Suites La Hacienda An oasis of charm, calm & beauty set on the slopes of Riconada around 500 yards from a strip trip of restaurants , a bakery, pharmacies and dive shops …. The charming old but modern style villa sits in a beautiful garden of trees and flowers and a good sized pool . There are lots of parasols and sunbeds around the pool and it is lit with an abundance of fairy lights in the evening . Separate pool towels are provided and can be changed regularly but please remember ro think about the environmental impact. The large rooms are very modern with king sized beds, a range of furnishings , a modern shower room and I believe most have a Kitchenette with a fridge, hob a range of utensils and saucepans . There is a safe in each room and I believe most rooms have balconies and/ or terraces . La Havienda is all in all a supreme effigy of the word Boutique and well deserves its 4 star rating . The rooms are cleaned daily with towels being changed , bedding refreshed and small shower / shampoo toiletries provided . Sol and her team are excellent . Please remember to tip them ! On arrival she organised all of my toiletries and make up into different baskets ! That was a first. I also benefitted from a small private pool however it was cold and I didn’t use it. There is a bar which sits perfectly next to the pool area and the bar man is fabulous though the drinks are a little pricey. The reception is manned from 8 am until 10 pm and so you should take care not to lose your keys . In terms of location, La Hacienda sits on a slope 500 metres from the ‘High Street’ where you will find a few very good restaurants ( see my separate reviews but Turtle Bay and Nenes are very good ). El ToloLote and Fauna are great for breakfast . The much talked about Michelin restaurant , Almoraduz is average in my opinion. Costs of eating plus a drink range from 200 pesos to 1,000 at some of the more expensive ones . There is a fantastic bakery ( Dulce’s) just along the strip , along with Soltans and Papi’s serving good local and Middle Eastern fayre. Also worth visiting is Plaza Chilete. Turn left outside La Hacienda, take the first right and then left at the bottom and you will come to it. This is a super food hall containing 5-6 outdoor restaurants and a bar. The German stall and Thai eateries are notable . All the food is prepared fresh in front of you , is delicious and extremely good value . You can eat and have a drink for around 300 pesos . The closest beaches are Carizillo and Bacocho. Carizillo is a gorgeous cove which sits at the bottom of a steep climb with around 200 steps . It is great for surfers . There are a few eateries and it costs around 500 pesos for 2 beds ( even if you are solo). Bacocho beach is also around a 15 minute walk and is stunning - and everything you would expect. It is however wide and exposed and there are only a couple of places to hire beds. The water is rough with a strong undercurrent - and generally the sea is not suitable for children and only the strongest of swimmers. If you do have children I recommend Angelite - around a 20 minute walk from La Hacienda . It is sheltered and there isn’t the current . If you want to wonder further then take a taxi to either La Punta (150 ish pesos ) or Ziccatella (70-100 peso). Both are wonderful , beautiful wide exposed beaches but again the sea is powerful . Zicatella beach is adorned with restaurants and shops and is Il Centro . It is the party place to be after 10 pm . La Punta is a back packers paradise - the beach is gorgeous and is popular with locals, families, backpackers and surfers . It is a great place to watch the sunset and there is a strip of restaurants , outdoor food stalls where you can eat just about anything. There are some seriously good taco places . La Hacienda is rated a 4 star and well deserves this . It is a gorgeous , safe and relaxing place to stay . It is boutique so you get to know the staff and it would be lovely of people could remember to tip the cleaners and gardeners . The average daily rate for staff locally can be as little as 200 pesos . Suggestions 1. Place a dirty towel bin and rubbish bin around the pool and; 2. Consider security on reception until midnight . It would be of concern to me if I was there alone . There also needs to be an emergency number if we lose our keys or are robbed I have no hesitation recommending La Hacienda . It was truly a wonderful place to stay and I would definitely return .

Wonderful property and service! The grounds are just beautifully landscaped and inviting. The pool was nice and warm and clean for swimming, and not overcrowded. The room and bathroom were spotless and the bed comfortable. Staff were very helpful across the board. The property is in a quiet area, about a 10 minute walk to the beach and only about 5 minutes to a host of restaurants and cafes. The big surfing beach is on the other side of town, about a 10 minute taxi or Didi ride. We would definitely stay here again.
