SA Marina Review We have just returned from a brilliant week in Cala D’or, staying at the SA Marina. I hope you find this review helpful! We stayed as a family of 3 (son is 8) as part of a Jet2 package with a free child place during May half term. Based on the location of the hotel we opted for room only basis and I’m so glad we did, everything you need is on your doorstep! Room: We had a garden view on the 2nd floor, it was lovely and peaceful. The room had good air con and a small kitchen facility. It felt spacious and the balcony can comfortably seat 4 people. The hotel feels very clean, infact spotless! Water: There is a water filter located on the ground floor of accommodation - so no need to lug massive bottles of water back and forth! Take a large bottle that keeps it chilled! Pools: There are 2 pools, one has a pool bar. We found that there were plenty of sun beds however you do need to secure these with towels between 8-9am. Towels are available from hotel reception daily but we took our own. There is a lifeguard on duty - only pool noodles & rings are allowed, no lilos or ball games in the water. Activities: There is a brilliant football pitch just behind the pool for kids to play on and the hotel will lend you a football for the day so no need to buy one. The kids club is more for younger ages, our 8 year old was not bothered for this apart from water balloons one day. Entertainment: The pool bar does have some evening entertainment but it is very quiet and lacks atmosphere on an evening. Perfect for a few chilled drinks later on but people don’t tend to go down to the pool bar for pre dinner drinks, presumably because there is so much going on in town. Our favourite family bars were Evie’s, The Corner Sports Bar & Tropical Garden. There is also mini golf close to the hotel. Pool bar: Serves really good food all day, we had lunch there most days. Sandwiches, wraps, pizza, kids menu. Cost of a glass of sangria €5 & a beer €5, glass of wine €6. Staff are really friendly. Also serves coffee, ice cream etc. You can sit on the terrace with a drink or get a take away paper cup to sit round the pool with it. I noticed that a lot of residents brought their own cans of beer / soft drinks around the pool and there didn’t seem to be an issue with that. Supermarkets: Large Mercado 10 minute walk, Spar mini market 2 minute walk - note that Mercado prices significantly cheaper!! Restaurants / Bars: Cala D’or is full of amazing restaurants and bars, there is the possibility to eat somewhere different every night for at least a month! It’s a 3 minute walk to the main square or about 7 minutes to the marina. Our favourites were Da Marcello (Italian), La Sapoorito, La Vermaturia (Tapas), Rustic (Grill). Great breakfast spots include Brezel Bros, Noir, Clement, all within minutes walk. Beach: Cala Petita is a beautiful small cove with a lovely beach bar located at the bottom of the town, around 10-15 mins walk. We would love to return in the future and found this hotel perfect for our family. Thank you so much for a wonderful week 😀

We’ve had a wonderful holiday at this hotel. Knowing we wanted to stay in Cala D’or (we booked via Jet2 Holidays), we chose this property because of the location, reviews and hotel rating — and overall it absolutely delivered. The rooms are really well thought out. We had a large king-size room (for clarity, two singles pushed together), plus two single sofa beds in the living area for the kids. The living room TV had a surprisingly good selection of UK channels, which was a nice touch. There was balcony access from both the bedroom and living space, and plenty of storage so you could properly unpack. We had a middle-floor room at the end of the corridor (as requested). As always, other guests aren’t always the quietest, but that’s not the hotel’s fault. If noise bothers you, I’d recommend requesting a top-floor room. We had one noisy evening from the room above, but reception dealt with it very quickly after I called — within minutes things had mostly settled down. The balcony was excellent, with a comfy chair, three additional chairs and a decent drying rail (important as towels aren’t allowed to hang over balconies). The kitchen area was quite small — absolutely fine for making sandwiches or a brew, but probably not for cooking anything major. Our advice would be to go B&B like we did and enjoy the breakfast instead. Breakfast was fantastic. It runs from 8am–10:30am and gets busiest around 9am. There was loads of choice: fresh fruit, pastries, hot food that changed daily alongside the usual staples, plus a live cooking station rotating between omelettes, scrambled eggs and crepes. There was also a great selection of breads, cheeses, cold meats and milk alternatives (oat, soya, lactose-free etc.). A lovely surprise was that cava was available too. Coffee was decent, with several machines available, and the English Breakfast Tea was very good too — although the teapots do tend to drip, so grab extra serviettes! A couple of small breakfast improvements I’d suggest: * a clearing station for guests who want to tidy their own table * takeaway cups for coffee by the pool or back to the room * small milk jugs for tea or milk alternatives There are two pool areas and most of the time it was easy enough to get a sunbed. The hotel asks guests not to reserve beds, and unlike many places, they actually enforce it. Lifeguards place signs on unattended beds after 20 minutes and belongings can then be removed. Most people respected this, although a few clearly tried their luck leaving beds “reserved” for hours. Safe to say, some eventually came back to find their stuff moved! We even felt guilty ourselves for being about 10 minutes over the limit one lunchtime after escaping the May half-term heat for a bit… 🤦🏼‍♂️😂 Pool towels are provided, although we mostly used our own beach towels during the week. The only slight negative for us was the pool cleanliness around the sunbeds and side tables. Compared to other overseas hotels we’ve stayed in, the surrounding areas didn’t seem to get pressure washed regularly, which occasionally left sticky patches and drink marks around. Overall though, this was a fantastic holiday and a really lovely hotel. Great location, excellent breakfast, good facilities and a perfect base for exploring Cala D’or and the surrounding area.

Our first time in Mallorca and we chose this hotel after reading the amazing reviews on the Tui website. On arrival we were greeted with a friendly welcome and our room was ready. We had a room on the 1st floor which was lovely and big. The fact that the safety deposit box in our room was free was a big bonus and we loved that. The hotel is spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable. There were a couple nights that we were woken during the night by screaming children and loud guests but this isn't the hotels fault. We quickly unpacked and came down for some pool time chilling after a long morning travelling, however unfortunately at 1pm there we no sunbeds available in either pool which we were very disappointed with so we had nowhere to sit. Other guests advised us to secure a sunbed early to avoid this again. We are not usually the type of people to do this but the next morning we went to the pool area at 9am after breakfast and again the sunbeds all had towels on and we managed to get the last 2. So against our own rules we decided to join the crowd and put our towels on at 8am before breakfast to secure a place for the rest of the holiday. We were there 27th May for 1 week and didn't witness any of the lifeguards enforcing the rules and removing any towels. They also didn't stop the kids running and the pools were full of inflatables making it difficult to have a swim. I appreciate it was half term and it was busy with families and children, however maybe the hotel should consider having one of the pools adults only. It did say on the Tui website that one of the pools was a quiet adult pool but this was NOT the case and misleading. We are all there to enjoy ourselves but not being able to get a sunbed and both pools being packed with kids and inflatables was a slight disappointment. The breakfast was delicious and plenty of choice. The staff were very attentive too. Cala D'Or itself was very pretty. Overall we had a lovely holiday and the hotel was amazing. Our only advice would be to stop the sunbeds being held by towels. This unfortunately would prevent us going back. Show less
