Keep in mind it’s a 3 star to start but for us it was great! We stayed in the adult section which gave us access to a second restaurant for supper. The room was good. The grounds are beautiful. We love the breakfast especially, the croissants. The supper buffet was OK. The other restaurant was quite good, but you have to make reservations and order your food in the morning before, the beach is spectacular. Definitely rent a car if you’re willing to drive around because there’s many beaches to see and you can easily get to the grocery store and pick up some basic necessities for very cheap eating is expensive and drinks but buying snacks and water at the grocery store helps a lot. There’s a small shop across the hotel if you don’t have a car. And you can walk down the street to a nice area with restaurants and shops. There’s also another beach further down on the left that was very nice. We visited multiple beaches around the southern part of the island and this beach is one of the best ones. It’s French speaking with many tourists from France. Bring bug spray.

Our family of four had recently returned from a wonderful holiday at the Hôtel Bambou in Martinique. Hotel: Beautiful, well maintained property, with gorgeous lush gardens located directly on the beach. Brightly coloured bungalows and duplex units sprawled out. To navigate the property you need your room key, which makes it very secure, but also requires you to keep the key on you at all times. Concierge staff was exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable –went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. One of them– Mael helped us with airport transfers, reservations, excursion planning and more. A small grocery store across the street has all the essentials, as well as fish/meat BBQ at lunchtime. Rooms: We stayed in the adults only area of the hotel Culture Creole. Two-story units offered well kept, spacious rooms with balconies or terraces. Furniture was a bit outdated, but the beds - super comfortable. A small fridge, coffee and tea, ironing board - all the usual amenities. Walk-in shower, though no shampoo was provided - only the shower gel. Air Conditioning & electrical outlets function only when a keycard is left in the holder – helpful to ask for a second card. Beach: All beaches in Martinique are public, so the hotel welcomes both locals and tourists alike. Hotel guests get free lounge chairs & parasols, available between 8am & 5:30. There is no need to wake up early to reserve chairs, as there are always good spots available. We weren’t happy to give back our lounge chairs at 5:30, but eventually resorted to staying on the beach towels directly on the sand for the last hours of sunlight. Ocean is a transparent blue with very calm waves, as waterfront is in a protected bay; sand is soft and light (some beaches on the island are volcanic black). Depending on the tide there can be a rough drop to get into the water at the shoreline – some elderly people were seen holding onto others for stability. Otherwise the transition to depth is gradual. There are no palm trees on the beach, so shade is difficult to come by with the singular parasol assigned to every 2 lounge chairs. Water sports: a few steps from the resort, along the beach, there are a couple of water sports centers where you can rent kayaks, pedal boats, stand up paddle boards, or go on a banana boat ride among other things. They provide life jackets and accept both cash and credit cards. Pool: There is one main pool located centrally, near the bar & restaurant, and an additional small pool reserved for the Culture Creole, adult section of the resort. Plenty of lounge chairs & parasols available on the pool decks. At night time, both pools are lit up, and available for use until 8pm – though unsupervised regardless of time. Restaurant: There is one main restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was buffet style – plentiful, fresh and tasty: eggs, omelettes, cold cuts, cheeses, pancakes, breads, croissants & fruit. A wide choice of juices, coffees, etc. Soy milk and gluten free options were also available. Buffet style dinner always included a choice of soup, variety of salads and entrees, cheeses, some form of potatoes, rice, pasta, cooked veggies & then always a fish + meat option. The grill was used for a “special” fish/meat dish. As members of the adult only Culture Creole section we could also choose to dine à la carte, where the food was not exactly refined cuisine, but always delicious, varied and beautifully presented. For a quick bite throughout the day there is a snack bar with burgers, sandwiches, salads and the island speciality “accra” (fish fritters). On Wednesday & Saturday, there is a lunchtime grill option where fish & meat are prepared on the BBQ. Bar: The resort has one main bar where we got various cocktails, which were all made well and generous with alcohol. Tipping is optional - but always appreciated. Entertainment: On three separate nights we were pleasantly surprised to have a show during our dinner: live music and a spectacular dance performance. Wednesday night was karaoke at the bar. None of this is advertised, so if you are hoping to catch these events do not hesitate to ask which nights they are scheduled for. Excursions: We took a 1/2 day excursion through SunLoisirs on a speed boat to see dolphins, visit a bat cave and snorkel with fish and turtles (Mael at the concierge desk helped arrange this). It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. From the boat, we were able to see pods of dolphins up close, wild & free; it was absolutely magical. Then we visited a narrow bat cave, which was eerie, but fascinating. Finally, the captain took us to a snorkeling spot at Anse Dufour, a beautiful beach with crystal-clear waters, where turtles often frequent. It wasn’t our lucky day for turtles, but the sea was full of colourful fish, which was just as much fun. If you’re looking for a sea adventure that combines nature, wildlife & top-notch service, this is it. A bucket list experience for sure! Another unforgettable experience was a private tour with Adrian to see the South Western part of Martinique. This also was arranged by our very helpful concierge Maël. The tour included some fabulous snorkelling at the black beach of Anse Noire (a few hundred steep steps down from the main road); a visit to the famous Diamond Rock with time to shop at the market in Le Diamond; wine tasting at the Trios Riviere distillery and a beautiful fishing village nearby; shopping for souvenirs at a Pottery village and ended with a relaxing picnic by the water. Adrien provided all sorts of unique Martinique goodies to sample. A big “Thank you” to our wonderful guide was very flexible and helped us create our own itinerary and schedule to see this colorful island “of flowers”, as it is often called. Accessibility in the hotel: Wheelchair accessible ramps available for all main spaces, including the restaurant and the beach. Hoyster lift was available for use in the main pool. The grounds are spread out quite a lot, and although there are no buggy carts, the paths are smooth and well marked and its easy to get around even for people with walking aids or wheelchairs. The hotel staff are very helpful, attentive and supportive. Overall –a lovely stay at the Hôtel Bambou, and the beautiful Martinique island.

“Nice hotel on the water, not suitable for vegans”

Nice hotel on the water. The little houses were cute and everything was in island style, I liked the vibrant colours. Only for vegans there is not much food🥲
