Just now leaving a review for my summer holiday in Lagos, a special place to me now. The hotel is clean, surrounded by lots of greenery and gardens, very bright and pretty. The bones of the hotel are on the older side, but they work around it, comfort was not sacrificed on any level. It does have great views and we really enjoyed our large balcony. I defo recommend it to all Lago travelers.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment on the ground floor overlooking the pool. The apartment was spacious and very clean. There is cleaning service every day and the towels are changed every other day, which was fine for us. There was a bowl of fruit and vase of flowers on our arrival which was a nice touch. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of crockery, etc and there was also a dishwasher. The pool area is lovely, relaxing, with no competition for sun beds. The grounds are well maintained with palm trees and flowers. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We visited the Vivendo restaurant 3 times during our two week stay and the food is always absolutely excellent. The accommodation is within walking distance of Lagos, if you enjoy walking (about 25 minutes) or there is a great bus service which we also used frequently (€1.20 to Lagos) and the bus stop is just outside the complex. The WiFi in the apartment is fine, and certainly better than when stashing a hotel in our experience. We were able to get English tv. Would definitely stay here again next time in Portugal and found it far more relaxing than being in a hotel. Thank you Vila Palmeira.

“a short stay in an idyllic place”

the place is extremly well situated 2 mn by feet from a hige beach. the rooms are spacious , extremly clean, everything needed has been thought of. we love the view from the balcony.The pool is quiet. the nights are peaceful , not disturbed.

This was our 1st trip to Portugal and the Algarve. We picked Lagos because it is centrally located in the Algarve, has beautiful beaches and still has that small town feel. We decided to stay at Vila Palmeira based on the 5 star Trip Advisor rating and reviews. My rating is also a 5 star. The units are extremely clean and spacious (daily service is included, towels changed every 3 days). The most beautiful beach is located directly across a quiet street. The beach is perfect for walking, running or sitting and you can follow it into town. The gardens are lush and tropical and the Staff are very friendly and accommodating. You really need to have a car in order to fully appreciate the surrounding towns unless you are an avid cycler. There is lots of free parking outside and in an underground garage. My following comments are not meant to be negative about Vila Palmeira. I just want readers to be aware of things that are not highlighted on their website...there is no elevator. If anyone has an issue with mobility, make sure reception knows that ahead of time so they can put you in a lower suite. As stated on their website, the kitchen is fully equipped, however, there are no amenities like a starter kit of tea, coffee, sugar packets, paper towels, dishwasher/dish detergent, cleaning supplies. Also, hair shampoo is not supplied. You need to know this especially if you arrive late at night. I suggested to the reception staff that they should add this list of items to the website. I have stayed in other similar places where they specify what they provide and what you provide. Luckily we arrived in the early afternoon, so after dropping our luggage off, we went shopping for the necessities If you are hoping for a clear view of the ocean, be careful. The vilas are staggered uphill, but most look out onto the roof of the vila in front of them. Only the penthouse vilas (which are all 2 bedroom) have a clear view of the ocean. Some second floor vilas have a partial ocean view. There is a lovely pool with lush gardens around it, however, the pool heater is not turned on in the low season, so it is a chilly swim. There are a couple of beach restaurants within walking distance and the onsite restaurant/bistro is very good. I would definitely come back to Vila Palmeira. Lagos is a great little place to use as a base from which to take day trips around the Algarve.
