We stayed at Hotel Ankaa for 5 days and it was amazing. The staff were amazing and so attentive, the entertainment in the evenings was wonderful and we had a lot of laughs. Check in and check out was super easy and we were offered a shower room as our flight was much later, they held our luggage for us too while we enjoyed the pool area all day. Food and drinks were amazing, especially the lunchtime food you can order from the pool bar. Drinks are served to your sun bed and the happy hour was very good with lots of cocktails to choose from. Room was clean and comfortable with lots of wardrobe space and spacious bathroom. Another special mention to the staff who made our stay extra special and we will definitely be returning.

Overall really enjoyed the holiday here. Room was nice and aircon was great, shower really good. No kettle provided and when we got given one it blew all the fuses so could not use. Breakfast was lovely and the bbq night we had was also lovely. Great location short walk from the harbour where lots of restaurants. Never had to fight for a sunbed always guaranteed one no matter the time of day. However lots of broken umbrellas which isn’t great and also sunbeds round the pool not comfy could really do with having cushions. Having to pay €5 for a shower when we checked out is awful especially when it wouldn’t even attach to the wall so wouldn’t wash my hair! Never had to pay before. Cocktails weren’t very nice and felt like they had no alcohol. Staff all lovely. All in all good stay but think abit overpriced for the standard of the hotel

Our experience at Hotel Ankaa was incredibly disappointing, and unfortunately the poor customer service overshadowed what could have been a lovely holiday. I’ll start with the positives. The housekeeping staff were excellent. Our room was always spotless, comfortable, and kept lovely and cool. We also appreciated having a kettle and a complimentary minibar, which were nice touches. One thing I also want to mention is that every male member of staff we interacted with was friendly, polite and attentive. Unfortunately, our experience with the female restaurant and reception staff was the complete opposite. They often came across as unfriendly, dismissive and uninterested in helping, and the difference in attitude was noticeable throughout our stay. From the beginning of our stay, the service in the restaurant was consistently poor. Staff regularly ignored us, we were left waiting a long time for plates to be cleared, and we often had to fetch our own cutlery because our table simply hadn’t been laid for breakfast or dinner. It became a regular occurrence rather than a one-off mistake. One incident summed up the attitude we experienced. We ordered two sandwiches and an extra portion of chips because the menu didn’t mention that the sandwiches already came with chips. When the waitress brought the food over, we politely asked why she hadn’t mentioned this, as we’d unnecessarily spent extra money. Instead of apologising sincerely, she simply smirked and said, “Oh sorry I didn’t tell you,” before walking away. Even simple requests seemed impossible. At breakfast there was a member of staff walking around asking guests if they needed anything. We asked for some extra pillows, especially as the room even had a pillow menu advertising different options. She looked completely confused, as though she had no idea what we were talking about. Nothing ever arrived. We asked again the following day and eventually received extra pillows, but we weren’t offered any choice from the pillow menu that the hotel itself advertises. Throughout the holiday we couldn’t shake the feeling that we were treated differently because we were English. I can’t say for certain that this was the reason, but it was how we genuinely felt based on the way we were treated compared with some other guests. The final straw came on our last day. After checking out, we spent the day by the pool before our flight and paid €5 to use the hotel’s shower facilities. The shower room was dirty and poorly maintained, and to make matters worse, the overhead shower head holder was broken. While I was showering, it came loose and fell, hitting me hard on the head. This wasn’t just inconvenient—it was a genuine safety hazard. When I reported this to reception, I expected at the very least an apology. Instead, the receptionist barely acknowledged me. She avoided eye contact, continued typing on her computer throughout the conversation, and showed absolutely no concern that a guest had just been injured by faulty equipment. I explained that the shower room was dirty, the shower was broken, and that the facilities were nowhere near worth the €5 charge—especially considering two people only had 30 minutes to use them. I asked for a refund. I was then told that a “technician” had checked the shower and claimed it was simply because it was an “old type of shower.” That explanation was frankly ridiculous. Old doesn’t make a shower head fitting fall off and hit someone on the head. It was broken, plain and simple. I asked to speak to a manager but was told no manager was available, and they still refused to refund the €5. By that point it wasn’t even about the money—it was about the complete lack of accountability, empathy and customer care after an avoidable incident. The most frustrating part is that the hotel itself has potential. The rooms were clean and comfortable thanks to the hardworking housekeeping staff, but the attitude and service from the restaurant and reception teams let the hotel down at every opportunity. We left feeling ignored, undervalued and frustrated. Based on our experience, I would not recommend staying here if you expect attentive customer service or staff who take responsibility when something goes wrong.

Pros Ana B entertainment Sunday night was fantastic Staff very helpful and friendly The welcome drink was nice on arrival Housekeeping did a good job Breakfast buffet was very good and we did get drinks for breakfast unlike dinner A short walk to the beach and great location to visit the caves drach Music was pleasant at breakfast and dinner time Outdoor eating area nice and staff always attentive and polite Cons Even with half board tap water was not included in our evening meal so you had to pay for a drink and water was not included it was €3.20 a small bottle which adds up Suitcase could be stored in a room when checking out but this was not secure and not monitored I was nervous leaving my stuff here Little things like sun loungers and tables not cleaned for the next day we often had dirty marks on tables Bathroom was so so small!!!! Smell in bedroom and hotel. Possibly a drainage issue as they used bleach like it was going out of fashion, so strong and unpleasant the smell! The food buffet variety for dinner was bad we had lasagne 4 days in a row!! Many parasols were broken so no shade I nearly slipped twice on the floor around the pool there was an area that held the water and so there was a puddle most of the day The water of the pool was warm as the day went on so didn’t cool you down We would not stay here again although appreciated the staff.
