An unknown little "sister" gem of rooms/building to the Krystal Grand brand in San Jose del Cabo. Although an entirely old building bought by Krystal Grand almost 20 years ago is in need of urgent updating (tiles in pools (3) loose or missing or with broken edges leading to some cut skin on toes *saw it myself; they have a medic on site and were fast! ), layout needs a facelift, the place was immaculate! I guess the money not spent in updating, is spent in hiring quality staff to keep the place afloat. The STAFF WAS AMAZING. Truly a kind peoples and each person we encountered on the premises was so patient with us visitors! The landscaping and care of flora was evident of the management and staff - beautiful! The pool is on a daily treatment, not a 24 hour filtration system, and the surrounding areas of pool in the evening/night are scrubbed very well. The rooms could use updating, furniture old and showed signs of a lot of wear; beds were comfortable and sheets were always clean. The amenities in bathroom were decent! Shower/body gel, shampoos and lotion soap were good. Lukewarm water in shower is the norm. No kitchen amenities at all. There is a microwave and a fridge. They do stock and re stock water bottles/beverages (Tecate and sodas!) on the daily w afternoon cleaning. The building itself borders the Carretera Transp. 1 and since the building is just a few minutes from WalMart and Comer, etc., and sits above a few businesses, there's a lot of traffic all times of day. Windows are old not double paned, the doors are probably hollow, and the traffic was heard! There is a "storm door" for rains, which we kept closed hoping to dull the sounds, but no. The front doors to rooms and MB window face the highway and the sofa bed which has seen better days 20 years ago, in the "living room", faces the "garden" and if you're high enough on floors (past 4th or 5th), you have a good ocean view! But since this is a building bought later and not part of the Krystal Grand property "proper", there is a little "paseo" which we had to cross to get to the restaurants/buffet/reception/towels, etc., manageable for young people, not disabled person friendly, at all. If you're in a wheelchair, it would be very uncomfortable. The sidewalks in Mexico are...you know, not up to code or ADA compliant, so watch your step! Best restaurants are the Italian place "Risotto" and The Grill with an awesome ocean dinner view. There's a calendar on the weekly showing which restaurants are open, what times the buffets are open/running, there was a seafood lunch buffet which was PHENOMENAL if you're a FRESH CAUGHT seafood fan! There's a camp for kids, so there was activities on the daily with staff on a PA system and music playing. And the main pools were "family" pools and mucho ninos running around; the adult pool/section is 18 plus so there's the 18 plus crowd, but the drinks and food keep coming. The only nuisance was that one brochacho insisted on blasting his annoying music louder than the resorts music, even though signs ask you not to...We rented a car and made morning trips to other beaches, quiet for snorkeling before more crowds arrived. Can rent umbrellas for the day 200 pesos, just packed sandwiches and beverages from the resort. All in all, I'd stay here again! The price was great for booking/paying in full and got a great price (booked in Nov. 2024 and stayed in April 2025- Semana Santa) for us - it was worth it.
