Just visited this resort with my family of 4. Children 7 and 5. I really cannot say enough good things about our experience. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Our concierge Yael and Viridana were helpful and attentive to any questions we asked. We were able to get our bearings of how to get around after a day or two. The resort is large but that didn’t bother us. We enjoyed walking spotting the wildlife and every which way you turn is beautifully kept. We spent our days at the beach and pool and then evenings we had dinner at the various restaurants followed by the shows. Franco was our favorite “star friend” he was kind and funny. The showers were very well done. Our favorite was probably the circus night. Thanks for a great stay ! we can’t wait to book another trip.

Iberostar Paraiso Maya Suites Lengthy review upcoming!! I just have to give a huge RAVE to this hotel and all the staff. We just left an absolute magical 2 weeks there and we can’t wait to come back. I will really miss everyone. First Celiac food specific review upcoming, other members of our family ate gluten and loved everything but the following is just for Gluten Free celiac safe food :) My 11 year old son and I have celiac disease and we were treated better than I could have ever imagined. We always were able to fully eat safely. Karen is a really special person a gift from the heavens. She’s just the sweetest person I already miss her. She helped us with breakfast almost everyday (and dinner on the last two nights!) my son was able to have Gluten Free pancakes and waffles and cinnamon rolls and bacon and really anything his heart desired (but his heart really desired pancakes and bacon and cinnamon rolls!)). Even the butter was retrieved from the back so there is no cross contamination. My heart desired lots but I can’t eat too much so I had a omelette pretty much everyday but I could have had anything. They really took care to make sure we didn’t get sick, and neither of us did! For dinner at the buffet Cecelia was amazing. So caring and thoughtful. I really can’t say enough good things. We could have almost anything we wanted, pizza, pasta, tacos, whatever you desire they will make sure it’s safe. We also had many other chefs who were absolutely amazing. We never had a bad experience. We were always full and happy (and safe!). And ice cream from the back for desert for cross contamination! Amazing! For the restaurants we only tried a few: L-Etoile Bistro (French) - unbelievably amazing. The steak and potatos were unreal both my son and I could have that no problem just no peppercorn sauce. They were so sweet to bring my son an extra plate of mashed potato’s as his starter (because that’s what he wanted!) and I had the French onion soup it was outstanding. Oh and they brought us Gluten Free toasted bread with garlic butter!!! We also were given a fancy sorbet the first night for desert and (because we went back) the second time an unbelievable tapioca pudding I’m still thinking about!! La Geisha (Japanese) This meal was also outstanding. They cooked the whole table with Gluten Free soy sauce and we got our own special sushi. I couldn’t believe we could eat here but we could! It was such a cool experience. We have something similar at home but I can’t eat there as they don’t accommodate so this was a HUGE treat!! Oh and cheese cake for desert that was Gluten Free! Olivetti Spaghetti Factory Food was amazing we had pasta and pizza and I had the most amazing salad I wish I took a picture of it and I wish I could eat it everyday!!! Service, as usual, was outstanding. We felt very safe. El Rancho steakhouse We had the steak and potatos - they gave us special potatos and special sauce that was different from everyone else but very good! Again we felt very safe. El Tapatio (Mexican) They treated us like gold. They brought starters for the table all Gluten Free all amazing!!! I wish I took more photos but I was busy eating and enjoying!! I couldn’t believe everything they could offer. They went way out of their way to make my son something a bit off the menu (he likes his food a bit more simple) and they were so accommodating and kind. Genuinely such good people. And safe!! That’s the more important! I was so scared at first as two weeks is a long time to go away and this blew all my fears away. For the resort itself Pablo and Alejandro at the pool bar were the best!! Pablo from the entertainment team we just love and we miss him!! The entertainment everyday day and night was top notch! Our room was huge and beautiful and clean. The entire resort was so well taken care of I was constantly surprised how they could keep everything so perfectly clean all the time. Even the pool bathrooms which is very impressive. Truly this resort is outstanding. Im not sure what more I could ask for. I can’t wait to come back!!!

