I stayed at Hotel Nerja Club & Spa for 5 nights as part of a package holiday with easyJet, and overall I had a really enjoyable experience that I’d happily recommend to others looking for a relaxed Spanish getaway. The location worked really well for me. Nerja itself has such a charming, small-town village feel which is so peaceful, scenic, and a refreshing contrast to somewhere busier like Málaga. The hotel is slightly uphill, which is worth noting, but it comes with a big advantage. It’s incredibly convenient with a Mercadona right next door and a Carrefour Market directly opposite which was honestly one of the best parts of the stay. Being able to quickly grab snacks, drinks, or any essentials made everything so easy. The beach is about a 15-minute walk downhill, which is lovely on the way there, but the uphill walk back can feel a bit tiring, especially in the heat. Transport-wise, it’s fairly local and quiet and there aren’t many buses nearby, but the main coach station is about a 20-minute walk away which have coaches running all day that take you to the city, near the town centre. The atmosphere in Nerja is absolutely picturesque. It’s the kind of place that feels tucked away and authentic, surrounded by caves and overlooking stunning blue waters. I visited between late October and early November, and the weather couldn’t have been better with sunny skies, warm temperatures, and just the right level of humidity thanks to the coastal location. Being slightly elevated, the hotel offered incredible sunrise and sunset views, which were a real highlight of the trip. Despite its calm vibe, the nightlife is still lively enough, with plenty of restaurants, bars, and spots to explore in the evenings. The rooms were spacious and a great fit for two. While the hotel isn’t particularly modern or luxurious, it had everything we needed and was laid out well. The bed was comfortable, and there was enough wardrobe space for two people. Our balcony overlooked the swimming pool and surrounding houses, and waking up to that view each morning was genuinely beautiful. One standout feature and I don’t say this lightly was the water pressure in the shower. It was hands down the best I’ve ever experienced anywhere. A small detail, but it made a big difference! Amenities were fairly standard. There weren’t many extras in terms of toiletries — just the basics like hand soap and a 2-in-1 body wash/shampoo — but that wasn’t an issue for us. The in-room fridge was definitely appreciated, especially with the supermarkets so close by. The breakfast buffet was well stocked and a great way to start each day. For a package holiday, the value was excellent. It offered everything we needed at a very reasonable price, and I felt like we got a lot for what we paid. Cleanliness was also exceptional throughout the stay. The room was consistently spotless, and all areas of the hotel were well maintained. I would like to state that the hotel was fairly busy, but noise levels were moderate and never disruptive. It felt lively without being overwhelming. Overall, the service was fantastic from start to finish. We were warmly welcomed at reception, and both check-in and check-out were smooth and efficient. Housekeeping did a great job every day, and it was always nice to come back to a freshly cleaned room. The kitchen staff were also very friendly and helpful — overall, they all really contributed to making the stay feel easy and enjoyable. Hotel Nerja Club & Spa may not be the most modern or luxurious hotel, but it delivers where it matters — comfort, cleanliness, convenience, and great service. Combined with the charm of Nerja itself, it made for a really memorable and relaxing holiday. I’d definitely consider staying here again.

“An okay hotel but the food is the worst we have experienced”

Ok so I have given this hotel a 3 out of 5 because i am trying to be fair. It is a budget hotel and you therefore need to have realistic expectations. For example, the hotel itself is a little tired and needs updating and the gym equipment is poor quality, but it is clean. The reception staff were all first class. Very helpful and very friendly. The hotel is a little out from the main village but we like that, however it’s a steep climb back up from the beach (which is good if you want to get some exercise). Now for the bad stuff. We stayed in room 241 which is just beyond the main seating and bar area. We knew we had booked a budget room but we were led to believe it is considered a budget room because it had no balcony. They forget to tell us about the noise levels. Even without any music playing, the noise of people chatting when it was busy was unreal . If you fancy an afternoon nap or an early night (before 10.30) then forget it as it’s too loud to sleep. And when the live music is on it sounds like the singer is in the bedroom with you. The worst part of our stay by far was the food. Poor variety, poor quality and poor quantity. Totally inedible. We made sure we had our main meal of the day in the village at lunch time because we knew we would eat very little at dinner. On one evening I simply had some ice cream because the choice was so bad. For breakfast, we usually had fresh fruit (pineapple and melon) followed by fried eggs on toast however you had to get there early because going at 9.15 meant there was no fruit left and the eggs were swimming in grease and the yolk had gone hard. We therefore had toast that morning. If the food had been better with more choice, it would have made a difference to our stay Overall, not a bad place but I strongly suggest eating out

