This is not your typical Portuguese apartment block. These 1 and 2 bedroom apartments are ultra modern and spacious in design the balconies are huge, more like another room. Plenty of space for a large table, sun loungers and other outdoor furniture. The one bed apartment we stayed in had a large living dining area which with clever use of screens easily turned into a second sleep area without compromising the access to the kitchen, seating area or balcony. The apartment was fully air conditioned but as we were on the top floor we mostly slept with the windows open which kept us cool at night. No bugs either which was a bonus. Kitchen was fully equipped with all mod cons including a washing machine( so useful), dishwasher and large fridge freezer. The views over the hills and adjoining golf course were spectacular. Apartments on the other side had nice ocean views and two nearby large water towers which are a local landmark. At night they are lit up and resemble large ice cream sundaes!! The pool area is well maintained with a children's paddling pool alongside. There is a tennis court on site and a small children's play area. A life guard is on duty during August and September and a small snack bar is in operation then too. Free wifi is available in the foyer and pool area. The apartments are in a quiet area of Vilamoura but restaurants, golf courses and the amazing Falesia beach are all within a couple of km. Most people use their hire cars to get about but there are plenty of taxis, hire bikes,buses and even a tourist road train within a short walking distance. All in all a perfect get away for a relaxing holiday for families and couples alike.

“Well equipped, lovely, would visit again ”

We visited for 4 nights in June and I was surprised at the quality for how reasonably priced it was. We had a spacious 1 bed apartment, the kitchen had everything you could ever need and the balcony was lovely. Beautiful pool area but not heated. There was no hairdryer or complimentary toiletries as specified but this wasn’t too big a deal. It is a bit far out and I would recommend downloading Uber for taxis to and from Marina (approx 5 Euro). There are no cafes or shops within walking distance. We had a lovely stay and I would return and recommend to friends.

“Great apartment block but.......”

We arrived late afternoon to an empty apartment block with no information on how to get our keys. By sheer luck a local guy hovering in the lobby happened to know The receptionist at another Garvetur hotel and called her for some info. It transpired that we needed to pick up our apartment keys from a hotel 5K away, luckily we had hired a car! We set off with a hand drawn map (as he didn’t know the address) and finally located the other hotel and our keys. Not the best start for us. The apartment was clean and spacious although a bit tired In places however on the whole a good base for us. There was no information book in the apartment so simple things like the nearest shop or area specific info were a mystery. We only found the communial rubbish bins the day before we left..... there is no one around to ask any questions to as you would have in other accommodation, we had to use email. The TV in our apartment was an old CRT with mostly Portuguese channels through a freeview box. Showering was a bit of an issue too as only 2 quick showers emptied the hot water cylinder, there were 3 of us so we had to split the showering. A family of 4 would struggle. The garden and the pool area are lovely and are well tended. There is a secure underground garage with an allocated space for each apartment with access to the floors by stairs or lift. You definitely need to hire a car if you stay here as it’s quite far out of the centre and there are a lack of pavements in the immediate area. Vilamoura is a lovely area and a walk along the marina in the evening is a must.

“Great accommodation, for golf or otherwise”

Our golfing group, Jiggers Dubai, stayed at the Residences at Vilamoura for seven nights during mid-October. We were most impressed by the accommodation, facilities and location. The rooms are lovely, they are quiet and, if you are lucky, you will have a great view over the golf course. I highly recommend this resort for your next vacation, whether golfing or otherwise. My only issue that I experienced was the delay, and continual follow-up, to ensure that these seven nights were credited to my Global Hotel Alliances account.
