on the other hand, was very basic, but unfortunately that is no exception in Italy most of the times. The rooms are clean and there's really nothing to complain. The bathrooms were a little outdated though, and the entrance to the shower was much too small. However, we found out that the hotel will renovate and renew all this. Overall, a good hotel and especially after the renovation there will be much to look forward to.

Very friendly staff. The hotel is situated on a one way street parallel with the promenade although access to the actual beach area is severely restricted by private properties. The hotel has its own path going down to this road and you then have to cross the road on a nearby pedestrian crossing and take a path down between two properties to reach the beach. There are six rooms per floor and all rooms are air conditioned. each room has two windows one quarter of the width of the room and shutters which roll away from these windows. Wifi is supposedly only available in the reception area but I managed just fine in room 106 apart from the two times when the internet went down. The top floor appears to have only 4 rooms with balconies. Soundproofing is poor and the stairs to the dining area on the other sound of the wall had only wooden treads so every time anyone up or down the stairs it sounded like a herd of elephants. The night porter after collecting the bread went up the stairs to cut the hard crusty bread for breakfast at 5 am and people were going up and down until after 10 pm so sleep was only possible between 10 pm and 5 am. It was also possible to hear someone coughing in the adjacent room. Rooms had 2 single beds and 2 bedside tables, a desk and chair, built in wardrobe on side of bathroom and a place to put your suitcase. I small flat TV screen with 999 channels but not a single one in English. Bathroom had a bidet in addition to toilet basin and shower. Shower had a door so it was impossible to flood the floor but the shower packs were the type which you could only open with a pair of scissors. The slit on the side was of no use at all. The packet of soap was also impossible to open without a sharp implement of some sort. Very thin towels which were hard to dry once the got wet. Good quality toilet paper. There is a lift for 5 people going to all floors. Evening meal consisted of a choice of pasta or soup, a choice of 2 main courses normally one meat and one fish accompanied by a small portion of vegetables but no carbs ie no potatoes, rice or pasta so you always went away from the meal feeling hungry. A salad buffet was available between the soup and the main course of lettuce, carrots, beetroot slices, sweet corn and a mixture of beans and onions. A small desert followed but one night it was a nut flan with no warning and I have a nut allergy so had to spit the nuts out and leave the whole desert. Luckily I did not have to use my emergency allergy medicine. There was a house white and a house red for which you could order a glass but bottles cost from €18. Beer and mineral water was available with a 0.9l bottle of carbonated mineral water costing €2.50. Breakfast was served downstairs and consisted of hard crusty white bread which I find impossible to bite but this seems to be typical for the whole of Italy. Platters of one type of cheese and cold sausage and one or two types of cake plus packets of butter jam, honey etc. There was a bowl of plain yoghurt and a jug of cold long life milk plus three types of cereals. There was one machine dispensing orange juice, grapefruit juice and water and another machine dispensing coffee and hot chocolate. Drinks out of these machines tasted surprisingly good. The two members of staff also brought round jugs of coffee and milk to refill cups. There seemed to be 3 members of staff plus the female owner and two cleaning women. The Jacuzzi advertised in the brochure and the solarium are only available in the summer. Downstairs there are nice comfy sofas and chairs to sit on plus a larger TV. Upstairs in the dining room there is an upright piano. The website given on the hotel brochure does not work. You have a pleasant stay with very friendly staff but you always go to bed hungry because there are no potatoes with the evening meal.
