A central hotel with stunning views overlooking the seafront of Sliema, Valletta to the left, and the busy promenade. We praise the cleaners who kept the rooms spotless and were helpful when we asked for extra pillows and towels. Our room was cleaned around 14.00. The reception staff was always smiling, and check-in was efficient. We e-mailed the hotel a week before our arrival to confirm the booking; just a precaution to avoid any mishaps upon arrival. There were plenty of breakfast choices, including cooked and cold cuts, yogurts, pastries, four types of juices (machine), and a selection of beverages (machine). The breakfast area was on the eighth floor, the perfect setting for starting the day. People were taking selfies and loving it! The manager seemed to work around the clock; he was present during breakfast, clearing tables and supervising the staff. The hotel is slightly dated but clean. One of the lifts had issues one day, and the other was slow, but we had no trouble taking the stairs—free exercise. There is a restaurant on the premises on the ground floor. We did not try it, but the staff always greeted us friendly as we passed on our way in or out. There is a mini fridge in the room. Two bottles of water were waiting for us upon arrival, and there was a kettle with a selection of coffee and black tea. The kettle was nice and clean inside. We enjoyed the view from the balcony and were lucky to see the fireworks show from Valletta. Thank you, Marina Hotel. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a clean and central hotel in Sliema.

“Perfect location”

The main selling point of this hotel is the location. Plenty of bars and restaurants on the doorstep and it’s also the perfect base for exploring the island. The main selling point of this hotel is the location. Plenty of bars and restaurants on the doorstep and it’s also the perfect base for exploring the island. Breakfast: excellent buffet selection (sausage, bacon, egg, cereal, toast, pastries, fruit, yogurt) as well as hot and cold drinks. Rooms: This will depend on which option you choose. I went for the cheapest so didn’t expect luxury but it didn’t the job. It also had AC which was great but no fridge. Shampoo/body wash, soap and body lotion were included as well as a kettle. Terrace area was lovely (up the stairs from the breakfast room) but the jacuzzi was empty I’m not sure when it gets filled as it was definitely hot enough for a dip

We stayed here recently and this was our second visit to this hotel. Our first visit was several years ago. The situation is excellent -- right opposite the bus stops and Valletta ferry terminal and with a view of the harbour looking across to Valletta. We opted for a room with a balcony and harbour view (worth the additional cost for the view). All of the staff were friendly and helpful and spoke English well. Nice people. Breakfast was the usual hotel fair and was served on the top floor with an even better view than from our room. Everything was available in a buffet style setup. Cereal, fry-up, etc., and help yourself to whatever you want. However, we think that the fruit juice had been watered down a lot -- we could see through the faintly orange coloured juice -- Yuk. Since our first visit it looked as though the whole place had been given a makeover of the cheapest possible type. Grey paint over all the woodwork (OK I suppose if you like dark grey woodwork). The foyer as more impressive than the rest of the place. The laminate floor in our room looked as though it was on its last legs and was beginning to delaminate around the edges. The furniture appeared to consist of the cheapest available items. The wardrobe was just a metal framework thing with a couple of small shelves and some coat-hangers. There wasn't a single drawer anywhere in the room to store our underwear and other small items, so we lived out of our suitcases. There were a couple of mats on the floor but they were very thin and crumpled up if we didn't step carefully. Personally, I did not find the bed very comfortable. Only one pillow was supplied, plus a dark coloured cushion. Why have a cushion instead of a second pillow? The bathroom was not good. A shower head over the bath was one of the worst that we have ever seen -- the spray all met in the middle and was almost like a jet of water and it was a work of art trying not to let the water spray all over the floor around the end of the curtain (the floor when wet was like a ice-skating rink). And considering that there was a notice on the wall encouraging us to "save water", why have a bath in there instead of a proper shower cubicle? I always feel rather insecure with my balance when standing in a bath taking a shower. There was not a grab handle to add a bit of security and safety. The area around the plughole had been painted white, presumably to disguise the fact that it was a bit corroded and the plug was much smaller than the hole anyway. The sealant around the edges of the room where the walls met the tiles, etc., had been painted, probably to cover up any black mould that was making its presence noticeable. The toilet seemed to have been positioned by a left handed person -- the toilet roll was situated behind the sitters left shoulder and the flush handle was on the left as one faced the cistern.
