I am so sorry that people did not have good experiences at Alito Hotel because ours was wonderful. If you are looking for a super fancy place to stay this is not it. If you are looking for a fabulous, comfortable experience in a picturesque setting come here! The grounds and beach are well maintained and gorgeous. The free breakfast is just fine and the restaurant setting is gorgeous. There is also a beautiful bar on the beach that makes excellent drinks and the prices are less than the fancier places down the road in the busy hotel area. Stay there if you are looking to pay more, if you want something fancier, and if you like loud music and busier beaches. But the beach at the Alito is even more gorgeous, cleaner, quieter, and the music is not loud but just perfect. It is a very quick and easy walk to the ruins. It is true that many of the huts seem deserted and they are working on them. But we stayed in the main hotel and it is just as close to the beach. I can’t say enough about the staff. Every single person bent over backwards to make sure we were having a good stay. The rooms are simple but clean and updated. Very beachy and cute with so much attention to detail. Maybe the outside could use a paint job if you are picky about these things but we just think it adds to the character of the place. For the people who complained about no hairdryer you can easily ask for one at the front desk. It was not a concern of ours that we did not have a refrigerator in the room. If that is a priority of yours then go pay more somewhere else. We rented bikes and it was a beautiful ride to the hotel area where you can enjoy wonderful but expensive shopping and restaurants. It is a very easy and safe ride of the boardwalk. The only thing is the bikes this hotel offers aren’t the best so it might be good to find newer ones somewhere close, just ask the front desk. We would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a very reasonable price and if you enjoy the experience of being at the beautiful beach in Mexico.

We visited Tulum Alito Hotel in late December for 5 nights. Overall a very good experience. The hotel being in a National Park/nature reserve gives the hotel an exclusive quality where neither it nor the surrounding area or beaches ever feel particularly crowded or loud. The property is lushly landscaped with sandy paths, palm trees and a minimalist jungle aesthetic in the individual cabins. Our cabin was only a few yards away from the beach and the sound of the waves and the ocean breeze was lovely. The cabin could have used an extra chair or a luggage rack but overall the polished concrete floors and thatched roof was a cool experience. I encountered one small mosquito-which I blew away with the in unit AC and a tiny lizard, which I saw once and never again, but other than that no animal issues. There’s a black cat that prowls the grounds and the grackles make a racket in the morning but it’s all part of the jungle vibe. Our shower and toilet were outdoors which was a novel experience but all shielded by a nice bamboo and twig thicket, was nice to go out and see the stars at night. We also had a back terrace with a hammock and a couple chairs and table privately to ourselves. Hot water was not exactly in existence but you got used to it. Staff were very friendly and the on-site restaurant was fine if not extraordinary. Staff were sometimes slightly overwhelmed but overall very kind and helpful. Breakfast is free and included but everything else is an additional charge. On the beach there is plentiful space in loungers and covered cabanas and service from a full restaurant and a bar. The hotel also seems to be a beach club so there are some day trippers as well to share the club and beach with but not an overwhelming amount. The surrounding park has a great well-lit promenade connecting multiple nearby and very good restaurants all within a 5-20 minute walk. Dinner for two ran from $100-$150 with drinks and tips. There’s a Mexican, Thai and Japanese restaurant all right on the beach. Lovely. We paid about $400 a night for the room for our experience with a Black Friday deal. We felt we got our money’s worth. Also transfer to and from the airport can be arranged for about $100 each way. The new and polished Tulum Airport is about 45-55 minutes away. And the Tulum ruins are a nice 20 minute walk away and well worth visiting for about $5 entry. Additionally if you go into the park you will pay a one-time entry fee of about $5-6 USD. The vibe is a mix of couples and families. Some young children but not too many.
