“Good placement”

Very nice place and high recommended, we went to enjoy the beach and a relaxing holidays. It's closed to the beach but it's far of noisy urban center maybe 2 km. I am going to come back again next year

We had a very nice stay in Perola do Oceano‏. The host, Alexander, was so nice and very helpfull. The apartments are big and spacious. It is close to the beach and the train station and there is a very nice pool.

When we booked through Booking.com they told us that the accommodation would be in touch about how to pay in advance of our arrival. We heard nothing & our telephone calls were not answered; neither were those Booking.com made on our behalf. When we arrived we could not find Perola do Oceano because the building did not display its name, until a helpful waitress at the Restaurante Jardim guided us there. A notice on the door of Reception told people that it was open at 1500 only and gave two numbers to ring. It was only after several attempts that a call was answered and someone came to take us to our apartment. Only once thereafter did we see staff from Reception, which was not open the one day we called there at 1500. Our apartment was very pleasant and spacious, with quality furnishings, décor and pictures. It was in a quiet cul-de-sac, only a few hundred yards to Meia Praia Station (trains to Lagos, Albufeira and Faro), the bus terminus (service to Lagos, unreliable in the evening) and the magnificent ocean beach (supervised bathing area, informal naturist area a few hundred yards to the left). However, the nearest shop was extremely basic, with the nearest supermarket about a mile away in Lagos. Access to our apartment was via rustic steps (without a ramp for cases etc.). These were not illuminated until long after darkness fell, and so were a hazard. There was no shade (not even an umbrella) for a late breakfast or a late lunch on the patio. Within our apartment a fuse tripped twice when we tried to use a socket in the lounge. The paucity of equipment made self-catering (even fruit and salads) difficult and restricted. There were no long or short sharp knife, breadboard, chopping board, peeler, colander, microwave dish, mug or teapot and there were only two tumblers. There were no bidet towels.

We rented a single bedroom appartment for 5 nights. It was light, spacious, clean, close to the beach, a few kilometers to the center of Lagos (we usually went by car and parked it near the train station) and several water parks in the area. Also, we felt that on premises were it was very safe for families with kids. Our 6 year old son slept on the couch in the living room, which was OK. For use at the beach we bought a cheap parasol at Continente hypermarket, together with a few plastic buckets and plastic tools to dig and build sand castles. Regarding the appartement complex there is some room for improvement: 1) The pool was somewhat disappointing. The water in the swimming pool was too cold, and too many chemical tablets were used to keep the water clean. It was the first pool during our entire holiday, where my son did not want to go in anymore after the first experience... Our constructive feedback on this met a defensive/ignoring reaction from the lady at the reception rather than action to see how to find a better balance between cleanness and comfort. In general my perception is that the swimming pool appears to be hardly used throughout the day, which is a pity, I think. Most people appear to just sunbathe next to it. 2) The floors in the apartments were noisy due to direct contact of wood furniture (chairs, tables) with the tiled floor. 3) The kitchen was poorly equipped in terms of utensils and we had to buy our own soap as well. If you want to buy utensils, we can reccommend the Continente hypermarket in Lagos or the Jumbo hypermarket in Lagoa (the latter has cheap fuel too). 4) The toilet seat did not match the toilet shape, and the lid tended to close unintentionally as a result, which was quite annoying when this happened during a nightly restroom visit.

First the good- spent three nights in a spacious two bedroom unit, one bathroom. Staff were very friendly on check in and offered us a drink which was much appreciated after a day of riding motorcycles. This is a little older property but is in good condition. Wifi was spotty in our room but near the pool it was very good. The pool is a little small given the amount of rooms but it never seemed packed, the beach is just across the street. There are many good and great restaurants you can walk to and it's a 5 min drive to Lagos's marina that is surrounded by restaurants and a grocery store. Not so good- despite the sign in our room stating that towels would be supplied for the pool and to not bring down room towels we were told they had no such thing. Interesting trivia point- when traveling on motorcycle there isn't any room for beach towels, I guess that's part of the reason every other hotel supplies them. - AC in one room only + 30c heat at night + no screens on the windows = many bug bites in the morning. - fuzzy 14" big screen TV in a place set up for long term stay. - didn't supply dish soap, uhhhhhhh we would have washed your dishes had you supplied some. - no soap or shampoo in rooms either
