⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We have just returned from an incredible 8-night stay at Astoria Playa and honestly couldn’t recommend it highly enough. 🩷 From the moment we arrived, the staff were so welcoming and friendly. Every member of the team worked incredibly hard and always had a smile on their face. The hotel itself is spotless, modern and beautifully maintained, with attention to detail everywhere you look. The pool areas are the best we’ve experienced. There were always sunbeds available, the atmosphere was relaxed without ever feeling dull, and Kimera Beach Club was the perfect place to enjoy drinks, chill DJ music and delicious lunch and snacks throughout the day. You could’ve comfortably stayed there all day with staff looking after you. The location is also ideal, just a short walk to the beach, with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants nearby (although in my opinion there is no need to venture out anywhere else for dinner..) The food exceeded our expectations. Breakfast had an excellent variety and everything was fresh and well presented. Dinner was equally impressive, plenty of choice and dishes that changed daily, so we never got bored despite staying for over a week. I always got excited thinking what was for dinner that day.. 🥹 Our room was spacious, comfortable and kept immaculate by housekeeping every day. One of the things we loved most was the adults-only atmosphere. It created such a peaceful, relaxing environment, making it the perfect place to switch off and enjoy quality time together. 💞 I wish I had better photographs of our stay at the hotel but the ones I have will give a little snapshot of the lovely time we had. On the last night I had to ask for the ingredients for the rosé sangria because it was heaven in a glass and I drank it all day every day 🍷 Thank you to everyone at Astoria Playa for making our holiday so memorable. I wish I could remember the names of everyone we interacted with. Danny/Dani and Paola were among them. We made some wonderful memories here. Thank you

“A little Oasis”

This was our second visit and definitely will not be our last! This is a little Oasis in the middle of Alcudia. We love the warm welcome you receive when you arrive and this exceptional level of service was consistent throughout our stay. The staff, as mentioned in many of the reviews are outstanding. The hotel owner, Pep, leads by example and is present every day talking to staff and guests. The food is varied and of a very high standard. The hotel is spotlessly clean too! The pool has the best sunbeds but my ultimate highlight is the music played at Kimera by the talented and lovely Vicky. As I said in my review last year, I would be one of the last by the pool and would not leave until Vicky had finished her set! I loved every minute. My only criticism or actually more of a concern is that the floor surrounding the Kimera pool is incredible slippery and people have fallen and in one instance that I witnessed, the guest needed to go to hospital with his injury. This does need to be urgently looked at and rectified. Thank you to Hotel Astoria Playa for another lovely holiday!

