This was personally my favourite resort to stay at so far. At first, the drive in and seeing the hotel, I didn't think too much of it. It didn't look the greatest from the front, but of course you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. The lobby area is very nice with a breeze that goes through, and I quite like the tall hut-like appearance. I loved the well-spaced layout. Everything was a short walk from the other, and it was very nice all around. My parents room (303) was a little dated looking, but my brother and I's (309) was not. It was clean, there was no damage or repairs needed, and everything worked. You also can't go wrong with a view of the ocean! My only very minor complaints would be the short balcony railing, 0 pictures on the wall, a fairly loud AC, and the shower pressure fluctuating here and there. The food was good, the selection wasn't huge, but we never skipped a meal and always found something. The fruit selection is good, as well as the fruit itself. I found the chicken rather dry, as well as the bread, which was unfortunate as it's what I usually aimed to get. They certainly make an delicious banana bread though! Our servers, Oscar, Sergio, and Juan, we're wonderful, very friendly and efficient gentlemen. We spent most of the time at the adult pool, as the family pool was too loud and busy for us. We never had to fight for a lounger which was great, compared to some hotels where if you're not up by 6am they're gone. One thing I loved especially that my mom reminded me of a few days in was the kayaks being included with your stay! I had never gone kayaking before, and decided to give it a go. The ocean was perfect each time we went. Saul was wonderful, very friendly and easy to chat with! Another thing I really enjoyed about this resort is how close is was to everything else in the area. We went to the Malecon a few times by bus, only 11 pesos each way. It was a bit of a hot ride sometimes, but it's fairly quick. The Malecon has tons of shops, and some super cool entertainment, but if you go a little further in, you'll come across a long island called Isla del Río Cuale. There you will find tons of awesome shops, I absolutely adore all of the bead work, as well as the ladies who sell gorgeous watercolour paintings close to the beginning, and at the end is the best part.. Cats. Isla del Río Cuale is also known as Cat Island. They have a lovely, large, park area, host to tons of cats. We wish we brought more treats, but didn't know that we would be there more than once. 99% of them are super sweet, some are pretty skittish, but they will come right to you if you have treats, some even without. You'll get the oddball that will try to scratch you, but that's just kitty nature. At the end of Cat Island there is a little eatery called Las Brazzas. I can't rave enough about this place. My family LOVED their tacos and quesadillas, as well as their piña coladas. The lovely lady who works there even remembered us from the one time we were there, and got our order darn near spot-on upon seeing us. Back at the hotel, they also have a couple of kitties hanging around. 2 of them, a calico and a pale orange tabby, came around in the night time, and one grey and white tabby came in the buffet. I couldn't deny the sweet, and very obvious boy (lol), a fresh fishy meal. The other kitty we saw hangs around the first stair platform on the adult side, and she has 2 precious little kittens that she moves from time to time. For me, this was a big selling point. If you love cats, I highly recommend Las Palmas. In short, I loved everything about this trip. The price was right, and the whole hotel and surrounding area were great. We talked to SO many amazing people, and I would definitely come back here again!

Typing this as we fly home, 2 hours from YYC. After a first day with a few hiccups, (mainly from our son who spent most of his time in the room), we thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the week and didn't want to leave. Typing this as we fly home, 2 hours from YYC. After a first day with a few hiccups, (mainly from our son who spent most of his time in the room), we thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the week and didn't want to leave. Every staff member we met was great. We always found tasty food to eat at the buffet for every meal, even if it was somewhat repetitive. It was good! The only thing we liked at the snack bar was the french fries, but that was fine. The use of the kayaks was a nice bonus for my husband and daughter. The water is calmer than the water we had last November in Nuevo at Krystal Grand. The drinks were a bit too sweet/syrupy for me, but nothing an extra shot couldn't fix. 😄 Fidel at the main bar was great, as was David at the lobby bar. Our main servers in the buffet were Oscar, Juan, Sergio and they were all very efficient and friendly. We mainly spent time at the adult pool, as the family pool was too busy and noisy for us. The beach was beautiful, with coarser sand closer to the resort, and nice soft sand after that. We never had a problem getting 3 or 4 loungers, even at 8 am., sometimes 8:30. Our rooms were on the 3rd floor as requested, but I wish I had requested the adult side. I really thought we would be on that side, considering we were 4 adults, but nope. Our room had a connecting door to another room (not our kid's) and the woman had an annoying cough which often woke me up the first 2 nights. We also heard entire conversations from her and her husband in the middle of the night. I would definitely request a different room next time. We had 303 (one king bed) and our kids were in 309 with 2 doubles. You can't beat the oceanviews, that's for sure! For the most part, we enjoyed the nightly entertainment. The circus was our favourite. More 70s and 80s music at the pool would've been welcome. The chill vibe music sometimes played at the buffet was quite nice, instead of thump,thump, thump constantly. The birds flying around the buffet got a bit old, but what can you do?! Speaking of birds, it's sad that the 4 parrots are locked up in a cage 24/7. I wish they could be set free sometimes. There are a few kitties around the resort, which was a bonus for us! Also a pheasant wandering around. In/by the water between the resort and Los Tules, is home to a couple of crocodiles, several types of birds, iguanas etc. Very cool. So, if your first impression on the first day isn't great, there's a good chance it will grow on you, and you will enjoy it as much as we did! Keep in mind, you get what you pay for. 😊 If you want a 5 star resort, pay a lot more and stay at a RIU, Secrets or Dreams. Las Palmas by The Sea was perfect for us.

“Great sunsets and lobby bar bartender!”

It is nice to be able to have meals by the beach with the beautiful views of the ocean and evening sunset. David, the bartender in the lobby bar goes out of his way to be helpful and make great drinks.