“Good, not Great”

This was our first time at a family resort with our 4 children. The resort is beautiful with lots of nature and it's well-kempt. I loved walking through the mangroves, seeing the coati, spying peacocks and flamingos, and feeling the sun on our skin. There are lots of activities for teens and adults to do during the day, though our teens did not participate. Our youngest is 5, and there weren't many activities for him to do unless we sent him to the Star Camp, which we didn't want to do. The water park was awesome, though, and he loved the pirate ship. Unfortunately, the pools were a little too deep for him. There wasn't a shallow end, so we had to hold him everywhere we went in the pool. At a consistent 4.5 ft deep, it made it impossible for him to stand. I found myself wishing many times that there was a shallow area (other than the wave pool). We went to the 90-minute membership sales pitch (more like 110 minutes), and it got uncomfortable at the end when one person after another kept trying to sell us. We got tickets for the catamaran out of it, though, so I suppose it was worth it. The catamaran trip is nothing like the promotional video they showed us, though. We were told there would be two locations we'd visit - one of which we'd be able to stand in knee-deep water. That didn't happen. It was one location, and it was too deep to stand. Most of my family felt too nervous to go on the snorkeling tour, so we ended up staying on the boat. The boat ride was lovely. The food was okay. I didn't expect fine dining, so I wasn't necessarily disappointed. The breakfast and dinner buffets were really good, though. Rancho was hyped up more than it was worth, but the Hibachi was awesome. Having paid extra for Maya and then being told that dinner was 1.5 hours wait while the restaurants were clearly not crowded felt frustrating. On one night, we went to 4 different restaurants and each had such long waits that we ended up going to the buffet, which was actually awesome. Ice cream by the pool, the Star Cafe, and the options at the beach grill were nice to always have on hand. The worst part is that we all got sick, unfortunately. Between nausea, diarrhea, and an upset stomach, we all ended up on the spectrum somewhere. We were careful not to drink the water as we used the water refill stations religiously, but somehow we all ended up feeling pretty terrible by the end of our trip (which was 5 days). My husband is still majorly struggling with some sort of bug 2 days after getting home. There's no way of knowing how we got sick, but we did, so it was a pretty disappointing way to end our trip that we paid thousands of dollars for. As much as I loved the grounds, the water park, the kind staff, our balcony, the beach, the eco-friendly nature of the resort, and the mangroves, I'm not sure I could see our family returning. I'm sure many people have a wonderful time here, and we did, too, but with all of us getting sick, it just put a bad taste in our mouths. I wouldn't not recommend this place, but I'd just encourage you to be careful about the food choices and bring Pepto and electrolyte powder!

Went for spring break last week March for daughters senior trip. Resort is huge, too big. Strange layout. Tough to get around. Staff was typical. Busy, which was to be expected. Grounds and maintenance were fantastic. Resort looks beautiful. Landscaping is stupendous. They did a great job cleaning up the beach but sargassum in this part of Mexico is a true menace. Really unfortunate as the Mayan Riviera used to have some of the best beaches. Best work out facility is probably the best I have seen for an all inclusive. Golf course was difficult but really nice. Worth trying out. Downfall of most of these resorts is the food and drink, which for me is really important. Buffet food is always weird. Breakfast is the best, hard to mess up. Restaurants are poor expect for the teppanyaki Asian place. Hard to get reservations in spite of the fact the restaurants that require reservations are half empty. Service is slow. Dinner takes too long. Food is inconsistent. Entertainment is standard. Finding chairs always sucks. No towels cars. Have to wait for the guy to check your room number which takes a while. Weird clicking noise in the room but otherwise they were pretty quiet. Wouldn’t go back. Not terrible, just not for me. Better than RIU, worse than Dreams. Standard average all inclusive.
