Arrival at the hotel was lovely, a warm welcome by the security guard and concierge, he took our bags and helped us into the reception We were offered hot mint tea and biscuits or cold water to drink while we filled in the hotel forms. We paid our room tax and collected out pool towel cards at the same time. The reception staff are very friendly, with a smile that makes you feel like you are really welcome at the hotel. As early arrivals our room wasn’t ready, that was ok, we were given our wristbands and were able to wonder around the hotel and the lovely kept grounds. Have a few drinks and lunch before our room was ready Beautiful big family room, more than enough space as only 2 of us, the room was spotlessly clean, smelt lovely and fresh. The showers are fantastic, never an issue with water pressure, shower gel smells lovely, I did use the shampoo and conditioner all week and found it was fine with my hair, Rooms cleaned daily and fresh towels every day, the cleaning staff are super friendly and work so hard. There is a fridge in the room, water bottle so you can fill it with water from the water fountains available throughout the hotel. If you want an iron and kettle, you can get these from reception for a small fee Was never disturbed by any other guests, the beds super comfortable and air-conditioning works well. Fantastic nights sleep Meals – you can have your meals in the main buffet restaurant, this is a big restaurant, and the food choices are amazing, breakfast times you can have everything from cold to hot and savoury to sweet, I was lost for choice every day. The pool kitchen is also open for breakfast if you want to be outside for breakfast. Lunchtimes you can go into the buffet restaurant or the pool kitchen, which is a full kitchen, servicing, pizza, pasta, salads, hot meats and fish, burgers, chips the list goes on. It’s nice to sit outside and eat, plus the pool bar is close for your drinks or you can serve yourself drinks from the drinks station. A good selection of drinks, from cocktails to wine, beer and spirits 4pm don’t miss the Moroccan donuts, they are yummy!!! You won’t be disappointed Dinner, you have a choice of the main buffet restaurant, or you can book the Moroccan or seafood restaurant once during a 7 day stay, we tried the seafood restaurant and it was fantastic, this is a set menu of 5 course. Very worth giving it a try if you like seafood. The choice in the main restaurant is enormous, different options to choose from each night, I am a chicken eater, and I found different style of chicken each night. There is a section for Vegetarians and a kid’s section too If you have a food allergy, speak to one of the staff and they will call for the chef, and he will assist in making your dinner for your needs Thank you to Mostafa and his team at the pool bar and kitchen, your team are great and they work so hard, and always with a smile, they love interacting with the guests and are super kind and friendly In the main restaurant, thank you to the restaurant Manager, Abdou, Fatima to name a few, all the other staff who were helpful and welcoming. I was there when Morocco was playing in the world cup, the atmosphere was electric and such good fun to see Pool towel, take your pool card to the towel hut, opens at 10am. Ahmed and his team, you can change your towel as many times as you like during your stay, take your towel back when you leave and collect a card to return to reception on departure Entertainment and animations team with Walid, the entertainment manager, super friendly guy and has an amazing team, to name a few, Ali, Fi Fi, Ozzie, Adil, Mario, and the great Brazilian dancers doing the evening and some of the daytime activities. There are activities during the day you can join in with like Yoga, Aqua Gym, Dart, Volleyball, Dancing, the schedule is on a screen outside the restaurant. I spend a lot of time just chilling by the pool, the little extras, like the cocktails, fruit and canapes around the pool on most days was a super nice extra touch in the heat Evenings they have different themes, black party, tropical, white and Moroccan nights. Tarik the singer is fantastic, he has a great voice and a wide selection of songs. Some evenings they do a quiz in the downstairs bar at around 8pm Thank you to Mohammed and all his wonderful bar team, always welcome you with a smile and give the best service possible The evening shows start at 9,30pm my favourites were, Micheal Jackson, Bollywood, and around the world There are 3 pools, one heated and one not, plus a kids pool the area is kept clean and safe