Overall, our stay was okay, some good ,some not so good. Our room had lovely sea view, from the balcony and was clean, but in need of some updating, particularly in the bathroom. The pool area was quite nice. Our biggest disappointment was the food, particularly breakfast.

We arrived on 28th December, in the rain, early afternoon. The front of the hotel is a little disappointing on arrival. There was a queue of people all arriving at reception, our room was the only one ready. The receptionist said “Arh, you have a special room” We’d booked & paid extra via easy jet, for this room. 4th floor (406) at the back of the hotel. It was large, with a good size bathroom, and a good size balcony ( bigger than many of the others) & overlooking the pool & it had a good sea-view. Some other rooms overlook the main road, a supermarket or a building site. The lift to the room was very jumpy, But worked adequately. The hotel in general was clean & tidy, with plenty of evidence of housekeeping, floor mopping, & nice smells. The hotel was nicely decorated for Christmas & new year. Our room consisted of twin beds, pushed together, bedside tables with sockets & lights. Plenty of storage space with a few hangers, a safe, a large mirror, a tv, a small fridge, kettle & mugs, (no tea or coffee supplied) air conditioning, thick curtains to shut out light, sliding patio doors the the balcony, with 2 chairs & table ( no airer to dry swim wear towels) The beds had sheets, blankets & throws, plus extra pillows. Plenty warm enough for December nights. The bathroom was a little tired, but consisted of a bath, with a shower over & shower screen. The water was always hot & the water pressure was excellent at all times. There were clean towels, that were changed daily. Not luxury towels, but serviceable. Shower gel & hand wash were supplied & a basic hairdryer in the bathroom. Our room was serviced everyday. I did noticed that the red painted wall behind our bed was very dusty and definitely needed attention, otherwise the room was clean. The hotel spa assess has to be booked. It is very small, it consists of a very small, square, shallow pool with 2 massage jets, a standard jacuzzi, & a gym with very minimal equipment. You must wear a swim hat in the spa, which can be purchased for €2 from reception. Towels can be hired for a refundable €10 each. Mostly in our 3 night stay we had sole use of the area, on our booked sessions. We had booked half board, the breakfast was good, with a good selection of choices of cooked and cold foods. Breads, cereals, porridge, pastries, eggs, bacon, cold cuts & cheeses. Fruit & jams etc. Coffee & juice machines. Dinner was acceptable & edible, we could always find something to eat, meats, fish, vegetarian options, plus breads, cheeses, cold cuts, salads, desserts & fruit all available, but “hot” food was not overly hot (microwave available) & personally I found everything very bland. I’m not a fussy eater, but I felt that the chefs were catering for the older generation. I would also suggest going to dinner when the dining room first opens, although this does entail queuing down several flights of stairs, until the doors open. There is a small bar in the restaurant, but there are no toilets available & you do need to go back upstairs to access them. ( or use the lift) The main bar ( sports bar) was very busy, but the service was good. And drinks were very reasonably priced, especially in happy hour - 2 Prosecco’s & 2 beers for a total of €6.50. And calypso coffees were very good! The pool & outdoor seating area were very clean, and washed down regularly. We used the outside pool, despite it being December. The foods & snacks served from the bar were very good & reasonably priced. And definitely better than the evening food in the main restaurant. The location of the hotel is a little outside Nerja, approximately 25 minute walk to The Balcon & seafront, the shops & restaurants. Most of the walk is hilly, or along the cliff path with steps, so probably not ideal for anyone with mobility issues. Although there is a bus service near by. Also 2 supermarkets near by. A taxi from the centre of Nerja back to hotel at night was €6.50. All in all, it was a nice, relaxing 3 night break between Christmas & new year. The hotel was clean, all staff were pleasant & helpful. And food was acceptable for the price we paid.
