Hotel Duque de Nájera was fantastic. We had a 2nd floor room with a small balcony facing the street. Hotel Duque de Nájera was fantastic. We had a 2nd floor room with a small balcony facing the street. The room had quite large beds and a rather complete bathroom (shower - with plenty of space - plus bidet, bathtub) with 2 bathroom sinks. The room had a reliable locker and coffee/tea plus TV screen (although we did not use that). We had breakfast buffet which was good. We could, conveniently, rent bicycles for explorations beyond walking distances. The location near the beach/harbor with plenty of restaurants nearby and easy ferry boat access to Cádiz was very convenient. I have only positive things to say.

It's the second time we stay at this hotel. The location is amazing, right next to the beach and the town, with a beautiful and very comfortable pool. The staff is friendly and they will do the best to accommodate you. We have enjoyed our stay, the room was very comfortable and welcoming, but there are certainly things to be improved. This is a 4 star hotel, and the kind of services I expect from this hotel are on par with that rating. In the past, you could get a pool towel right next to the pool. Now, you need to give a 10$ deposit in the reception in order to get a towel. I understand that this is due to the fact that people have stolen towels in the past, but having to handle cash deposits to take a towels is absurd for this kind of hotel. Make me sign a piece of paper, add it to my room. Just don't ask me for cash like a cheap hotel. If I don't feel trusted to a certain point, I can't feel comfortable. The food at the hotel is also touch and go. The breakfast buffet is decent, but we have certainly had better in other 4 star hotels this trip. The orange juice is not natural, but rather a concentrated concoction. In Spain, of all places, this should be considered a culinary crime. The scrambled eggs look and taste like some powdered egg product (you can get an omelette made right there if you want to, but why are the other eggs not the same?). The restaurant for lunch is too expensive and the food not enough for the price. You are better off going across from the hotel to any of the many restaurants around town. Dinner is decent. Its price might be worth the convenience of not having to go out if you don't want to, but again, you can get better food and for a similar or cheaper price 2 minutes from the hotel. So a great hotel, in a great location, with great staff and wonderful rooms and pool, but with a lot of room for improvement in the food department.
