Hotel is fantastic. Pool staff are lovely and the pool areas are very clean, you’re provided with towels supplied from the hotel itself (no need to bring your own). Breakfast was great, lots of variety like fruits, breads, cereals, hot drinks, juices etc…breakfast staff were very friendly and efficient. Room itself is lovely. Comfy bed, nice, clean bathroom, small kitchen area has lots of plates, cups, cutlery etc which is handy. Great view from the balcony which overlooks the pool/garden area and sea! The bars in the hotel could have more variety with drinks…especially with cocktails. The lifts are very dodgy, one was out of order the entire time we stayed and the one working kept stopping and starting and kept stopping on random floors. The plugs next to the bed were nearly coming out of the wall and would give us an electric shock but still worked. The aircon in the bedroom didn’t work however it worked in the kitchen/sitting area which still cooled down the room but still should be fixed. The freezer in the room did not work. We had icecream in there for 4+ days and they were not frozen, just liquid. Overall great hotel, few things should be fixed but would recommend others to stay here! ☀️

“A week staying at the Jardins d'Ajuda suite”

Spent a week here 27th April-4th may. The hotel was nice for a week. Its quite an old hotel and there are lots of things that could do with updating as mentioned in previous posts like decor being a bit dated, rooms could do with a bit of make over and some inside communal areas are quite run down too( walls water damaged, water leaks and stained carpets, old chairs). The outside pool area is absolutely spotless and is a beautiful area to spend the day being clean and tidy and well maintained, the inside pool is also great for the rainy overcast days and the surrounding gardens are very pretty and well looked after too. The staff are brilliant in all areas, the pool guys are nice and friendly, the night time barmen are really friendly and chatty and always gave us a nice welcome. The drinks are nice especially the cocktails. Entertainment was ok on an evening normally a singer or 2. We ate in the restaurant at breakfast time, it was ok, the same every day but always found something. The room was fine, nice and big, everything worked , lots of storage, good double glazing which worked well considering we were road side so was loud at times but the doors shut kept the noise down. The beds were harder than we are used to but thats our preference. Maids cleaned every day with fresh towels and toilet rolls. Location was good, it is a busy road with lots going on at times but didn't bother us. There's plenty of excellent eating places in close proximity to the hotel, a chinease buffet restaurant, an Indian, pizza, pasta,grills ,burgers ect then a massive shopping center with the standard KFC, McDonald's, supermarket, clothes shops, jewelery and so on. A walk into main funchal takes around an hour its a good 4k walk mostly flat so no problem if your ok with distance. But a yellow taxi was around 10E which we only did once as we didnt mind the walk. All in all we had a nice week and the weather was fairly kind to us considering what was forcast. We'd definitely stay at this hotel again if we came back to Maderia and would recommend it. “Functional, a little dated, but overall okay”

We stayed at the Jardins D'Ajuda hotel for 6 nights. We managed to get a good deal through Jet2 and then researched this hotel, so it helped us to manage our expectations about what it was like. Actually, we were very pleasantly surprised. The location is really good - lots of restaurants and shops nearby. One day we walked into Funchal, which took about 45 minutes, but a lot of it was overlooking the sea. It was a very pleasant, generally level walk. The facilities at the hotel were fine for what we needed - we were not going to Madeira to spend all day in the hotel, but it was a great base to explore. The room was fine - it had a separate bedroom and living room with a small kitchenette. We paid a little extra to have a garden view , which was very worthwhile. The room had a lovely deep bath with overhead shower, which was very powerful and refreshing. The outdoor and indoor pools were fine, and the outdoor one was never busy (it maybe different at peak times of course). The choice of meals at breakfast was diverse and met most needs - cooked food, cereals, fresh fruits, breads and a range of drinks. There was a bar and evening entertainment, but after full days out and about, we tended to go out to eat and then crash out in our room, so we never used the bar and never saw the entertainment. We found the staff pleasant enough. The hotel was functional and met our needs - we were not expecting too much and we were not disappointed. It did feel a little dated and tired, but it was by no means a disaster. We enjoyed our stay overall. If you don't expect too much and are able to see the positives this hotel has to offer - you will not be disappointed

The hotel was lovely and in a great location. There is a fantastic range of shops and restaurants close by. The hotel is 4* with lovely pools and the restaurant was great for breakfast - lots of different, fresh, food to choose from. Although it was a 4* hotel, I was given a 2* room. Very dated and the bathroom was awful. Everything was rusty: shower rail, mirror, toilet roll holder - anything metal was rusty. There was no shower, just an old shower attachment on the bath taps. The bath had tatty velcro strips in it, which I assume was to stop you slipping. I didnt use the bath... Just had strip washes and washed my hair over the side of the bath. Thankfully, it was only for 4 nights. The worst, most ridiculous thing though, was that there were NO plug sockets in the room. No way of using your hair dryer/straighteners or charging your phone and camera etc. The only socket was at the top of the wall where the wall mounted tv was. If you are staying here, bring a long extension lead! There was a small fridge, which wasn't working and the plug socket came off as I tried to unplug it.