First Impressions & Check-in Our first impressions were excellent. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. Check-in was quick and seamless, and we were offered a complimentary drink while everything was processed. Our luggage was also taken to our room for us, which was a lovely touch and set a great first impression. Room & Jacuzzi We booked one of the jacuzzi rooms, but unfortunately I wouldn't recommend paying the extra money for this room type. The jacuzzi took an incredibly long time to fill, making it impractical to use. After using it once and draining the water, we noticed a large amount of sand left behind, despite the fact we hadn't even been to the beach. This suggests the jacuzzi or its filtration system hadn't been cleaned properly after previous guests. It was disappointing, and ultimately felt like a complete waste of money. We only used it once and wouldn't choose this room type again. Aside from that, the room itself was clean, housekeeping did a great job with fresh towels every day, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. Bathroom We experienced a leak in the shower which caused water to spread all over the bathroom floor. We reported it three separate times, but unfortunately nothing was done to fix the leak itself. However, during our stay the hotel replaced the shower with a brand-new one, and I have to say it was incredible. If you're lucky enough to stay in Room 520, you'll probably have one of the best hotel showers you'll ever use. The water pressure is outstanding. Pool Areas There are two pool areas, each with a very different atmosphere. Smaller Pool This area is peaceful and relaxing, making it ideal if you're looking for somewhere quieter. Unfortunately, it didn't appear to be cleaned particularly well. The small tables beside the loungers often had dried drink spillages left from previous days, the pool contained quite a bit of sand, and there were noticeable green marks around the pool which made it look dirty. The showers by this pool also didn't work, and there is only one shared toilet available nearby. Main Pool The main pool has a much livelier atmosphere, with music playing from around 10:30am and regular entertainment such as live singers and saxophonists. It creates a fantastic holiday vibe and was one of our favourite parts of the hotel. Like the smaller pool, however, the pool itself had noticeable green staining, which didn't give the impression of being particularly clean. There are also no toilets directly by the main pool, meaning you have to walk back into reception whenever you need the facilities. Sunbeds The large day beds are a nice feature and very comfortable. However, the parasols are fixed to the beds. This means if one person wants shade and the other wants to sunbathe, it's impossible because the umbrella covers the entire bed. Adjustable parasols would make these beds much more practical for couples. Staff & Service Without doubt, the biggest highlight of Astoria Playa is the staff. They genuinely provide some of the best hospitality we've ever experienced in a hotel. Every member of staff was friendly, approachable and happy to chat with guests. Nothing ever seemed too much trouble. The pool service was excellent too, with staff regularly bringing drinks directly to your sunbed so you rarely needed to leave your seat. The people working here are a real credit to the hotel. Food We stayed half board and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. There was an excellent selection available at both breakfast and dinner, everything was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. I'm not usually a fan of buffet restaurants, but this was genuinely one of the better buffet experiences I've had. The only disappointment was that water isn't included with the evening meal, which feels like something that really should be complimentary. The Biggest Downside – Reserved Sunbeds The biggest issue with this hotel is its sunbed policy. Many of the best beds around the main pool are reserved for people who aren't even staying at the hotel. The hotel rents these beds out to day visitors, meaning paying hotel guests often have very limited choice. We regularly saw guests coming down hoping to find a bed, only to be told there weren't any available, while numerous reserved beds sat empty simply waiting for external visitors. One morning we counted 17 beds reserved, despite there already being a limited number available. When you're paying a significant amount to stay at the hotel, it's disappointing to feel like non-residents are being prioritised over paying guests. Hotel guests should have first choice of the facilities they've already paid to use. This was easily our biggest frustration during the holiday. Changes Coming in 2027 We had every intention of returning to Astoria Playa in 2027 because of the fantastic staff, excellent food, adults-only atmosphere and relaxed feel. Unfortunately, after reading the information provided at check-in, we discovered that from the 2027 season onwards there will be a €20 per person daily charge to reserve a bed around the main pool. The hotel states that if you spend that amount on food and drinks from the pool bar, it will be deducted from the reservation fee. While some guests may appreciate this, it simply doesn't suit us. We don't drink alcohol during the day and usually buy bottled water from the supermarket, where it's around €1 compared to approximately €4 at the hotel. We also enjoy eating lunch at local restaurants rather than staying around the pool all day. This means that if we wanted to use the main pool area in future, we'd effectively need to spend at least €40 every day just to avoid losing the reservation fee. Considering we paid around £2,500 for one week's half-board stay, adding another €280 over the course of the holiday simply to access the main pool feels excessive. I also think this new system will make the quieter pool area extremely busy, as guests try to avoid paying the additional charge. Since there are significantly fewer beds there, I can imagine it becoming very difficult to find a space. It's a disappointing direction for the hotel. I understand businesses need to generate revenue, but this decision makes it feel like profit is being prioritised over guest experience. The staff work incredibly hard to create such a warm and personal atmosphere, and introducing additional charges like this takes away some of that personal touch. Overall Astoria Playa has so many positives. The staff are exceptional, the food is excellent, the rooms are comfortable and the adults-only atmosphere makes for a relaxing holiday. However, the jacuzzi room was poor value for money, there are some cleanliness and maintenance issues that need addressing, and the sunbed policy is, in my opinion, the hotel's biggest weakness. Had it not been for the changes coming in 2027, we would almost certainly have returned. Sadly, because of the new pool reservation charges, we've decided we won't be coming back, which is a real shame because with a few changes this hotel could easily have been somewhere we'd visit again and again.