with Walid and his team of lifeguards The staff are completely amazing; I have not been to a hotel where I have met such genuinely enthusiastic people who work tirelessly to make you holiday memorable and special They are so friendly and want to get to know you and make sure you are happy with everything during your stay. They are all really special people This hotel should hold 10 stars, not 4.7 I cannot fault anything about my holiday it was the best stay I have ever had in a large hotel. Thank you also to a special guy Yassine from Guest services, he is one super guy, guest who have been numerous times, seem to talk to him a lot, he is so helpful and friendly. He will go out of his way to help if it is possible. IBEROSTAR WAVES FOUNTY BEACH – stay 5-19 July 2026 Arrival – Taking own luggage from drop off point to reception area, is not a good start for a hotel claiming to be 4 star. Filled in forms, had passport checked. Offered welcome drink of tea. Given wrist band. Changed £’s for MAD. Paid local & tourist tax of 246.40 MAD. Paid 420 MAD for safe (not the thing you should have to do in this day and age), given code to reset safe. Given room access card. Shown to room with luggage. Reception – Having stayed at 100+ hotels, this is the longest time & poorest check-in I have ever experienced. One person at desk, for about 20 people to check-in. Plenty of staff standing around, all they could say is “join the queue” Check out is at 12:00. Late check 15:00 for 400 MAD or for 18:00 600 MAD. There are toilets opposite reception. Currency exchange - Open 24 hours at reception. £1 cash for 12 MAD. There is an ATM in the reception hall. Rooms – The standard room is plain with the standard features. Each room has shower room, with toilet & bidet, soap/shampoo dispensers, hair dryer, shaving plug & mirror, towels. Unstocked fridge. Good air conditioning. Balcony with two chairs and table. Small clothes drying rack. Being on the top floor the balcony has concrete beams above, which make it difficult to sun bath under. Paintwork peeling off balcony walls. Sofa, 2 chairs & table. Electric sockets are 2 round pins, there are also USB points. TV has lots of channels, but few English speaking channels. No kettle or tea & coffee facilities. You can hire a kettle. Large clothes storage space. Good black out curtains. Room serviced daily changing towels left on floor, bedding changed upon request. Mercure main buffet restaurant – Used for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Good large selection of food. Go early to miss busy times. Breakfast from 07:00 till 10:00, Lunch 12:30 till 15:00, Dinner 18:30 till 22:00 with two sittings 18:30 – 20:15 & 20:40 – 22:00. Drinks are mainly help yourself. Down side some drink dispensers on occasions not replenished. Option, outside eating area. Some food items you expect to be hot are served warm/cold. Restaurant can be noisy, add to that people are using mobile phones. (I would ban the use of mobile phones in eating areas) Pool bar – Handy for drinks if by the pool and to take to beach. Snacks & ice cream from about 09:00. Limited selection of food for lunch. Beware when eating outside as it attracts sea gulls. Water - Available 24hrs from dispensers on landing near rooms. Bring your own container or buy one from reception. All-inclusive bar – Good selection of drinks, with non-inclusive drinks at additional cost. Limited seating area inside, with additional seating outside on balcony. Pool – There are two pools. The pools are well maintained. There are showers and a changing cupboard nearby. There are sunbeds around the pools, most with either a shaded canopy overhead or parasols. Most sunbeds are taken up by 10:00. Some sunbeds are “reserved” before 07:00. The area is crowded with sunbeds (not like the hotel photos) & not easy to move around. Grounds – There are extensive grounds, which are very well maintained. I saw 2 cats in the grounds. Towels – Collect first towel, using card, from kiosk near pool. Kiosk open between 10:00 & 18:30. Exchange towels as required. When leaving, exchange towel for towel card and hand in on checking out. Beach – Large, long & wide (when tide is out) sandy beach. A roped off private area is for guests, with about 35 parasols & 150 sunbeds. Access to the beach is via a security gate and across the wide promenade. You can take drinks into the area. Beware there are several friendly loose dogs in the area, that like to lay in the shade under a sunbed. There is a volley ball court, on a slope, nearby. The beach is regularly patrolled by pairs of police on