My husband and I have just returned from a 2 week break at Bahia Principe Explore Coba. We visited this hotel 2 years ago and could not wait to return hoping for the same memorable experience and we were not disappointed! Upon our arrival we went straight to the check in desk where Angel checked us in efficiently and promptly and then we were whisked down to our room and both cases taken up to our room by the luggage assistant. Our room was on the third floor and as there is no lifts, this is something to consider for individuals with reduced mobility but this was told to us at check in and as this is not an issue for either of us we had a super room in block 19a overlooking the pool. It is advised that block 19 is very central but the lower down the number blocks the further away from the restaurant and lobby it is although there are plenty of little trucks to hop onto for a lift to wherever you wish to go. Our room was immaculately clean with good air con and even cooler over the bed fan so we never felt uncomfortable. There is a safe, iron & board and mini bar which was restocked daily and on one occasion this was not refilled a simple phone call sorted this and we were restocked in a matter of minutes. The pool is cleaned every morning and kept tidy during the day, there are plenty of sunbeds but it is advisable to grab a bed in the shade as it gets very hot during the day. It has been mentioned on some reviews that the place has cockroaches and mosquitoes, call us lucky perhaps but we never saw a single one during our stay. The entertainment staff need a special mention as they work tirelessly from morning to evening with activities and fun games for all ages with relentless energy. The buffet restaurant has slightly reduced in size since our last visit but still offers a varied selection of food with a very popular egg station for a piping hot fresh omelet for breakfast plus a wide variety of anything you should wish for. We visited the Japanese, Italian and Gormet restaurants during our stay and found the food delicious and the staff fantastic and friendly as in the buffet restaurant. Special mention to Guadalupe who looked after us on two occasions in the a la carte and Andres in the buffet restaurant who made us feel so very welcome, and lovely to see Waitress Ruth again who we remembered from our first visit to Coba. I have read reviews where it is said that the staff are unfriendly and can honestly say that I have no idea how anyone could feel this way as each and every person we met had a smile and could not do enough for us, your staff are a credit to your Hotel. As we are both early risers we enjoyed the evening entertainment in the main seating area and did not visit any of the shows as after a long hot day and nice meal we were ready to return to our comfy King size bed for a good rest. We took an excursion to Chichen Itza and swam in a cenote which I will review separately, it was a fabulous full day trip with stops at a local restaurant and town, and our guide Christian was very knowledgeable and friendly. Just be aware that we clocked up 17,000 steps that day so maybe not suitable for all. Our check out was prompt and smooth and our transfer to the airport was on time and well organized. Thank you Bahia Principe Explore Coba for another unforgettable holiday and we can not wait to return to Mexico again soon.

We're here right now and I have to say I wasn't expecting too much but how wrong can you be! I struggle to understand bad reviews about the place, no it's not 5* plus but then again you're not paying 5* plus prices. ROOMS, Large spacious clean if not slightly dated but as you only really sleep in them does it really matter? Fridge is stocked with water and fizzy drinks. Bathroom large with a whirlpool bath and shower, shampoo, body wash and conditioner all there and plenty of fresh clean towels. FOOD You cannot really fault it for select of various dishes, there's a sushi/sashimi every night if that's your want even crab claws one night (which I've never been offered before in any all inclusive) The food is fresh and frequently changed if it's getting low. Soup, Mexican, Pizza (freshly made) lots of salady stuff, this evening even fresh steak, tuna and white fish all cooked in front of you! STAFF They are amazing, friendly and can't do enough for you, everyone says hola or morning and they work really hard. A special mention for Ricardo the restaurant manager who went out of his way to help prepare some food to take back to our room when she wasn't feeling well 👏👏👏 GROUNDS/POOLS There's a huge main pool which is warm and clean, right next to it there's a children's waterpark which is a hit with the young Uns A HUGE PLUS! There is no reserving of sunbeds and there plenty of them,lots of shaded areas for when you need to shade. There's also a small jacuzzi area. OVERALL. As I said in the beginning I wasn't expecting too much but those thoughts were blown out of the water within the first couple of hours. DOWNSIDES. The souvenir shops are horrendously expensive so it's best to avoid them. There's a 7-11 a couple of Kms down the road, it's a pretty hairy experience getting there though if you walk you have to cross 2 carriageways . All in all a very nice place to stay

We booked two rooms at this Hotel through Delta vacation for one week (June 21-28, 26) and travelled with my family (wife and two youth sons). Hotel location: Central between Playa Del Carmen and Tulum, with easy access to the main road so you can travel to vist the various attaction in the Yucatan Pennisola. Hotel Room are spacious, clean, great staff to serve at all times. Hotel Staff are very helpful and ready to serve with a big smile. Food and buffet are by far the worse quality in this hotel. Open buffett has the same tasteless varieties which seem to circulate between breakfast, lunch and dinners. Ala Carte restaurant which are 6 on the App but in reality only ONE is open every day and all showing fully booked every day of the week. We had to beg and fight our way through to get one or two reservation during our stay. It is a much better service and food quality. We had several activities planned during the week so, we enjoyed the central location but not the food at this hotel.
