I booked Hotel Alay for my husband’s 40th Birthday and for our first weekend abroad with our children, and I genuinely could not have picked a better place to stay! We have visited Benalmadena a few times and this was by far the best hotel location wise we have stayed in. Positives - the hotel is in a prime location for being able to explore the coastal areas of Benalmadena, a stones throw away from the fantastic marina with restaurants and bars in abundance, and to the right of the hotel is the promenade and beach again plenty of beautiful places to eat and drink. Even though this is what I would consider to be quite a central location we didn’t experience any excessive noise from cars or people walking home at night. - this hotel is possibly one of the cleanest hotels we have ever stayed in, we always commented on how lovely all areas of the hotel smelled, the common areas, bar, restaurant and pool area always immaculate. Our room was cleaned each day with fresh towels replenished. - we stayed bed and breakfast, and the breakfast was lovely, plenty on offer, food was always hot, and food was always replenished by staff, again the waiting staff did not stop constantly going round cleaning and tidying. - the staff deserve a mention themselves, all the staff we encountered on our holiday were friendly and welcoming Negatives - the only negative I have and even then it is absolutely minor, is that the rooms themselves are in need of being updated, there isn’t really any proper storage for your clothes and the bathroom definitely could do with being modernised. Having said that, our room had the most amazing view from the balcony, we stayed in room 455, the bed was absolutely massive and so comfy, and came equipped with a fridge and a safe which was free to use. We thoroughly enjoyed our break away and we have both said that when we are ready to leave the kids again, we would come back here in a heartbeat!

Hotel is in a great location with a lovely pool area and Bar, breakfast was fabulous but the rooms not so much, very basic with a lack of drawers and no wardrobe as such just shelves with a curtain across, no where to hide anything ie underwear etc everything on show, bathroom was very small, headb… more

Hotel is in a great location with a lovely pool area and Bar, breakfast was fabulous but the rooms not so much, very basic with a lack of drawers and no wardrobe as such just shelves with a curtain across, no where to hide anything ie underwear etc everything on show, bathroom was very small, headboard was a bit battered, lots of wasted space with chairs and a table which you don’t really need as they have some on balcony, large standing lamp which we never used once, please get some drawers I like everything tidy and found it was hard without them, needs some TLC.