horseback and police on quad bikes. There are vendors trying to sell goods on the beach. The beach has a gentle slope, that means to go for a swim you have to go far out, as the water is shallow. On a windy day the beach sand is blown around & can be uncomfortable. Large parties of children daily use the beach nearby, and it can be a bit noisy. The promenade is patrolled be police motor bikes & vans. Beware that the promenade is used by cyclists & e-scooters. Some scooter riders race along dangerously at around 30 mph/50kmph. Facilities - Range of shops, spa, hairdressers, gym, children’s club, archery area so small that you could throw an arrow at the target, tennis courts, games room. Well maintained toilets at various locations. Laundry facilities. Entertainment – Daily & evening entertainment on stage by pool. Very loud at times, ending around 23:00. Wi-Fi - Good reception throughout premises. Weather – Reached 33C one day, 28-30C other days. No rain. On the first 4 days it was misty until 09:00 – 10:00. Then blue skies. On the last full day it was mainly misty all day. Remember UV levels were 9 or 10, so be aware in misty or cloudy weather. Language – English generally understood by most staff. Location – About 45 minutes’ drive from Agadir airport by coach. Shops, banks & pharmacies a 500m -1km walk away from hotel. Drawbacks – Handle you own luggage. Having to pay for safe. No tea/coffee facilities in room. Unstocked fridge. Loud entertainment. Poor check in service.

“Sun bed seeker”

Hotel is good value for money. The staff and animation team are really friendly and helpful. Hotel and grounds are clean. Food is plentiful but is repetitive. Animation during the day is the same 7 days a week, evening entertainment is good. Sun beds you need to get down early to get one, towels on beds all day and nobody using them, staff need to be brave and remove. Swimming pools are clean. Shame they are not very shallow if you are not a good swimmer. Hotel room was spacious, the bathroom had really good shower. We had fresh towels every other day. Tip for the evening, even in July was a bit chilly so be warned. Not much close by if you want shops or bars.

Would I go back to this hotel. Yes I would. On arrival I entered the large reception area which was nice but not impressive. The staff spoke perfect English and the check in was simple and efficient. The dreaded room tax had to be paid.(£40) Also there is a charge for the safe in the room (£35) which is something I hate. Unlike other hotels we asked where our room was and without a fuss they allowed us to take our cases. There was a lift to all floors making access to the rooms easy. The room was clean and presentable with a television providing a good variety of channels. A balcony provided a good relaxing outdoor area. Shower gel and hair conditioner was provided. No tea and coffee in the room but a fridge is available. A large wardrobe is in the room. The pool area is packed with hundred of sunbeds all lined up like a cruise ship. The photograph given is not a true representation. There are not enough umbrellas. Keep off the grass signs prevent people from using the grassed area under the palm trees as shelter area. The beach has a roped off area with fine sand that provides a relaxing environment. Umbrellas are provide. The beach is next to the hotel. There is a 3 mile blocked paved walkway frequented by holiday makers and trade people. Security is excellent to the hotel, and in the open, with beach patrols. There are also plenty of lifeguards. The food to the hotel is varied on a week about cycle. There is something for everyone. I was disappointed with the fine dining nights as I believed the food in the buffet area was just as good. The only difference is that it was waiter service. Staff in the buffet ensure that you are looked after. The hotel is located not too far from the centre which was a simple walk and again 3 miles from the cable car. 50 Dirham (£4.50) was the standard rate. Taxi drivers will try it on. If you want to pay more they will accept it. The whole place provided a relaxing holiday. The staff were excellent with their friendliness. Most people have given this place a 4 star rating however I felt that there was something missing which took me few days to get my head around. The entertainment in the evening was poor for such a large hotel. People were like lost sheep after their meal. At 9pm the day was over. Maybe it was because of the football. There could have been more visible signs indicating what was happening during the day. This is on channel 0 on the tv.
