Just came back from our 10th visit at the Grand Bahia Principe Coba. This is my honest review. Obviously if we have been 10 times, it`s because we love this place and this visit was no different. The staff are amazing, the food at the buffet was very good, lots of choices. You really can`t go wrong. For A la cartes, we did 4 (Gourmet, Portofino, Grand Tortuga and Tequilla). The first three were amazing. The only one we didn`t enjoy was Tequilla. It`s a mexican buffet and the food was so-so, lineup for tacos was very long all the time and they didn`t have chicken which are the only ones I like. But this one experience does not change our mind at all, it`s just a preference to not go to this a la carte again. I would go to any of the other three (even twice :)) The entertainment team this year was exceptional. They kept us busy having fun all the time. A shout out goes to Antonio, Eduardo, Damian and Ronaldo...amazing crew for sure. Every morning we had Norma as our our server for breakfast again this year, she is amazing. So pleasant, makes sure you have everything you need and is always smiling and chatting with people. She makes sure you are happy......loved the refilled mimosas every morning :) For dinner Alfredo was our server again this year (for a number of years now). It is so cheerful, attentive and just plain amazing. He moves so fast and ensures you have everything you need before you even know you need it :) I would recommend to anyone that wants amazing service to sit in Norma and Alfredo's sections. We also had great service at reception including a late check out which was much appreciated. We didn`t watch the shows so can`t comment but we do participate in the silent disco again this year which is always so much fun. Again, the entertainment team makes sure you sweat for sure! I recommend anyone looking to have a great time, please don`t read some of the bad reviews. Just go and enjoy! Don`t hesitate to ask me any questions! Thank Coba....see you next year for sure!

I went to this hotel last year around April/May (2023). I went here with family. The beach was located at a different hotel (still in the Bahia Principe complex). Pool was amazing, we went with babies too and there is also a baby area! Food was amazing! When we went my aunt broke her shoulder and we had to go to the doctors in the hacienda and then a few people went to the hospital with her. Nicolas was great and helped a lot. We had VIP so we could eat and swim at the other hotels so my personal favourite for the pool was Akumal. My stay was great and I hope that if you go your stay is great too!

“Best bartenders, especially at the playa!”

Librato and Adolfo, Renan are the best de bk makers and very cool and respectful to lines! If you find them ask for the DR no you want, mine was a margherita!

“Family of 5 with extended family trip”

This was our first trip to Cancun. The resort is 1.5 hrs away from the airport. We paid for a private shuttle $85 split 3 ways through Westjet. Well worth spending as after travelling all day with kids, it was ideal to not stress about having to spot at multiple resorts on the way. We were a group of 9 total and everywhere we went we were accommodated (at buffet, ala carte restaurants, pool area) We have 3 kids, aged 12, 10, and 6 years old. They absolutely loved the buffet and pools. They were clean and well-maintained. My youngest injured herself twice at the kids pool, they immediately proved excellent care, putting on band aids, etc. The kids club was probably our favourite part of this hotel, my youngest loved it and they treated them very well, even giving a small gift to my girls on their last day. The teens club is where my eldest went to cool off, they have video games, foosball tables and the staff socialize with them. My 10 year old daughter also enjoyed hanging in this area too. For the adults, we found the rooms comfortable except the beds. We were lucky our oldest slept in my parents room as there were not enough beds for a family of 5 in one room. The beds are very small. We made it work. The water pressure in the shower is minimal, the toilets do not flush well, we had mini ants all over our sink area but other than that the room was good. None of that really bothered us too much. We left a tip on the bed for housekeeping every morning and we had a well-stocked, clean room every day. One odd thing is no food is provided in the room...no chips, candy, welcome tray, etc. The mini fridge has 2 beer, 2 cokes, and water. Stocked daily. We were on the 3rd floor in villa 10. I like getting exercise so this did not bother me, however if you have issues with mobility you might want to book/request 1st floor access. This resort is needing updating for sure but we found it added to the older charm. Shuttle's take you to the beach and other resorts nearby. The beach fills immediately, and is very rocky to walk on so pack waters shoes. This is one resort they do not serve you food or drinks by the pool or beach, and you are not allowed to bring food to where you are. Also there is no room service. We stayed 10 days which meant we could book a la carte restaurants. You should do this immediately at guest services upon arrival or else you will not get a reso. Heads up we booked a restaurant that was no longer open...no one told us and we went to this restaurant at our reservation time to an empty run-down building. Upon inquiring at guest services, they stated it was written on our receipt. This is true, however it was on the side of the receipt...a random name but no instructions were provided so we lost out on our last a la carte. Again, not a huge deal. I will mention this only because it severely impacted my experience. I got violently ill after the first a la carte meal a few days into our vacay. I was the only one out of everyone to get sick, it lasted a few days and after that my stomach was not the same so I just didn't really eat...as I was always feeling off after. In saying this, I would not put blame on the resort, as it was my own body reacting negatively to whatever I ate. If multiple people in our group got sick I would have a different viewpoint...but we all ate the same foods and therefore I must have been susceptible to something. This resort is very family friendly, in fact if you have small kids you will love everything this resort has to offer for them. The staff treated my children like gold, and they had the best time everywhere we went. Be sure to tip in peso's and be generous, the staff definitely deserve it. One last thing to add, your towels will be removed by staff at the pool area if you are not there...we saw this happening and I found it quite odd. If you read the rules, it states you are not allowed to reserve chairs. Just a heads up as with young kids, you need shade ...so make sure you either leave a book, hat, clothing etc. so your towels are not taken off your chairs. I recommend staying at this resort, especially if you have kids. They will absolutely love everything this resort offers from the virgin fancy drinks, to the buffet area designed for kids, to the fun pool play area, to the video arcade in the sports bar, to the trustworthy kids club! Thank you to this resort for a wonderful extended stay for our group of 9!
