“Great location for a Cancun resort”

This is the place. They had great rooms (although our beach view was obstructed) and an expansive pool and beachfront. The best part is the location, directly across from the mall with all the food options you ever need.

We spent one week in a one-bedroom unit. The resort is well run and the room was recently updated. The kitchen and laundry facilities all worked and met our needs. The room easily accommodated two people; the patio area was a bit smaller than I expected (compared to other timeshares in the extended Marriott family). The great plus of both the room and the patio was a closeup view of the neighboring Mayan ruin (as well as a grand view of the ocean). Even if you aren't overlooking the ruin, you should definitely pay it a visit! The resort offers two large pool areas, one with two separate pools and a water slide. People do reserve loungers in the areas of the poll with the best views early in the day (I was up one morning at 6:30, just as the sun was rising, and some were already claimed). We were always able to find loungers by the pool, but I imagine that there are times of the year when there aren't enough. The ones that remain often don't have umbrellas. I was always more successful in finding loungers with umbrellas or palapas on the beach. Food and drink can be ordered from the beach and there are lifeguards during the day. The resort offers many activities, including an on-site mini golf course. The on-property shop offers a good range of food and drinks as well as some prepared foods. It also stocks good breakfast rolls that seem to be fresh every day (for other food needs, there's a Soriana supermarket that is a about a 20 minute walk to the south on the road in front of the resort). My one complaint about the resort is that the on-site dining options, particularly in the evening, are minimal. There is one restaurant that offers different cuisine each night, sometimes as a buffet and sometimes with a menu, as well as a sports bar with food options. They are able to do this because of the many restaurants in the malls across the street (one directly across the street and one slightly to the north). The room service menu is basic and pricey. It would have been nice to have more evening food options on the property for a resort this size. The staff were universally friendly and helpful. The beach in front of the property is quite wide and only had modest amounts of seaweed when we visited in March. I was able to take lengthy walks both up and down the beach and realized how well positioned the Westin is for the quality of its beach.

Terrific vacation with family. Clean and well kept resort right on the beach in Cancun. Its located directly across the road from a large mall with lots of shopping and eating options, including ice cream. Rooms were very nice, clean, and very comfortable. We loved the kitchen and the in-room laundry. Premium pool front lounge chairs were often hard to obtain but there are plenty of other lounge chairs available. Beach was excellent. Awesome sand and super clear water. Pools were nice, although a bit too warm for our liking. There was a grocery store a bit south of the resort where you could buy things if needed. Convenience stores were abundant and closer. Hotel has a very strong system of timeshare selling which was evident all around and throughout stay. We were asked 3 times in various ways to sit though a 90 minute presentation. We really enjoyed the various activities including the great gym, pickleball, and beach volleyball. The transportation to and from the hotel was easy and seamless. Just be prepared when you arrive at the airport that the first public area is mildly chaotic with lots of people trying to sell you things. The only downside was the resort food, although the buffet breakfast was very good. We found the pool drinks and other restaurant food to be sub-par. The sports bar food was less than desirable and the pool pizza was probably the worst pizza I've experienced.
