Had an absolute best holiday at Barceló margaritas (we didn’t stay in the royal level as this is adults only) We had an 11 night stay in August. We never had to queue for sunbeds as they were always plenty. Lots of daytime activities take place on the lower level pool but if you want to just relax then there’s another pool up the stairs where it’s a bit more quiet. We preferred to either lay in the day beds which were also always free and watch the activities or go to the top pool. The food was lovely too, plenty of options available and they do different cuisines each night. A few nights they also had a live singer which was lovely. All staff from reception, entertainment, chefs and waiters and cleaners were always very friendly and helpful. Our room was cleaned daily we were never short of fresh towels. They also provide you with sunbed towels which are great! There’s a free bus shuttle service throughout the day which takes you to playa de ingles beach. We went on a few day trips and asked the reception staff to order us a taxi and it was always there within 5 minutes. The evening entertainment was enjoyable, my daughter enjoyed doing the quiz, they had singers, tribute acts and acrobatics. Overall we had a great experience at Barceló margaritas and would definitely return. Thanks to all the staff for making our family holiday one to remember!

“A decent holiday but could do with some improvements”

We’ve stayed at another Barcelo hotel so I was expecting much of the same. This hotel confuses me, parts of it are great and others, not so much. The location is OK, a 20 min walk will get you to the beach and the sand dunes and there are shops and restaurants should you want them. The shuttle bus to the beach was great and we used that several times, so easy and convenient to get to the beach in the heat of the day. The rooms are spacious and clean. The walls are paper thin and you can hear every conversation, every door slam, every person running up and down the corridors. The food was repetitive, even with themed nights it felt like the same thing night after night. By the end of our 10 days meals were a bit of a challenge. The pools were a bit of a disappointment. As others have said, the rules around use of balls or floats was very hit and miss. One day it was no problem, the next it wasn’t allowed which made no sense. The upstairs pool floor is peeling in various areas and my daughter and at least 4 others, cut their feet on it. There was entertainment in the bottom pool, the usual water polo, water games etc. which was good. I do not participate in getting up early to reserve a sunbed, yes it was busy but we always managed to find somewhere. If you want a specific spot every day, then I think you would need to be up early to reserve a space. There is not enough space to sit outside on an evening. The bar area does not have enough chairs and tables so people were sitting on sunbeds - not my idea of fun or what I’d expect from a 4* hotel. Overall I got the feeling that the hotel, at max capacity, which it was, is just too big for the outside space it has. It needs more options to relax and play games/ have a drink in the evening without resorting to sitting on an uncomfortable sunbed. The staff were pleasant and helpful, there was the odd rude one but there were also a lot of rude guests!! On the whole it’s a decent hotel. Not sure I would visit again but we enjoyed our holiday.

I am a guest at this hotel right now. I came here at the same time last year, and loved it, however I am not loving it this time. You are now charged to use the safe, the air-conditioning is set at a temperature that cannot be lowered, leaving it impossible to get a good night's sleep. This year you are provided with one pool towel, that has to last you a week. The staff on reception are OK, other staff members are not friendly and even rude at times. The food is not the quality it was last year but its ok. I will not use this hotel again. Most of tge guests I have spoken too have something to moan about. Today there was an infestation of cockroachers which left me feeling very uneasy, if I had wanted to stay in a 2/3 star hotel , I could have at a fraction of tge cost of this one. Very disappointed.
