I have just returned home after spending three wonderful weeks at Royal Catalonia Tulum and, after reflecting on my stay, I realised that what made this holiday so memorable wasn't simply the beautiful surroundings. It was the people. As someone travelling on my own, feeling welcomed and acknowledged makes an enormous difference, and from my very first day I experienced exactly that. When I arrived, I discovered there wasn't a kettle in my Junior Suite, despite one being listed on the website. Having travelled all the way from England with around 180 Yorkshire Tea bags packed in my suitcase for my three-week stay (yes, I know!), you can imagine my disappointment! When I returned to my room later that day, a kettle had been provided. It seems like such a small thing, but it immediately told me something about the culture of this hotel. People listened. Of course, once I had my kettle, the wonderful team at the Margarita Bar quickly became accustomed to my rather unusual daily request. Whilst everyone else was ordering cocktails, I was asking for a glass of leche to take back to my room for the following morning's cup of Yorkshire Tea. They always smiled, never questioned it, and it quietly became part of my daily routine. Breakfast soon became one of my favourite parts of the day thanks to Quetzabel, Esther, Evangelina and the rest of the breakfast team. One morning the porridge had unfortunately caught slightly and tasted burnt. Initially my waiter wasn't convinced, but Quetzabel immediately recognised the issue and arranged for a fresh batch to be made. It wasn't really about the porridge. It was about wanting every guest to have the best possible experience. Esther especially stayed with me. Every morning she remembered that I drank hot water with lime and mint. She also commented on the fragrance I wore each day. Those little observations told me she wasn't simply serving breakfast; she was paying attention. Before I left, I gave her a small travel-sized vial of the perfume she'd admired. Completely unexpectedly, she surprised me with a beautiful pink cup and saucer inspired by my morning drink. It wasn't about exchanging gifts. It was about acknowledgement. Two people recognising one another beyond the routine of guest and member of staff. Bryan, who organised my excursions, was outstanding. He listened carefully, answered every question patiently and helped me experience some incredible days exploring Mexico. His professionalism and enthusiasm were exceptional. Marco Polo from the watersports team made the catamaran trip one of the highlights of my holiday. Safety always came first, but he also made sure everyone had a fantastic time. Although I chose not to have professional photographs taken, I regularly spoke with Nicole and Jorge from the photography team. Watching Nicole go to extraordinary lengths to capture the perfect photograph for families and couples was a joy to see. Their enthusiasm and positivity added so much to the atmosphere around the resort. They may not have taken my photographs, but they helped create wonderful memories for so many other guests. I also want to recognise Edgar and the entertainment team for the warmth and fun they brought to the resort, and Ariana, whose friendly welcome on the beach was always appreciated. Finally, I have to recognise the beach team. The sargassum seaweed is obviously beyond the hotel's control, yet every single day they worked tirelessly to clear the beach and preserve those incredible Caribbean views for guests. At the end of my stay, I left them a tip and, with the help of Google Translate, explained that I simply wanted them to know that I had noticed their work. Because I had. I also want to thank Joseph. We had exchanged a number of emails before my holiday while I was making arrangements, including airport transfers and a few other questions. During my holiday, he recognised me by the pool and came over to say hello. It was a lovely surprise and a gesture I genuinely appreciated. Looking back, it perfectly reflected everything I'd experienced over those three weeks—a hotel where people genuinely take the time to notice people. In fact, many of these moments stayed with me so much that I found myself writing about them on LinkedIn and Facebook whilst I was still at the resort. They weren't intended as reviews at the time; they were simply genuine reflections on experiences I didn't want to forget. Royal Catalonia Tulum reminded me that exceptional hospitality isn't created through grand gestures. It's created through hundreds of small moments where people take the time to notice people. They remember your routines. They remember conversations. They anticipate your needs. They take pride in their work. It's those hundreds of small moments that transform a lovely holiday into one you'll remember for years. The beautiful setting brought me to Mexico. The people are the reason I'll remember Royal Catalonia Tulum. My sincere thanks to everyone who made my stay so special. I'm sure I've unintentionally forgotten people who also contributed to my experience, for which I apologise, but every member of the team played a part in making this one of the most memorable holidays I've ever had. I very much hope to return.

Excellent, most relaxing holiday ever. Staff are amazing, full credit to the team. First class, will visit again. Special mention to Ariana and Miguel as they are the best.

We LOVE Ruben!!! He is sooo incredibly welcoming and his service is amazing!!!! He took us for a tour all around the resort and his energy was exactly what we needed after a long flight! This will definitely go down as one of our top vacations!
