We just returned from a wonderful, month long stay at the beautiful Vitor's Plaza in Portimão ! This property is in a prime location to tour the entire Algarve region and beyond. It is preferable to have a car as it is about a 8 minute drive to downtown Portimão and a multitude of restaurants are within a 5-10 minute drive. The hotel is ideal for long term stays as each unit has a kitchen with refrigerator, 2 burner hot plate, and microwave oven. We stayed in a 1 bedroom unit with large walk-in shower, livingroom with large tv and kitchen. Each unit has a large private balcony. The entire complex is very clean and rooms are cleaned daily by an amazing hard working house keeping staff! There are 2 outdoor pools (1 for tots) and a small heated indoor pool. A small gym to get in daily workouts. The front desk stars include Beatrice (Bea) who is the most pleasant and welcoming member of the team! Miguel & Fatima also are terrific. The bar has a daily Happy Hour from 5pm - 6pm, great place to meet folks. Bartenders, Carlos & Jose' were great! We highly recommend staying here at VITOR'S PLAZA ! Went to Vitor Plaza for 28 days last October and was very pleased with our stay. The room was spacious and well equipped. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were extremely friendly and efficient. The facilities were excellent, even though the indoor pool was rather small. The hotel had a gym, a mini golf course and a games room, they also have events every day for the guests. The hotel has daily cleaning for the rooms if needed. The hotel is in a great location, there is a bus stop out the gate or only a 12 minute walk to the beach at Praia du Vau or a 5 minute drive to Alvor where you can visit many seafood restaurants. A short walk to Mel and Canella to sample their fantastic range of pastries and cakes at very reasonable prices, I thought they had undercharged us. A very enjoyable stay at Vitor Plaza.

I will start by saying the staff were all lovely. Reception always present to help, restaurant and bar staff friendly and chatty. The hotel was very clean and looks appealing. Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend it for families with young children and it was quite boring for them. They have the outside pool but it was honestly far too cold for anybody to swim in, we jumped in a couple of times, as did others, and we all had to jump straight back out as it genuinely hurt where it was so cold, felt like 1,000 needles all over! The indoor pool was much warmer, but very small so quickly became overcrowded as everybody wanted to get in there as the other pool was far too cold. There is also mini golf & ping pong, which kept them amused for about half an hour or so. They advertised an arcade room but it was a small room with 4 or 5 little machines that weren’t very good or exciting, again provided about half an hour of entertainment for the kids. No entertainment team, nothing in the day time or the evening, not even music playing? Just no atmosphere which was a real shame. The double bed was comfy, we were a bit confused when we first arrived as they hadn’t said about the sofa bed for our 2 daughters, we pulled out 1 bed from under the sofa and couldn’t figure out where the other bed was! A quick phone call to reception and they told us the top of the sofa turns into the other bed we just had to put the bedding on it. The sofa beds weren’t comfortable, the kids were ok on them but myself and my husband wouldn’t be able to walk if we spent a night on them as they were rock solid! The breakfast buffet was fine, but the dinner wasn’t very good at all. We discovered it was better to swap the dinner for lunch, as the lunch menu was more appealing. There are some nice beaches nearby, have to get Ubers but they were only €3 / €4 so well worth it, and the Slide & Splash water park was a 20 min Uber away (about €9) which was brilliant! We spent the whole day at the water park and had so much fun! Overall pleasant enough hotel but not suitable for kids in our opinion.

We booked Vitor’s Plaza based on the Jet2 images and assumed the waterpark was on-site. We were also aware that it might be a walk to the beach, but we ended up needing Ubers for most trips, apart from a nearby patisserie and supermarket. The patisserie is about a 5-minute walk—turn right out of Vitor’s Plaza and keep walking. The supermarket is very close as well: walk to the bottom of the road, turn left, follow the road down, and it is on the right. Unfortunately, we found Vitor’s Plaza quite limited for families. There was no evening entertainment at all, and the bar stopped serving food fairly early, although drinks were still available. The on-site shop also closed at 6pm. The indoor pool was very small for the size of the hotel and often overcrowded. It was also freezing cold. The games room was limited and not very impressive, with prices such as €2 for a pool table, €1 for a racing game, €2 for pinball, €1 for a tattoo machine, and €2 for a small teddy machine. There is also mini golf on site, but it is not great. Tennis courts and a football pitch are available, and the gym has basic equipment suitable for a quick workout. However, overall, we feel Vitor’s Plaza is not really suitable for children. Our kids were very bored during the stay, despite us having travelled extensively with them before. The rooms are spacious, but not well set up for a family of four, with not enough proper beds. The double bed in the bedroom was acceptable in comfort, but the sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable—very hard and like sleeping on rocks. There is clearly space in the room for either an extra double bed or bunk beds, which would improve things greatly. The kitchen had two hob rings and a microwave, which we later discovered also functions as an oven. However, it was very slow—for example, it took around 1.5 hours to grill sausages, which was not practical. We also found it surprising that laundry facilities are not included, as we have never had to pay to use a washing machine or dryer at any previous accommodation. At Vitor’s Plaza, it costs €5 per wash and €5 per dry, which we feel is quite expensive. On a positive note, the staff were excellent throughout—bar staff, reception, and housekeeping were all very friendly and helpful. However, we do feel the indoor pool should be better supervised. We were told that children should not be in there without an adult, but we witnessed a situation where one child nearly drowned while unsupervised. Pool numbers should definitely be limited for safety. Overall, while the staff were fantastic, we feel the facilities and family suitability were disappointing.
