We chose this hotel as it had a room with a small kitchen, a swimming pool and gorgeous gardens. Turned out to have all that we needed and more. Breakfast every morning had a range of cooked food, lots of fruit and salads. Pool, both indoors and outdoors well serviced with pleasant staff always nearby. We ate out and also in. Buying food from the nearby Forum Madeira. We would stay again at Jardin d'Ajuda

“Spotless & well looked after”

Great position in new area of Funchal, all within 1min of walking. You have bus stop at main avenue Monumental, across from apartment/hotel Shopping Centre(Madeira Forum). Great position in new area of Funchal, all within 1min of walking. You have bus stop at main avenue Monumental, across from apartment/hotel Shopping Centre(Madeira Forum). Which has large supermarket(pingo doce). usual outlets Zara, H&M, mobile phone needs( other half had to get a new charger). Go to supermarket. Either side of hotel you have Restaurants/Cafe especially recommend Himalayan, Cafe directly across for quick snack. Turn right from hotel you have little cafes there too all good On monumental try Alfonzo Italian, & if you cross Monunental go down another 2 levels past Bahia Balail the promenade this is great walk to Ponta Cruz. You can also pick up bus route anywhere on Monumental for Funchal, ask for Centro(across marina stop). Or head other direction Camara de lobos. Chose Rodesto white bus this will drop top of hill in village. Yellow bus(green line) drops at walkway past cement works 10min walk on lovely boardwalk into village. Jardin Suites have rooms with small kitchen. Choose b.fast as a vast choice. All staff helpful, Simao(head waiter, matre de). They will accomodate you whatever you need. Lounge is cosy, with entertainment each night(not Sunday). They are great musicians, even if only an organ, & singer. Alot of song mixes you think you have a full band. Enjoy the atmosphere & staff again superb Bruno(head barman, Raul, & i think Rau). I enjoyed Poncha(local drink) try passionfruit(macaraju in portuguese) All areas are spotless from tropical gardens(maintenance team are superb) to the indoor pool(leisure staff brilliant). You wouldnt need to go off site. From reception, concierge to snack bar cannot fault. This is older hotel, so expect that. Fridge a bit noisy, walls a bit thin. But rooms are cleaned every day if you want(maids are so friendly. You can just ask for shower gel, clean towels. B.fast i couldnt make it as migraine(ask & you can take something to room). People are so accommodating.

We stayed at the Jardins D'Ajuda hotel for 6 nights. We managed to get a good deal through Jet2 and then researched this hotel, so it helped us to manage our expectations about what it was like. Actually, we were very pleasantly surprised. The location is really good - lots of restaurants and shops nearby. One day we walked into Funchal, which took about 45 minutes, but a lot of it was overlooking the sea. It was a very pleasant, generally level walk. The facilities at the hotel were fine for what we needed - we were not going to Madeira to spend all day in the hotel, but it was a great base to explore. The room was fine - it had a separate bedroom and living room with a small kitchenette. We paid a little extra to have a garden view , which was very worthwhile. The room had a lovely deep bath with overhead shower, which was very powerful and refreshing. The outdoor and indoor pools were fine, and the outdoor one was never busy (it maybe different at peak times of course). The choice of meals at breakfast was diverse and met most needs - cooked food, cereals, fresh fruits, breads and a range of drinks. There was a bar and evening entertainment, but after full days out and about, we tended to go out to eat and then crash out in our room, so we never used the bar and never saw the entertainment. We found the staff pleasant enough. The hotel was functional and met our needs - we were not expecting too much and we were not disappointed. It did feel a little dated and tired, but it was by no means a disaster. We enjoyed our stay overall. If you don't expect too much and are able to see the positives this hotel has to offer - you will not be disappointed

“Good location”

Very happy with my stay here. Room was spacious with nice private sea view balcony. Kitchenette was a bonus. The deep bathtub was most welcome after a day of sightseeing. Very happy with my stay here. Room was spacious with nice private sea view balcony. Kitchenette was a bonus. The deep bathtub was most welcome after a day of sightseeing. Much better than the showers that you get in newer hotels. Yes it's slightly dated and would benefit from new mattresses and extra power points but overall it ticked all my boxes. No complaints and offers good value. Great location as a base to explore island. Bus stops outside and huge shopping centre opposite. Forum centre included a large reasonably priced supermarket that was very handy if you want to save money. Also had a food court on top floor. Breakfast was fine. Same quality as other similar hotels and coffee was good. No problems with WiFi. I would stay here again as it met my expectations.
