We visited back in June for a week and we had a great time. We were a family of 4 adults and 2 children. It was our second time visiting our first in 2023. The rooms have had an update since our last visit going from a full kitchen to a very basic kitchen area consisting of a kettle, fridge, microwave and coffee machine. This was fine for us as we didn’t use the other appliances when we visited last time. The hotel itself is always very clean and tidy. The pool area and beach club is always clean and we never struggled to get sunbeds regardless of the time of day, this could be different during school holidays. The food is fine, it’s not going to win any awards but we found something to eat every night. You’ve always got chips and pizza for the fussiest. But we enjoyed lots of salads and freshly cooked meats. There’s a good variety of hot and cold. I must mention Alex who runs the restaurant. He was there when we last visited and he is lovely. Super friendly and great with kids, our daughter loved him. She used to look forward to meal times so she could see him. The only negative I can mention is the new cup system when getting drinks. You’re given a cup and that’s your cup when getting your drinks whilst there. We left ours in the room on a few occasion and it was annoying having to go and get it to get a drink. Also if you change drink choices it’s not cleaned out. But overall good family holiday. We would recommend.

This was our second trip to Holiday World Village Benalmadena. It has recently been refurbished and looks much fresher for it! It is a very family friendly hotel and particularly great for families with young kids. Ours are 1 and 3.5 years old. There are activities all day long. The pool had so much going on that we didn’t even make it to the paid for activities for the children. There is a soft play and an outdoor play area and a small arcade as well as evening entertainment for the children. Rooms are nice and clean. Overall the hotel is lovely and clean. Staff were cleaning at all hours of the day. The Astro turf by the pool was hoovered every single morning. Beach towels provided Small gym opens 10am-2pm and 3pm-6pm (I think!) it was clean and had everything I needed. We never struggled to find sun beds and it was very busy when we went. Small shop with almost everything you might need - I actually found a sewing kit! Food at main restaurant - amazing choice, always something suitable for vegans and vegetarians which we are - I would say this hotel has had the best choice of food I have ever experienced as a veggie at an all-inclusive buffet. Some of the food labels could be clearer, we did almost eat ham on one occasion as the label was not clear. Snack bar is great - lovely pastries available almost all day long. And small tubs of ice cream available as part of the the all inclusive deal. Noise - it can be noisy in the day time and evening, don’t expect to sit on your balcony in peace until after 11pm. But your kids will be entertained ALL day long

Overall, we had a good holiday and, for the price we paid, we felt it offered good value for money. However, we usually holiday in Turkey, where the level of service and hospitality is on another level, so that naturally influenced our expectations. Check-in was quick and efficient, which was appreciated after travelling. That said, the welcome lacked the warm customer service you would hope for. As a family of four arriving with four large suitcases and hand luggage, a porter service would have made a great first impression. We stayed in a family room, which was spacious and well laid out. It had a separate bedroom, a large sofa bed in the living area, a kitchenette, and a generous-sized bathroom with both a bath and shower. It worked really well for our family. The pool facilities were very good. There is the main pool by the hotel and another pool area with water slides across the road, connected by a bridge. There were plenty of sunbeds available, and we really liked that the majority couldn’t be reserved before 10am, which prevented the usual early morning towel-hogging. The food was decent but didn’t offer a huge amount of variety. The children’s section was particularly disappointing, with limited choice throughout our stay. The food was perfectly acceptable and we never went hungry, but it’s an area that could definitely be improved. We also tried both à la carte restaurants, which were enjoyable but not exceptional. The daytime entertainment was good, with the entertainment team making a genuine effort to get guests involved around the pool. We didn’t see much of the HV Characters during our stay, which was a shame for younger children. The football academy was a nice idea, but unfortunately the staff running it didn’t bring much enthusiasm or energy. It’s no surprise that participation seemed quite low, as it lacked the excitement needed to encourage children to join in. The evening entertainment was also okay. We’ve experienced better shows at other Holiday Village hotels, but the entertainment team still worked hard and did their best to create a fun atmosphere. The biggest disappointment of our holiday was the apparent norovirus outbreak. Our entire family became ill, and we spoke to at least five other families who experienced the same thing. We also witnessed several other children being sick around the resort. For us, the illness lasted between two and three days and had a significant impact on our holiday. We reported this to both the hotel staff and the Holiday Village representatives but felt the response was lacking. We were told that unless a doctor confirmed it was norovirus, there was little they could do. While we appreciate they cannot officially diagnose guests, it was clear that a highly contagious sickness bug was affecting multiple families. We would have expected more empathy, reassurance, and visible measures to help reduce the spread. We also later discovered reports online suggesting norovirus had affected the hotel at the end of May, making the response even more disappointing. Overall, we still enjoyed our holiday and felt it represented good value for money. The spacious rooms, pool areas, and hardworking entertainment team were definite positives. However, improvements to customer service, food variety, children’s activities, and the handling of illness outbreaks would make a significant difference to the overall guest experience.
