Barcelo Hamilton Menorca - Adults Only

My wife and I arrived for a weeks stay in Menorca. The hotel has a wonderful location about 30m from the edge of the bay. You can watch numerous boat and yachts, sail serenely by for hours. We stayed in a junior suite, the room was spacious but could do with more storage. Another set of drawers would of be more use, than the chaise lounge. The balcony was tiny (really small) there was no space to manoeuvre at all. The shower was nice and spacious, with good water pressure, however it was a bit dark, as there was no direct lighting in the shower unit itself. There is an in room safe (free to use) and fridge. The food and breakfast and dinner was plentiful and well seasoned. The bread selection was especially delicious, although it frequently ran out. The dinner selection was not as wide, as other Barcelo properties we have stayed in but it was still sufficient. My wife who is a vegetarian, didn't have as much choice but the chef was more than willing, to prepared her meal requests in advance. Luckily for my waistline, the desserts were quite boring (cheesecakes, ice cream etc.) The gym was a bit of a let down for us. Just 2 treadmills (one which needs retiring) and 2 bikes (which also need retiring) for cardio. No ellipticals or rowers?? The dumbbells only go to 10 kg. There is no squat rack/machine or smith machine. There is a weight sled but no room to push it. Also while the glass walls and metal may look good for photographs, it creates a greenhouse effect. The air conditioning was inadequate, thus is was quite stifling to workout at times. The evening entertainment didn't start till 21:30, which in our opinion as early risers, is too late. But this seems to be the same in all Barcelo hotels. The hotel could do with a few more activities, board games, table tennis etc The staff throughout our stay were excellent. Overall we had a relaxing and enjoyable stay and so recommend this hotel.

“Disappointing stay, not value for money”

We have just returned from a long weekend to the Hamilton, we travelled with Jet2 who I cannot fault at all but the hotel shows as a Luxe hotel with them and I think it is far from that. We had a side sea view room which I must point out to people that most do not have a balcony or any outside space, they did not have one with a balcony we could change to so I paid extra for a front sea view. when we got to the room the air con was not working, somebody came up to look at it but it was never very good for the whole stay. The room and many areas in the hotel were very tired looking. the blue sky bar was lovely and the staff in their were excellent but only 2 of the 6 hot tubs actually produced any bubbles , which considering the price of the hotel I don't think is acceptable also the ladies toilet did not lock. We were only there on a bed and breakfast basis as we love the Calas Fonts harbour area for food and drinks but the breakfast was very average in the hotel. I did not let any of this spoil my enjoyment of such a lovely place to visit but the hotel needs to have a look around and if they wish to charge the prices they need to be high end quality.

disappointed overall, would not rate as 4 star. cracked tiles throughout, ripped bedding, frayed curtains, tiny balcony with cracks in wall and flaking paint, lukewarm food in buffet, poor room layout, poor entertainment with no atmosphere at all. no local shops in the area, plus point, staff were pleasant, and room serviced daily.

“A member of staff made the holiday”

We had requested a accessible room on our booking only to arrive to find that they had allocated a standard room which apparently didn’t have a accessible room, on inspection of the room it didn’t meet health and safety requirements and there was no water in the room. I went down to reception and requested to see the guest relations manager, after a brief wait i met with her and eventually they gave me an accessible room on the second floor room230 which did meet safety requirements although the view out of the window was a wall about 2 metres away .The room however did meet with Barcelo standard clean and comfortable bed. Breakfast was buffet style the dining room which felt small compared to other Barcelo hotels but the breakfast was very good. We were on bed and breakfast and was going to dine in the evening at some point but decided not to after seeing the presentation one evening as it lacked choice of dishes. The pool area is in the centre of the building and the pool is small due to it being in a limited space we found it was better to sunbathe on the roof level. We are part of the Barcelona rewards scheme and it appeared at first that the hotel was unaware of our status. Our saviour was Niaomi on reception who was exceptional and is a credit to the hotel and should be made employee of the month if such a scheme operates within this hotel. Despite the mishaps we had an enjoyable holiday but our experiences reflect my overall raring marked down on room mistake and lack of knowledge of rewards status
