An absolute Gem in Lagos! The hotel is traditional Portuguese style decor. Theres a homey feel as soon as you walk into the hotel. The gardens of the hotel are kept immaculate with beautiful plants and flowers. This hotel is a 10/15 min walk from the old town and a 25/30 min walk from the harbour (but it really doesn’t feel like it). We had a room facing the pool/ garden. The hotel was spotless and the rooms were cleaned everyday. The room was fully air conditioned, which was definitely needed. There was a complimentary bottle of wine, water and coffee pods for the N’espresso machine in the room also. The staff all around the hotel were lovely and really willing to help with anything you needed. Upon checking in the lady on the desk gave us a map with some of the best restaurants and beaches for cliff jumping, swimming etc. The hotel is split into two ‘houses’. We stayed in the guesthouse which was just across a narrow street from the main house (you can walk through or around the main house to get to it) it was very quiet. Just to note that there is no lift/elevator in the guesthouse so you need to be able to carriage luggage up some stairs. The pools are small however we really enjoyed this. For example there were 10 sun loungers around the pool in the guesthouse which were never full. We always got a sun lounger at any time of the day, in fact most days we were at the pool my ourselves. The breakfast in the hotel was top class and there were plenty of hot and cold dishes to choose from. There were often sweet treats that changes each morning (some mornings pastel de nata, strawberry waffles etc.) There is lunch served from 2pm-6pm, we had lunch here one of the days and it was gorgeous. Check out is at 12pm, (checking in) the hotel will store your bags until you’re ready to leave. You can still use the swimming pool and the hotel facilities. And the hotel kindly provided us with towels to use the showers and changing facilities before heading to the airport. Overall great value for money and we definitely hope to return.

We stayed with a group of 11 golfers for 7 nights in May having used this hotel for over 10 years. The very high standard of bedrooms, catering and excellent staff has made this trip very successful every time we visit. The nearby beaches, great golf courses and superb cliff walks ,make it the perfect location to explore the Western Algarve. We had 3 new comers on the trip this year and they equally impressed. Thanks again team for another great stay and hopefully we will be returning in 2027.

“One of the best hotel stays I’ve ever had!”

This hotel was beautiful, the rooms were clean and spacious, the staff was friendly, and the breakfast was delicious! It was a 10 min walk to Old Town Lagos. Very fairly priced. I would absolutely stay here again!

“A tale of two buildings and shout out to Martina!”

I did a bunch of research before booking and this hotel aligned with everything that we had hoped for and more....after a bit of help from the front desk and a very pleasant surprise. We didn't arrive until 11pm and our room was in one of the buildings on the main property. The room was spacious but seemed a bit outdated. The biggest negative though was that the mattress was hard as a rock with a thin almost useless topper (and I like a firm mattress), which for whatever reasons was an issue at five of the seven places that we stayed on this trip through Spain and Portugal. I've travelled thru Europe many times before and never had this issue before, so if you're a side sleeper like me, you could be in trouble. I don't know if this is a thing in Spain and Portugal or what the deal was on this trip. Thankfully, after talking to someone else at the front desk who didn't seem too helpful about our options when I asked for a second mattress topper, MARTINA BECAME OUR NEW BEST FRIEND. SHE WAS FANTASTIC!! Turns out Dom Manuel has another building/property around the corner called Villa Rosa, which she offered up to us at no extra cost. THIS PLACE WAS AWESOME!! Before moving rooms, she drove us over there, let us check the room out and then helped us switch rooms. The room was a two story suite of sorts, and the pool and area around it was modern (and not as dated as everything at the main property). This room had a comfortable mattress, and was clean, neat and quiet. Funny that there was a construction site across the street that looked abandoned because the workers apparently were on holiday. When the wind kicked up, which was most of the time, it made a noise like a stadium full of fans cheering at a World Cup match. Thankfully, the windows in the room must have been double paned because the room was quiet at night. I'm not sure I'd stay at Dom Manuel again if I could only get a room at a building in the main property, but I would definitely stay there again if I could stay at the Villa Rosa property!
