The beachfront by the fives is in a close location to their sister hotel which is far larger and busier. The atmosphere in beachfront by the fives is chilled out relaxed atmosphere with lovely views and great entertainment in the form of duets singers who were all very talented. The room was spotless and our room overlooked the garden which was very pretty with the occasional visit from a hummingbird and a coate. Our room was also turned down at night if you wanted the service where you are left a bottle of water by your bed and some delicious truffle chocolate. The housekeeping staff were excellent. I felt it was great value for money the food at the restaurant was exceptional and they were happy to adapt the taster menus for my vegan husband. What makes this hotel is all their wonderful friendly helpful staff every one of them was a credit to the hotel. I had a wonderful holiday.

We were thrilled to return to The Fives Beachfront Resort for the third time! This small boutique, adults only resort offers the quiet space and amenities needed for that restful time away from home. Ambassadors Luis and Jamie greeted us with refreshing drinks during check-in and assured us of a warm stay to come. Each morning we received a menu of the day’s events, activities, and restaurants available for dining. Restaurant and pool staff checked-in throughout our daily routine to make sure all our needs were met. Day and night maids provided excellent services along with the beverage cart staff who made sure our fridge was stocked with everything we may want. Next door, our sister resort “The Fives Hotel & Residences” offered many restaurants, bars and coffee houses to choose from each day. Our favorite spot was Koh-Thai, an Asian restaurant (thank you Carlos for 5-star services)! Shuttles are available for transport throughout the resorts. Onsite, the Santa Sierna offers breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Breakfasts were fantastic as were the lunch specials offering the “catch of the day” providing a variety of fresh fish options and all the Langostino you can eat! Thank you to the dishwashers, pot scrubbers, prep cooks, line cooks, and chefs – we appreciate your dedication to providing a wonderful experience to travelers. We were always treated with a cheery Buenos Dias and smiling face by hostesses, bartenders and dining staff including Ricardo, Fernando, Eduardo, Gustavo, Richard and Lucas – 5 stars!!! Looking out from the restaurant is the pool area. On the left side are the padded lounge chairs, umbrellas, and tables with chairs. In the center is the pool, it slopes down to shoulder height with enough space not to feel crowded. A small island sits in the pool with seating, and room for drinks. The right side has a shallow area with Adirondack chairs. Pool water was chilly/cold in the morning but warm by noon. I like it cold my wife likes it warm. Plenty of towels were available. Excellent pool service for food and drinks. Our studio room was well equipped with a comfortable king size bed, well stocked mini-fridge, French-press coffee equipment, an outside patio with table and chairs, and a view of the pool, beachfront, and the Caribbean. Our mornings were spent having coffee and watching the sunrise in the cool of the morning. The room was kept clean all week as it was on the first day. The min-bar was stocked daily with soda, drinks, and beer. The coffee station had bottled water to brew with, and an assortment of coffees. Fresh towels are provided twice each day. Unfortunately, this is the time of year when sargassum washes up on the beaches. It is a great white sand beach, and a hard working crew were able to handle the sargassum. The Bali Beds were on a flat stretch of beach that was kept up for guests, including food, and drink service. The main beach, like all beaches in Mexico, are open to the public but was pretty quiet during our stay. On previous trips we enjoyed watching fisherman, and families have picnics on the beach. The grounds were always kept up. Hallways were swept and mopped. The walk ways were blown clean with a gas blower that was loud. Thank you to your work that made us enjoy our stay. 4 star (blower), quiet blower 5 star. And finally, please remember to tip generously. While the resort is an all-inclusive, tips are not included in those costs. Resort workers have families, children and often parents to support and depend on our generosity. If you can afford to come here you have $$$, their living wage depends on you!

