The resorts were absolutely gorgeous. The grounds are extremely well maintained. The workers are amazing and try really hard to ensure you are enjoying your stay. They were all incredibly friendly and helpful. Rooms were beautiful and spacious. The food is hit or miss. The buffets tend to have repetitive options every day. Reservations are not easy to come by. The first come first served restaurants were pretty good. We didn't appreciate being introduced to someone under the guise that they were our "concierge," only for them to try and sell us something, 15 min after we got there. I knew to look for them after reading other reviews and shut it down quickly without wasting our time. Our actual building concierge, Mariella was AMAZING and extremely helpful. Overall, if they would step up their food game some, this place would be 5 stars easily.

# Still Our Favorite Riviera Maya Resort After More Than a Decade My family and I have been visiting Iberostar Maya for well over a decade, with more than a dozen trips since around 2011. We've also stayed at several other Iberostar properties in Mexico and abroad, and despite some changes over the years, Iberostar Maya remains our favorite. The biggest compliment I can give is that we keep coming back. If you're looking for a family-friendly resort with beautiful grounds, excellent staff, great food variety, and plenty of activities for both kids and adults, Iberostar Maya continues to deliver. One thing that has remained consistently outstanding is the staff. The bellmen are among the best we've encountered anywhere. From the moment you arrive, they are professional, friendly, and efficient. They handle luggage quickly, help guests get settled, and are always on time when it's time to depart. After all these years, that level of consistency is impressive. The bartenders also deserve recognition. Whether serving adults or children, they treat everyone with the same level of courtesy and attention. Our kids have been visiting for years, and we've always appreciated how welcomed they feel throughout the resort. The grounds are beautiful and exceptionally well maintained. This is a large property, which we enjoy because there is plenty to explore. Guests can walk throughout the complex or take advantage of the golf cart transportation, which is readily available and convenient. The beach remains one of the resort's greatest assets. Like much of the Riviera Maya, seaweed has become more of a challenge over the years. However, Iberostar deserves credit for investing in equipment and staff to actively remove it. We've stayed at other resorts that simply leave the seaweed where it washes ashore, while Iberostar clearly makes a significant effort to keep the beach as clean and enjoyable as possible. When conditions cooperate, the beach is absolutely beautiful. The presence of lifeguards, nearby food service, and easy access to drinks makes it a great place to spend the day. The pools are another highlight, especially for families. The wave pool remains a favorite, and there is plenty of space for both relaxation and activities. One small observation: the "hot tubs" have never seemed much warmer than the pools during any of our visits, so guests looking for a traditional hot tub experience may want to adjust expectations. Food continues to be one of the reasons we return. One of Iberostar Maya's strengths is that everyone can find something they enjoy, whether they're adventurous eaters or extremely picky. Traveling with children can be challenging at some resorts, but we've always been able to find options that satisfy everyone. That said, some of the restaurant offerings have changed over the years, and in our opinion not all of those changes have been improvements. We especially miss the seafood restaurant that used to be located near the main lobby. The menu variety and dining experience there were standout features that helped set Maya apart from other resorts. The dining reservation system is probably the area most in need of improvement. The app frequently showed no available reservations for restaurants, sometimes appearing completely booked for our entire stay. Yet on several occasions, concierge staff were able to secure reservations that the app indicated were unavailable. This suggests there may be opportunities to improve how availability is displayed within the system. Guests shouldn't arrive on their first day feeling that every restaurant is already full for the week. Concierge service can make or break a resort experience, and we've seen both ends of the spectrum over our many visits. This trip, however, we were fortunate to work with Alex Mendoza, who was outstanding. Alex was friendly, professional, and genuinely invested in making sure our vacation was enjoyable. He helped answer questions, assisted with reservations when the app showed no availability, and regularly checked in to see if there was anything we needed. His level of service reminded us why great concierge staff can make such a difference. Employees like Alex are a tremendous asset to Iberostar Maya, and he deserves recognition for the exceptional guest experience he provides. Another area that could use some attention is the Star Prestige membership sales process. We certainly understand that the resort wants to promote its membership program, but after a guest declines, it would be nice if that decision were respected without repeated follow-up requests. Over the years, we've also noticed changes in how resort access is managed between different sections of the complex. Previously, wristband policies seemed more consistently enforced, helping distribute guests according to the amenities included with their booking level. Today, it often feels like those distinctions are less clear. Guests who pay for upgraded access naturally want to feel that the additional investment provides meaningful benefits. The rooms have seen gradual updates over time and remain comfortable, but they're probably approaching the point where a more comprehensive renovation would help keep the resort competitive with newer properties in the region. We also visited the spa for the first time during this trip, and unfortunately it was our most disappointing experience. We booked through the app, arrived on time, and were informed there would be a delay of more than two hours. Because we had other plans, we couldn't wait that long. Later, we discovered we had been charged as though we had missed the appointment. We attempted to explain the situation during checkout, but with transportation to the airport already arriving, we didn't have enough time to fully resolve the issue. We don't believe this was intentional, but better communication and appointment management would help prevent similar situations for future guests. The shopping center is another area that feels somewhat different from years past. It remains clean and attractive, but it no longer offers some of the unique shops, food options, and family-friendly experiences we remember, such as the candy store that our children always enjoyed visiting. Despite these constructive observations, it's important to emphasize that Iberostar Maya remains our favorite resort in the area. Many of our comments come from a place of familiarity and loyalty after more than a decade of visits. We've watched the resort evolve, and while some aspects have changed, the things that matter most—great staff, beautiful grounds, a fantastic beach, family-friendly amenities, and the overall atmosphere—continue to bring us back. If you've never visited before, don't let the suggestions above discourage you. They're simply opportunities for improvement from guests who care about the resort and want to see it remain one of the best destinations in the Riviera Maya for years to come. We'll be back.

It's been at great vacation celebrating 4 of our guys that just graduated. Traveled with 14 people. Really have to give credit to some of the staff that were really exceptional. Johny at the pool bar was the very best bartender for our whole stay. Hugo with the club was very helpful and informative and our housekeeping staff were amazing as well. For large groups traveling with minors, this was a great destination. Would recommend.
