We have so many good things to say about the RIU Cancun. When we travel to all inclusive hotels with generally don’t have high expectations for the food or drinks. The main buffet was generally very good, fresh and tons of choices. This was by far the best all inclusive main buffet we have experienced. There were no lines, maybe one or two people ahead of you. Four of our six nights we ate at à la cart restaurants for dinner. It was easy to get in. No reservations needed. The service was excellent, and the food was very good. The drinks were also very good. The bar staff is fast efficient and will make whatever you want. They even had some call brands included. Around the pool can be crowded and loud, there’s an adult pool with a swim up bar. That is fun. There is an activity pool, and also a completely quiet pool area. The infinity pools are very nice. The room was modern and clean, with a nice large bathroom and two sinks. The minibar stocking could have been a little better. A good idea might be to have you checkboxes for what you want. I went to the customer service desk to ask what kind of special arrangements I could make for our 20th anniversary day, I was told they have this covered. They did a beautiful job decorating our room. Made it extra special. Avoid MTS travel for your excursions . Communication was terrible and the excursion sold, was not the one we experienced.

I had read a few reviews before travelling which worried me, they mainly mentioned bad room and damp musty rooms. I found the food nice, better than I eat at home and my room was to a good standard. There were cleaners constantly around the hotel keeping it to a really good standard. And all staff were very polite. The beach was amazing and good for snorkeling, especially if you walk over to the slightly rocky area between the riu cancun and riu palace next door where you will see lots of fish. The hotel was minutes away from the main bars on the strip, to which I went out of my own twice and felt totally safe. If there was 1 thing I could improve it would be the drinks, like alot of all inclusive hotels they were not full strength drinks. I had an amazing time and will absolutely be rebooking soon

So let me start by saying I don't write reviews often but when I do, it is because either service was really good or really bad. In this case, it's because service was really good! I had a large group of 15, reserved 5 rooms, and this was our first time staying at a Riu property. I read the mixed reviews prior to booking but took a chance as sometimes people that submit reviews can complaint about self inflicted problems or nip pick at minor details. That being said, we stayed for 4 days and had a great time! The greeting at the front door and with check-in staff was excellent. All of them had a smile and were super friendly. They were able to check-in my entire group with no issues. Prior to everyone taking their rooms, we inspected all rooms. Each of the rooms were super clean and ready for guest. The rooms were a little dated (the one thing in other reviews that seem to be true) but to be honest, how often are you staying in a room on vacation? Nonetheless, the ocean view was amazing and in my opinion, compensated for some of the room feeling a bit dated. Additionally, due to the size of my group, I needed 3 roll-a-way beds and called as soon as we got settled into the rooms. The beds were there within 15 minutes of request. There is a little bit of construction going on, on the property but they have it blocked off nicely, clean around the site, and you can not see any of the work being done due to the barriers they have in place. There is very little noise coming from the work being done and they are super careful not to disturb guest. To be honest, the work was so quiet that I totally forgot work was even being done and the barriers blended in with the landscape of the property. So it was absolutely no issues. The property is well maintained and very clean. It is in a really good location along the hotel chain and the beach front is amazing! This locations have several events through out the week with a stage somewhat in the middle of the resort. This is a great location to meet up, hang out, or check out a show. My favorite event was the silent dance party which is held on Tuesday nights. There are other adult only themed parties but they are held at the Riu Caribe. If you have an opportunity to go, GO!! We went to the Neon Party and the Jungle Day Party. Both were a total vibe!!! It is free for current Riu guest and there is a shuttle bus that takes you to the Caribe. It is only a 10 minute ride and well worth it!! Let's talk about the food for a moment. I have visited many resort and this resort did a really good job with food! The buffet food was really good and most of the restaurants food was great as well. I have to give a big shout out to Ibis and Rosalia who where our servers in the buffet area most of the time of our stay. They took really good care of us and made sure we were comfortable! If Riu management is reading this review, please be sure to give them a raise or a reward because they worked hard to make sure we were happy. We hit the steakhouse one night and it as amazing. There is also a 24 hour Sport Bar with light food. Its a really good spot to hit late at night when all of the restaurants shut down. If there is anything I would complain about or give a downgraded rating on related to food, I would have to say the bar drinks. We hit different bars on the property for mixed cocktails and that is definitely an area they need to improve upon. Some of the drinks had an after taste and I'm confident its because the alcohol is not top shelf or premium. The alcohol is very generic. If you are not a regular drinker, than this will be fine for you. But for those who indulge often, you will notice a difference. Overall, I am happy with our stay at the resort and had a great time! Everyone on the staff we encountered were super friendly and helped to ensure our stay was a good experience. I recommend staying at this resort and would stay at another Riu resort in the future.

We had a problem with s reservation and they insisted to pay a reservation again. After Two days of arguing, negoations and interventions we paid it even if we paid for it already in the agancy. In the end, agency refund the amount. So, be precausious!!! The hotel is a little bit old-fashioned but still good. Entertainmet is good. The beach is great. It is a little bit crowded around the pool. The food is great.
