This was our second visit to the hotel as we first visited around the same time last year. If you check back you will see my initial review. The hotel sits on the estuary into Mahon and across from Cala Longa, where you get a great view of the ferry's, cruise liners and expensive yachts moving in and out. The entrance to the hotel is understated and enclosed within local housing, some of which could do with a coat of paint or two, but dont let this put you off. Once you step through the doors you enter a different world, with a laid back casual vibe and chilled atmosphere. The hotel is small and the reception is immediately in front of you as you enter, with the lounge area connected to the bar / restaurant on one side, and the pool and wellness area on the other. From the moment you walk through the doors to when you check out all of the staff are superb and nothing is too much trouble for them to make your stay the best possible. The rooms are clean, tidy and have all the necessary toiletries and accessories you will need, shampoos, shower gels, body lotions, hairdryer, coffee, tea making, and so on. What I like is the free water top ups where they leave a bottle in your room and you can refill it when you need at the water station on the 2nd floor. So, please take your own water bottles also as you can just top this up also. No need to keep buying bottles of water. There is a full wellness suite and gym if you want to use it by the main pool. There are plentiful sunbeds around the pool and on the sun deck below, and there is never a fight to get one. The weekend we were there there was a Fiesta in Es Castell and the hotel, pool etc, was a bit more crowded than usual as it seems many Spanish came to the event and stayed over. Apart from that you could take your pick each day. The restaurant food was very nice with plenty of choice, live cooking station for fish and meats or eggs, pancakes at breakfast, salads galore, hot selection of veg, and at breakfast about 10 different types of bread for your toast, along with multiple type of pastries. The desserts are also something else, so if you have a sweet tooth prepare yourself. The hotel has some entertainment three times a week, or its a short 10 minute walk round the Cala Font harbor with its bars and restaurants. We stayed HB so used Cala Font for the bars (Lemon bar and its vast array of cocktails, spirits and beers is recommended). The restaurants do get busy, a couple of people we spoke to advised us to book if you wanted to eat at the restaurants, particularly on busy weekend periods. The question for us was comparing the price for HB at the hotel against BB plus eating out each night. No contest - HB at the hotel was much better value / cheaper, with a much wider choice of food. You can then wander round to Cala Font and enjoy the drinks. Only one issue, and that we the weather was hot and the restaurant has an inside and outside section and the doors are left open for people to move in and out, and the inside got a bit hot - so they need to increased the aircon level. Overall a very pleasant stay once again. The hotel vibe (Poc-a-Poc) and staff really make it a calming, relaxing holiday. Based on this we aim to try more of the Artiem hotels in future, and hopefully they will be as good as this.

This is my third visit to this hotel. I think it’s a fantastic hotel with wonderful staff who make you feel very welcome as a returning guest.

Visited for 5 days. We had a first floor room with the new terraces. They look the part with two day beds and chairs but it was too hot for us to sit out there for too long. It was a real sun trap. Visited for 5 days. We had a first floor room with the new terraces. They look the part with two day beds and chairs but it was too hot for us to sit out there for too long. It was a real sun trap. Also privacy limited as no actual barrier / wall between each one. The rest of the hotel was nice and fresh. Staff were lovely, friendly and efficient. Views from the restaurant and pool area were fantastic, especially the small infinity pool, and made for a great experience daily. Food was good. Breakfast catered ok for my gluten free daughter with toast, muffins, cereal brought to the table. The only thing that let it down was the cleanliness of the pool area. It didn’t seem to have a proper clean and the same bits of litter were still around 3-4 days later. The pool itself could do with a clean as there was a build up of black in some areas. But we still enjoyed the area and the water was nice and refreshing. Location wise it’s a bit barren around with no shops that close and the walk to the harbour of Es Castell through the streets wasn’t that pleasant. You can go round the little harbour to get to the main Es Castell harbour where you find the restaurants and bars and a couple of boutique shops. Once you are there it’s a good idea to book ahead at least one day at the restaurants as they get busy and turn you away if not booked, particularly at peak evening times. If you are looking for a chilled holiday this will do you.
