“Fabulous Stay Despite the Slow Service”

We recently stayed at this hotel and overall had a fabulous experience. The cleanliness and beauty of the hotel really stood out — the rooms were great and cleaned every day to a high standard. The gardens are stunning, and the pool area is excellent, making it a lovely place to relax. Another highlight was the staff, who were consistently friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help wherever they could, which really enhanced our stay. However, there were a few issues that need improvement. On several occasions, we experienced long waits of up to an hour for food and drinks, which was frustrating. There were also multiple instances where incorrect orders were brought to us. One particular experience at the bar was disappointing. After receiving the wrong drinks for the second time, the staff member who served us commented that it was the worst bar he had ever worked in. While he explained that he didn’t make the drinks himself, this didn’t inspire much confidence. Additionally, when I ordered a sangria — something I had enjoyed earlier in the stay — I was instead given a glass of red wine with apple in it. When I questioned this, I was told it was because they didn’t have sangria available, but this wasn’t communicated beforehand. In summary, while the hotel itself — particularly the cleanliness, rooms, gardens, and pool — along with the friendliness of the staff are major positives, the service at the bar and restaurant needs better organization and communication to match the otherwise high standard of the hotel.

Overall this is a pleasant hotel with lovely outdoor area in great location by the beach. The main restaurant and beach bar were both good, with helpful and friendly staff. However, the hotel is let down by the reception team. As others have said, it can take well over an hour to check in, even when it’s very quiet. The whole process is quite shambolic and definitely not that of a five star hotel. On top of that, some reception staff seem out of their depth and make basic mistakes. Clearly quite a few guests have the same issues so hopefully Sofitel will take the feedback on board and sort these things out.
