This was my 8th visit to Es Moli and on arrival it was clear things had changed. As Julia B has said, the previously warm welcome at Reception had disappeared. In fact Reception had disappeared! We walked in through the main entrance of the hotel to find an entirely deserted and sad looking Reception area with not a person in sight. I had to find a member of staff myself - who looked more like a workman than a receptionist - who told us Reception had been relocated to the 3rd floor. An entirely ludicrous and nonsensical move it must be said. It was only because we know the hotel well that we managed to find it. There was an absence of directions, and we had to get the lift and then walk through the maze of the restaurant and bar area to find it. I won't bang on about the other negative changes the new owners have made because other people have already noted them. Having said that very surprising to find no toiletries in the bathroom, apart from cheap shower gel, when there has always been an abundance of them. And who suddenly imposes major charges for the mini bus trip to the hotel's private beach which has always been free and has been advertised as being free this season??? I'm obviously not privy to the new owners intentions for the hotel - but I'm sure the intention is to turn it into the Residencia #2, with the associated major price hikes. A haven for social media influencers who will flock to the next big thing and dump Es Moli as quickly as it takes to pose for a pouty mouthed selfie. This would mean many of the loyal, regular visitors - many of whom return at least once every year - will be priced out of staying at Es Moli. I have stayed at the Residencia on several occasions and I would choose Es Moli every time. It's a different type of hotel. Warmer, more friendly, more relaxed and less pretentious. The pool area and the breakfast offering alone are unbeatable. And call me old fashioned but I have always loved the evening entertainment by the pool. I hope the new owners respect the history of the hotel and its enduring appeal to visitors. But more than anything I hope they respect the long and loyal service of the wonderful team of staff, who we have the pleasure of seeing year after year, and who treat us as part of the Es Moli family.

When you arrived at this hotel in the past you got a lovely warm welcome from the staff at the reception desk. When you arrive now reception is empty and there is a sign on the counter saying reception is now on the 3rd floor. You find your way there with your bags (no signs when you get out of the lift so follow your nose). Walk through the lovely terrace and find it now in the middle of the lovely lounge. Why?? Very odd. One of the highlights was dinner in the lovely restaurant. We were shocked to be told that it is now closed. (The lovely sister restaurant down the hill is closed too. ) It was a lovely dining room opening onto a lovely terrace - now just empty. The only dinner now is on the terrace where you have breakfast. It’s lovely there, but the menu is very limited and it does not change. Because we had no advance notice we had not had the opportunity to book restaurants in Deia. There are some good ones. We only managed to get into Balm. If you can, I highly recommend it. We were very well looked after by Jamie when we ate on the terrace. Other changes we noticed were no fresh flower arrangements around the place. In the room no welcome drink, no kettle and tray of teas etc, no slippers, no lovely soaps in the bathroom, free water was only on the first day. The shuttle bus to the gorgeous cove was free. That’s changed . I would have to pay €70 per day if I wanted to go back. All of the staff were superb - apart from just one. Woman working at the pool bar was rude, Entirely different from all the other charming staff. The pool area and gardens remain glorious. I’m saddened by the changes and don’t think I’ll be back.

If you’re a longtime guest of this hotel and appreciated its unique atmosphere, you’ll likely be disappointed now. The new management has implemented some negative changes: The magical dinners of the past in the spacious terrace dining room are no longer available. They’re now served on the small breakfast terrace with insufficient—though very friendly—staff. The first dinner took two hours; the second, two and a half. There’s a half-hour wait between courses. We decided not to continue dining there. The à la carte selection is very limited, and they no longer offer an alternative set menu as they used to. If you ask to change the side dish for any meal, the waiter says they now have orders not to accommodate such requests. The restocking of food at breakfast is inadequate. Even though we paid for an expensive room, there were no amenities in the bathroom. The system for using the lounge chairs around the pool is unacceptable. Guests place their towels and some personal belongings on them and keep them occupied all day, even if they go on an excursion or take a nap. There’s always a good number of them that are unoccupied but still “taken.” The hotel should organize a rotation system so that all guests have a chance to enjoy the best-located ones. There’s no longer any entertainment, dancing, or shows on the bar terrace after dinner. Obviously, the hotel’s location and surroundings remain very appealing.