We booked this as a quiet and relaxing getaway and that is what we mostly found. The service is great and the hotel was exactly what we were after, a small almost boutique hotel. The Beachfront by the Fives offers this feeling with the benefits of full use of a larger hotel when needed. The best of both worlds, but this does come with the use of our hotel by some guests from next doors larger sister hotel which made it very busy and noisy at the pool on weekends. With some weddings on a couple of days over a weekend it did get loud and the service suffered, but for the most part we found The Beachfront by the Fives to be the relaxing holiday we needed. It’s worth noting there is a two tier system here, one for normal paying guests and one for those who have invested in the Epic Traveller “program”. We think it’s a timeshare programme from speaking to some members and guest. This may also be why the waiting staff favour some guests more, as they are “Panther” level epic Traveller member guests. Furthermore, some staff will show potential new clients around, there can be quite a few so at times you can feel like you’re in a sunbathing zoo. Room Our room was nice, clean and well presented. As some other reviews have noted the rooms are a little dated, but they are ample and spacious and, in the case of our Ocean View Beachfront Suite, had a good layout, and is larger than the Garden View rooms. We opted for an Beachfront Suite Ocean View (there are 4 of these above the swim up rooms) over a swim up suite as every swim up we have experienced has been cold at best, but that’s not the case here, the swim up pools are warm as they’re small, but this does not mean I’m disappointed by our choice, we were very happy with the room we opted for! This is the first 5-star hotel where we didn’t get spirits in the room, just a selection of water, coca-colas, sprite and beers. It’s worth noting if you are an epic member you do get this addition (8 bottles of different spirits in your room). This is always something I enjoy about 5-star hotels (the spirits in the room so you can make your own drinks and enjoy them on your balcony). The hotel isn’t big so you can pop to the bar, providing it’s open to fulfill this urge. Still it would have been a nice touch since you get it with hotels where I have paid a quarter of the price. The bed was very comfy as were the pillows, to the point of trying to find out the manufacturer to buy my own! You get two suitcase stands to unpack, a simple bonus but one overlooked by a lot of hotels. The balcony was large and welcoming and a nice place to take your morning coffee or unwind before heading out for dinner. It didn’t get too much sun so was never unusable. Just would have been lovely with a Diet Coke and rum over a beer! You get a selection of nuts and snacks, 3 types of coffee for the cafetière/french press and 2 mugs and 3 glasses. It would have been nice to have a couple more mugs for teas as well. We did manage it a couple of days but these were tidied away soon after. Luis kindly provided some milk and health shots as well, which we accepted. But due to the mug issue didn’t overly use tea in the end. Our room was building site adjacent, we aren’t sure what is being built next door. But we never had an issue with noise etc. The work seemed to start closer to 9am, and although some of it was quite loud, this tended to be later in the day, and never past 7pm. Some days there was hardly any noise, and looking at the construction they are probably around 1st fix. A swimming pool has been built next door and a palm tree lined patio - possibly a private residence or a beach club will be going there. I am noise sensitive which was one of the reasons for booking this quiet hotel, and we booked in August 2025 before any mention of building work by reviewers. You can far easier hear some of the live music from dinner as it echos down the hotel as the distance between the main building and beachfront suites reduces. This does stop early on in the evening and the air conditioning can provide white noise to drown this out if necessary. You need to also be careful when closing the patio doors hard as it causes the “fixed” end glass pane to move and a gap appear where the glass meets the frame on the wall. We did also experience some brown water out of one sink on a few days, oddly the other sink continued to run clear as did the shower. So I assume it was a piping issue not a water issue. There were some inconsistencies with room cleaning and intermittent turndown service, truly a 1st world problem! Nonetheless over a 14 night stay we didn’t get 5 turndowns. Also we were teased with truffle chocolates in our room under the provided glass cloche on some days and not others. Some times two, more often none, one time three!! Who know what we did that day to earn 3! I always think you can judge a hotel on your penultimate day by the cleaning and turndown service provided. We had to ask for more loo roll and shower gel as neither was replenished. The water provided also missed a bottle but this wasn’t quite as big an issue for us. We also didn’t get any truffles, despite noticing them on the turndown trolley. Maybe this is an Epic Traveller perk and we were lucky to get any at all. Food The onsite restaurant Santa Sirens is easily the best one among both hotels. The staff are fantastic and the breakfast menu is good with enough options to keep us going throughout our 2-week stay. I am not a picky eater and tried almost every item on the menu. Between my partner and I we did eat every