What a great location! Our 5 year old loved the kids hot tub, which always had great families to meet. Our room was 5402 one bedroom suite with a great view of the beach and hotel zone strip. Our maid Miriam was fantastic, and the beds were great. The pools were fun, although the southern main pool (close to building A) was less windy and more convenient for our location. The kids club was a big hot. The trick is to tell your kids to choose the daily activities they want to do at the beginning of the day so they know what time things are happening. (ex. 10am face painting, 2pm treasure hunt, 3pm tie die shirts). The kids slide area was fun. One section is for for adults and big kids (over 50 inches i think), and the other was only for kids (30 inches through 50 inches i think). There is a snack hut open after noon. The kids area opens at 11am. The beach was raging. It was red flag the whole time we were there, but that was fine since the waves are so big and fun to play in. They had staff watching out for everyone who went too deep in the waves and blew the whistle at them. Its hard to build a sandcastle, so we went to the sister property at Royal Cancun. That beach was so easy for sandcastles, and just playing and wading in the shallow quiet beach. It's great that they let you visit the other property, and the food there was great as well. Nothing was annoyingly noisy because the wind and the waves were so loud. The sports restaurant had a great menu, and the sushi restaurant is located next to it. The Hacienda restaurant has live music in the form of 4-5 people moving around the restaurant. This works great for Mayan or Mexican music nights. Book a few days early to get a dinner table. We took the red buses up and down the hotel zone strip. We never took a shuttle. The red buses cost 12 pesos per person (70 cents), and run all the time. Like all the time. We waited 1-2 minutes for the next one to come by. They drive fast, but they get you were your going. So much easier than shuttles, and we didn't want to deal with taxi's. Our hotel zone trips were down to the El Rey Archeological ruins, which were covered with iguanas since the iguanas live under the ruin stones. Totally worth it for our sons age. We went to the interactive museum and the dolphin splash experience. Far too expensive, but it was a great time for our little one. And we took the red buses to the Royal Cancun sister property (about 10 minutes). Cons: The pizza is terrible. LOL That was a surprise. The veranda restaurant is better if you order off the menu. Many places do not allow food to be taken to the hotel room, unless you sit down and ask for a to-go box. Room service takes about an hour, and is useful but you have to plan in advance and the menu gets a little old after a few times. When you check in they try to sell you on a timeshare, suggesting if you listen to a 90 minute presentation they would give you a $145 credit. No thanks. They even called our room a few times to see if we wanted to be part of a presentation after I already said no.

Check in was smooth. Room large with everything you could possibly want/need. Staff very warm, helpful and friendly. 10/10 would recommend

The staff continues to be Royal Resort's best asset. They consistently make us feel welcome and cared for. We particularly enjoyed the extra attention paid to us (and our guests) by Angelica, who went out of her way to keep the villa spotless, and to Isela Rodriguez, who has been in charge of the guest laundry services for many, many years. We are always happy to see Isela! Her communication skills are excellent, and she always checks to make sure what settings we want and if there are any special handling items. She's not as visible as the wait staff, the front desk staff and the concierges, but her cheerful services are critical to any of us who stay for more than a week! We would also like to extend our gratitude again to Julio Ibarra, who graciously hosted the Back of the House tour for ourselves, our guests and our friends. The machinery, facilities and employees who keep the Sands in tip-top shape are unbelievable, and we are happy to see that Royal Resorts remains committed to the environment and to supporting the incredible staff. Thank you, Julio! A quick shout out to Jesus in Hacienda Sisal, to Orlando in LeBistro, and to Christian at Thomas More, who arranged multiple tours for our very diverse group over the course of two weeks!

“Long weekend with friends”

Beautiful property with spacious rooms, large pools, white sand beach. Excellent service from Eduardo at front desk and Arturo at the pool. Will be back!
