We had a lovely stay! The hotel is spotless in all departments and house keeping is top notch. We stayed on a breakfast only basis, the buffet was fab with lots of choice and always full to the brim with produce. Full English, egg station and the usual continental choices. There’s plenty of places to eat out and about, the hotel is very reasonable on food and drink prices. We never encounted any sun-bed issues and the beds are plentiful. Fresh clean pool towels daily. The only criticism I would have are the pool times / the main outside pool shuts at 6pm which seems a little early - we like to go out and about and visit the pool later in the day. At 6pm it was still glorious sunshine so I felt like our pool time was cut short. We had a car for 4 days but the buses are very regular and the stop is right outside the hotel. The hotel is very quiet once you’re in your room, we never heard anyone in the corridors morning or at night. All in all a nice little find - I’d recommend you give it a go. X

★★★★☆ — Brilliant 4-Star for Families: The Honest Review I Wish I'd Found Before We Went Travelled as: two adults, two children aged 4 and 7, and grandparents in their early 70s and found almost no detailed family reviews before booking — so here's the one I wanted to read. If you're travelling with small children, this is written for you. Short version: better than expected, genuinely great for families, and we'd go back. Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We're not buffet people, but this was great. Great variety, genuinely tasty, and constantly refreshed — no food sitting out going stale. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all consistently good. For kids, the buffet is actually a real strength — mine tried fish dishes and European flavours they'd never have touched at home. The a la carte restaurants are a nice addition. The food is good rather than exceptional, but it's a great option to have — and we had no trouble getting reservations. A special mention for the Italian restaurant, which has a soft play area attached. As any parent knows, that's a game changer — the kids can let off steam and you can actually enjoy your meal without anyone being confined to a chair. One downside: drinks are tap-only in the buffet restaurants, no option to order from a menu even if you want to pay extra — I couldn't even get a glass of prosecco with dinner. Tip: nip to the Side Street bar and bring drinks back in. The Coffee Bar ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A real plus! Every morning we started our day with a coffee and as a proper coffee snob, I was genuinely impressed — good coffee, and the oat milk was actually decent too and I'm picky. Kids loved the milkshakes and smoothies. They also sell salad boxes and pre-prepared fruit tubs, which are perfect if you're heading out on a day trip and don't want to come back for lunch. Drinks (All-Inclusive) ⭐⭐ I get why resorts keep alcohol light — fair enough. But the cocktails here were essentially juice. The margarita tasted like lemon juice with no detectable alcohol. The only place serving anything with real strength was the Side Street bar, which didn't open until 5pm. The fruit juice machines in the restaurant also ran watery. Worth knowing going in. Swimming Pool & Slides ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The pool and slides are brilliant for kids — a real highlight of the trip but please note only the two big slides are worth it as the others don't have water going down them oddly. A special shout out to Abdul the lifeguard, who was fantastic. He genuinely looks out for the children and has fun with them too, which made such a difference. It's rare to find a lifeguard who brings that level of warmth and engagement — he didn't go unnoticed and deserves the recognition. Room ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a one-bedroom family room with a sea view — pay for the sea view, the alternative is wasteland or ugly buildings. The room was spacious with plenty of room for a family and all their stuff. Some reviews mention limited wardrobe space; we found it fine. Rooms are well soundproofed despite being near a road — we heard almost nothing (except what a firework factory exploding early one morning which was wild!). Facilities ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Everywhere felt clean, modern, and well-maintained. Nothing tired or run-down. Evening Entertainment ⭐⭐ This is what stops it being 5 stars for a family resort. Acoustic artists each evening created a nice chilled vibe, but for a family complex you'd expect shows or activities. We tried to take the kids to the children's entertainment one evening — fully booked. The format felt enclosed with no family disco option, which most comparable resorts offer. If you're travelling with young children and evening entertainment matters to you, temper your expectations here. Trips — Malta is Stunning, Here's What We Did Malta itself is absolutely worth exploring, and the hotel is a great base for it. We did three trips with our 4 and 7 year old and our parents in their early 70s — all very manageable. 🏛️ Valletta — Beautiful, and more manageable than you'd expect with kids. The streets are shaded so it never felt unbearably hot to walk around. We travelled by Bolt XXL for flexibility on timing — around £80 there and back for the group, which felt reasonable. 🏰 Mdina — Honestly one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Immaculate, architecturally stunning, and again with shaded streets that made it comfortable even in the heat. Cost us around £40 to get there (Bolt XXL) and only £10 back as my parents stayed on longer and we returned in a standard car. Absolutely do not miss this. ⛵ Boat Trip (Blue Lagoon, Crystal Lagoon & Caves) — The kids absolutely loved this and it was a highlight of the holiday. They were in the sea with us, which made it feel like a proper adventure rather than just a sightseeing trip. Tip: bring food if it is not included so you do not need to get off at the Blue Lagoon — the beach is so packed it's genuinely overwhelming. Stay on the boat and swim from it instead. You get the crystal clear water without the chaos. Bottom Line — Is It Good for Families with Young Children? Yes, genuinely. Children are made to feel welcome here — through the food variety, the pool and slides, the soft play at the Italian restaurant, and warm staff like Abdul. Our 4 and 7 year old thrived, and our parents in their early 70s were equally comfortable. The only thing I'd change is the evening entertainment, which doesn't match the family-friendly standard the rest of the hotel sets. If you're a family looking for a well-run, clean, great-value 4-star — this is it.

This hotel, on the seafront of Qawra, St. Paul's Bay, is part of the Xuereb family of hotels. We do not usually holiday in more touristy areas of Malta, but as we took our son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter, a hotel with activities was required. This is a very busy hotel. More than once, I heard guests ask staff at the restaurant to sit them "away from children" - a piece of advice - this is a family hotel, so if you do not like children, then do not stay here. There is an "adults-only" space at the infinity pool area on the very top floor, but I would say that this is a very good hotel for young families, with plenty to keep the children occupied. The rooms are spotlessly clean, and spacious. Our only complaint, which we did express to nice staff when checking-out, is that our room on the second floor was directly above the loading bay area at the far end of the hotel, and it could be extremely noisy. It is for this reason I award four, not five, stars. The food is excellent, quite magnificent really when one considers how many guests are catered for in the buffet. The bar is well stocked and a warm area to sit in. All staff are magnificent. As friendly and efficient as one would expect, a credit to the hotel. I would recommend this hotel and would be happy to take family there again.