item. And the 3 egg option allows for more choice and variation. Lunch is the standout meal and has a wealth of options. The ceviche option, especially the Tuna Tostada, was delicious, and both the Basque cheesecake and banana flambe were excellent. The guacamole was also an excellent appetiser between 2 or starter for 1! In contrast the evening meal menu is limited but delicious still, and despite the delicious tasting menu nights; Italian Mondays, Mexican Wednesdays and Thai Fridays you will quickly get through all the options. The food is still delicious and excellently presented. The portion sizes are sensible and allows for you to usually justify having a dessert. To supplement our stay we opted to visit the French/Mexican Brasserie and the Thai restaurant at the sister resort next door. The latter being good with tasty sushi and curries. The dessert wasn’t up to much but it’s still worth a visit. Just ask reception or WhatsApp messaging to book them for you. Initially we received our orders at the same time in Santa Sirena but as they got busier the service slowed greatly and we started to receive our dishes at separate times. Namely at breakfast but also at lunch. One time my partner had finished her breakfast and my breakfast hadn’t arrived. I believe this is why we’re were offered a pastry bowl they had “extra”. Not an issue as it tied us over between the two plates. Bar and Drinks Service The bar opens at 10am, though you may luckily get drinks service earlier. A few days we got it at 9:30 ish. The first day this was difficult as we were both still on BST and have happily started drinking from 8am having woken at 4! I’m not sure if possible as my understanding was the bar didn’t open until 10am if a mimosa or Bloody Mary was an option at breakfast, but would have been nice to know if so! As would a bar menu of drinks and cocktails, though I believe they would have made anything you ask for, just limited by regionalism or dialect. For any 1st time brits to Mexico chips = crisps! As mentioned it felt like drinks service were sometimes directed to Epic Travellers over other guests, but it may also be to the louder guests and larger groups too! The bar isn’t far away to pop too and the bartenders were very friendly and helpful even with a curveball drinks order!! The drinks were generally very good, there was some slight variation mainly around presentation between the morning and afternoon. We did experience a couple of undrinkable cocktails, returning 2 drinks in a row the 2nd a simple Diet Coke and rum. It’s also worth noting that the drinks provided in your room fridge aren’t the same as available from the bar. I heard a number of, mainly brits, asking for Corona only to be told it wasn’t an option from the bar. Also over the weekend we did experience a number of beers being unavailable. A large party of guests visiting for a wedding at the hotel next door seem to drink primarily beer leading to all bar one being out of stock by dinner, just so happened to coincide with the evening I fancied a beer. Maybe something in the air. Staff The staff are great and really helpful. Though when busy it feels slight under staffed, and the aforementioned favouritism towards Epic Travellers can exasperate the situation. But overall they were great. We witnessed Richards first accidental foray into the pool trying to serve some guests! Big thanks to Fernanda, Erik and Luis for their help and service. To echo other reviews here the staff make this place. Beach and pool Some members have mentioned towels being placed on sun beds early doors, and speaking to current guests they also had the same belief. The staff put a towelling cover over the beds at 6-7am, these are different colour to the actual towels but some guests thought this meant the sun beds had been reserved when they hadn’t. We never experienced issues getting a sun bed. Yes, some people put their towels out before stepping into breakfast. We did the opposite and put ours out after breakfast but we never came out to the pool before 10am to find we couldn’t get a sun bed. If all sun beds had been taken there was always plenty of room at the beach and barely anyone took advantage of the day beds there except for us. We spent a few days on the beach and the only real issues were drinks as you didn’t quite get the same service as you’d get by the pool but it does help if you’re located near some Epic members as we found one day. .::. Conclusion .::. We spent a considerable amount of money, including flights and room upgrades as this was our honeymoon and my review takes the cost into consideration. Our stay was great and we really enjoyed it. It was the relaxing romantic break we wanted and needed. The other guests are friendly and nice as are the staff as mentioned. We’re not people that return to the same place twice. You will get invited to a marketing breakfast that we didn’t attend due to some accidental heavy drinking the day before. Mai Thai’s are stronger than they taste! But speaking to another couple it’s a chance to try and sell the Epic experience and when pressed with the question that this is a time share the sales man apparently went quiet and moved on to another couple. If you’re already an Epic Traveller or have visited The Fives resorts on a number of occasions booking here is a no brainer if you’re looking for that quiet getaway. For non-Epic members and first timers you’ll enjoy your staff but it’s worth being aware of the situation. For me it is a 4/5, my wife it was a 5/5. Split the difference and it a 4.5 from us!
