“Great boutique hotel- highly recommend”

The olive hotel was a great base for our stay. Lovely breakfast and staff and the rooms were clean and well looked after. We really loved the roof terrace that came with our room. Would highly recommend. We stayed with our twin daughters who enjoyed the pool and the short walk to the beach!

We spent 4 nights here recently and it was very nice. Well located, easy to park, cool vibe, simple but tasty breakfast, quality room furnishings and details, nice pool, towels for pool/beach, just an overall very nice experience. However, dont ask for room 12 as the AC was not working (!), it had a provisional very noisy, bulky, ineffective standalone unit sitting in the lounge which we were told was the best they could do. A shame as this was a real eye sore, as well as basically useless!

The Olive is essentially and aparthotel. We’re a family of 4 and the apartment was just comfortable enough to accommodate us with a good terrace although looking towards the car park/road. While I’ve seen some reviews that found this unacceptable, I must say we used the terrace quite a lot, without issue. The decor is nice if minimalistic, and the staff was always friendly enough even if lacking professionalism sometimes. The location is quite good: Cala Llonga is excellent for families with a good large beach, never overcrowded even though it was August, and with plenty of excellent restaurants at very fair prices. The hotel is 200m from the beach with a comfortable walk. However there were some shortcomings: the pool area is quite small. Only about 10 sun beds are clearly insufficient. More so when, incredibly, some guest reserve bed with personal items and don’t show up for 3 hours. The pool is quite small (which I was expecting as per the hotel photos) and overcrowded with kids jumping around with floating devices. Finally, although not the hotel’s fault, it was ridden with wasps coming probably from a nearby untreated land plot. These issues rendered the pool area essentially unusable. Lastly, the breakfast and food offered. It was quite a disappointment. We appreciate hearty hotel breakfasts that take us deep into the afternoon, to enjoy the beach before a late lunch. However, the provided breakfast had you choose a la carte between coffee, some juice, granola yoghurt and some sandwiches or croissant. It always felt kind of insufficient. While you could ask for extra items, the lack of an eggs menu, for example, left us wanting for more. All in all, we felt that it could have been much better, and slightly disappointed by our stay. But some of the really negative reviews you can read here are not really honest.

We just got back from a week stay at the Olive. It’s a lovely hotel in a great location. The staff are friendly & attentive, rooms are exceptionally clean. The beach is a short walk down the road, where your also find lots of restaurants and a well stocked super market. There is a boat that goes from the pier which we took one day to Santa Eulàlia, highly recommend as it’s a beautiful town with loads of restaurants. The only ‘cons’ I would say was the pool was very cold but that’s probably time of the year rather than the hotels issue & we were allowed to use the indoor pool with our toddler which was great! We had a chezza terrace room which didn’t have much hanging space for clothes at all, my husband ended up putting his clothes in a kitchen cupboard lol but we made do & used the storage under the bed for the suitcases! And the room didn’t have a kettle which if you were traveling with a baby and needed boiling water may be a problem although we didn’t ask for one so may be something the hotel could supply. We made do with using the hot water feature on the coffee machine to make our cup of tea! All in all a lovely stay & well located hotel. Thanks!
