Having gone to kotor in the evening we realise what a good choice it was to stay here.

The first thing that struck me were the utterly stunning views, the hotel is authentic, rustic and the outside feels high end and very well appointed. It's position in the bay is to die for and having a morning coffee at the waters edge on a table for two with the imposing mountains surrounding you is really a moment to behold. There is a great pool with plenty of beds, a cute little private beach and a huge area to sit at the water's edge and drink in the wonderful vista. There is a small gym room which has some free weights; it's nothing fancy but it gets you out of trouble. I found the staff an utter delight, smiling faces, happy to be there and happy to help. They were very attentive, not pushy at all and we were on first name terms with some almost immediately.....I was never looking around for someone to bring me another beer, they just got it right. Breakfast was perfect, good/wide selection, very healthy options and not too much rubbish food. The rooms are exactly what you see in the picture.... they are fine, yes they are not newly refurbished and trendy but the style is in keeping. They are not expensive at all so they are about right and shouldn't really warrant criticism. The toilet is at a unconventional angle to the basin however I'm 6'2" and I had no problem so I don't know why some people even mention it. The rooms were clean and well serviced but to be fair my shower door was difficult to operate (room 203 if you are reading this) and needed fixing. The hotel is in a delightful spot away from the hustle and bustle of Kotor and is a 30-minute stroll to or from the hotel. People have pointed out there is not a pavement, which is true, the cars whizz past, which is true, however we didn't feel unsafe at all. Most of the time we walked side by side chatting away. If you have small children it would be better in a cab. The bus service looks a bit hit and miss so we just walked and it was a nice thing to do. You can easily get a cab which is very cheap and only 5 mins. I could have existed at the hotel and Kotor old town for a week and done nothing else. This for me is a relaxing type break and not a whistle stop to get everything done. Much is the same beauty and authenticity wherever you go. Having said that, the cable car is a must and a speed boat trip to a neighbouring site was a nice interlude. I'm generally quite critical of service and hotels etc but in this case I have nothing but good to say, I felt comfortable and welcomed from the first second I arrived to the sad moment I had to leave.

I had such a wonderful time at Hotel Splendido. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at ease as a solo traveller. The setting is peaceful and the views are absolutely breathtaking – the perfect place to relax and soak up the beauty of the area. A special shout out to Mila and Marko, who went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and looked after. Their kindness truly made my stay extra memorable. If you’re looking for somewhere tranquil with stunning scenery and genuine hospitality, I can’t recommend Hotel Splendido enough.

This hotel enjoys a trulybeautiful waterside location with breathtaking views over the Bay of Kotor. The water here is exceptionally clean, perfect for sea swimming, and there’s also a charming saltwater swimming pool where I never once struggled to find a sunbed. Very good pool side bar service including lunch time snack menu (pizza and burger etc). Our room was clean but clearly in need of some modernisation — a little tired in décor and fittings. The breakfast buffet was of very good quality with plenty of choice. However, the dinner menu was overpriced for the region, and I’d recommend taking the short trip into Kotor town instead, where there’s a vast selection of excellent restaurants at more reasonable prices. If driving there is a car park for approximatley 20 vehicles. But spaces fill quickly and on two occasions during a 7-day stay we had to park roadside, The staff… well, let’s just say they bordered on comically rude — curt to the point of feeling like I’d stepped into an episode of Fawlty Towers. It became more amusing than annoying after a while, but some customer service training certainly wouldn’t go amiss. In spite of this, the hotel’s excellent, quiet waterside location and stunning views mean we would very much visit again. If only the staff’s approach matched the beauty of the surroundings.
