Lovely apartments with an amazing view! Lovely place to stay, we were self catering, the place was very clean.

Really beautiful place, superb view of the sea from our ground floor apartment. Food was lovely would highly recommend. Only downside is having to pay for the children to use the football court and the pool is a bit small. Good job the sea is on the doorstep!

We visited as a family of 3 for 8 nights in July. We opted for a sea view room (wow) and half board (not wow). The hotel location is excellent. If you can, pay the extra for sea view as you will not be disappointed with the beautiful bay. The highlight was sitting on our balcony with a glass of wine late at night. Beds were super comfy. The room we had in G block was modern and spacious. The cleaners were fantastic and friendly. Room was spotless every day. The AC wasn't great - I asked at reception about this twice they said they would send an engineer but it was never improved. Wouldn't get below about 24deg. The pool was great, we managed to get loungers with a brolly but needed to get around the pool about 8.30. We were out of the hotel most days so didn't mind doing this twice. Towels are removed after 20mins - which is only fair as it's a very busy hotel. Pool bar has great views and good snacks. Service was hit and miss. This there were training up new staff when we were there. A disappointment for us was the food. The evening meals were not up to standard for what we paid. Salad bar was nice but the hot food was mostly pasta bakes, curries etc. Not special and not what we have come to expect when paying above £4k for a week's holiday. Chicken thighs in Chinese curry sauce one night - just bone and absolutely no meat. Pasta for the kids with plain pasta sauce. Needs more choice for children. Breakfast was better, more choice than dinner. Fresh eggs being cooked were good. Fresh waffles one day. The breakfast/dinner room is drab and needs a facelift. The service was okay, polite but unfortunately the servers don't engage with conversation or look very happy. Shop on site is good 👍🏼. We went to the mini disco across the road as Esmeralda 2 nights. This was good and the shows after were great for kids. The bar there is drab also and has no good vibes. Very expensive. £26 for 2 rum and cokes. Cala Ferrera is great and our favourite part of Cala Dor. Very family friendly. Lots of nice restaurants and play parks. Little shops for gifts. Beaches are beautiful but SO busy in July so be prepared to get there early and have people sat right next to you. Overall we wouldn't return half board due to the disappointment with the food and and the feel of the dining area. However, the rooms, pool and location were excellent so we may consider self-catering.

The Cala Azul is a 3-star hotel on the eastern side of Cala d'Or, conveniently located close to several other Inturotel properties, beaches, shops and restaurants. Unlike its sister hotel opposite, Cala Azul has not been fully refurbished. Some buildings and rooms have been upgraded to a Select/Superior standard, including the room we stayed in. The exterior appears freshly painted and generally well maintained. Our accommodation was a spacious suite-style room with a separate living/kitchen area and bedroom. Facilities included a large fridge, two-ring hob and Nespresso-style coffee machine. Unfortunately, housekeeping standards on arrival were disappointing. The apartment had not been cleaned properly, with rubbish still left behind from previous occupants and dirt visible on the floor. This was not the best first impression of the hotel. Everything else in the room functioned well, although the fridge was exceptionally noisy. During the night it sometimes sounded like a washing machine on a spin cycle. The air conditioning was very effective, maintaining around 22°C indoors despite outside temperatures exceeding 35°C. We were staying as a group of three. The third bed was simply part of the sofa converted into a bed, with no additional mattress or topper. It was not particularly comfortable. Wi-Fi coverage was excellent throughout the hotel, with strong speeds everywhere. Mobile coverage was also very good, with a strong 5G signal available. Parking is on the surrounding streets only. While there are a reasonable number of spaces, they fill up quickly. We regularly struggled to find parking when returning later in the afternoon or evening. If the nearby streets are full, alternative free parking can be quite a walk away. The pool snack bar was average, especially considering the many better alternatives within walking distance. As a vegetarian, I ordered a falafel wrap on our first day but was mistakenly served a chicken wrap. After that experience, I chose to eat elsewhere. The pool complex is divided into three areas: upper, lower and sand areas. The upper pool is shallow, while the lower area contains both a children's pool and a larger, deeper pool. This is very much a family hotel, which will be either a positive or a negative depending on what you're looking for. During our stay, all pools were extremely busy throughout the day, filled with children and adults playing, jumping, diving and splashing. It was virtually impossible to swim uninterrupted without being bumped into or splashed. Although inflatables and balls are prohibited, enforcement appeared limited. A lifeguard was present, but I never saw any interaction with guests or intervention regarding pool activities, appearing to spend much of the time looking at their phone. There are clearly not enough sunbeds for all guests during peak season. By 08:30 each morning, around 90% of beds had already been reserved despite the hotel's stated policy against reserving them. Some areas also lack adequate shade, and the fixed parasols cannot be repositioned as they are permanently installed. I suspect this hotel functions much better outside peak season when occupancy levels are lower. During our stay, with the hotel appearing close to full capacity, it often felt cramped, noisy and overcrowded, particularly around the pools and sunbathing areas. Cleanliness was also below expectations for the price paid, with the apartment not having been properly cleaned before our arrival. In terms of value for money, we paid approximately €350 per night for a room-only stay for three people in August. When compared with other local options, including a nearby 5-star hotel charging around €515 per night with half board, free underground parking and better poolside facilities, Cala Azul felt like poor value and something of a false economy. That said, Cala d'Or itself remains an excellent destination, with beautiful beaches, plenty of restaurants and shops, and a great holiday atmosphere. Rating: 3/5 Pros: Excellent location, spacious apartments, effective air conditioning, strong Wi-Fi, good base for exploring Cala d'Or. Cons: Poor arrival cleanliness, noisy fridge, uncomfortable third bed, overcrowded pools, insufficient sunbeds, parking difficulties and disappointing value for money during peak season.
