“Top hotel”

Amazing hotel one of the best in Europe and I like a good hotel ! Food fabulous ! Immaculate rooms and grounds ! Lovely location ! Staff all lovely a shout out to the reception team and Santi along with Diego in the restaurant and Maria Jose ! Go and experience it as no complaints from us !

We have visited the Illa D’or Hotel many times over the last 27 years- travelling both as a couple and with different family members. We have never had less than a lovely holiday at this hotel. The hotel is 4* superior and continues to evolve subtly and improve every time we visit. The staff , from the chambermaids to the waiters and waitresses and the reception staff, are universally pleasant and efficient. The bedroom was large and airy with great, and welcome, air conditioning.The landings and public areas were quiet and well maintained and we had a lovely view over the pool and the bay. The restaurant is exceptionally well laid out with lots of alcoves for privacy as well as ceiling to floor windows .We never had a problem getting a table and invariably breakfasted on the narrow shady terrace immediately in front of the dining room.The buffet breakfast provides a wealth of choice and every need is catered for. This year we had the pleasure of spending part of our holiday with younger generations of our family who were in the adjacent Illa D’Or Club apartments and we also used their beautifully landscaped pool as well as the hotel’s own pool, both of which are well maintained and kept clean and tidy.

Having wandered down to the Illa D'Or for lunch in the past, I have always wanted to stay here so came with my husband and two adult children for a week in early July. It lived up to expectations! A very beautiful hotel with superb food and excellent service. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the morning buffet was fantastic, fresh, lots of variety and beautifully presented. We ate in La Terrassa one evening and it was exquisite. I think the most impressive thing about the hotel is the staff. So very helpful and friendly and you feel that nothing is too much trouble. We had a slight issue on arrival which I think is worth mentioning. I had booked directly with the hotel and had booked a sea view with balcony for myself and my husband and a side sea view with balcony for my children. The room we were given ( which was the most expensive of the two ) was on the ground floor overlooking the small adult pool. Although technically you could see the sea, beyond the pool and through the trees, it was a dark room which felt very overlooked and not at all what you would expect from the website. I feel that these rooms should be highlighted online and described as having a different view and charged accordingly. I raised it immediately at reception and they were very understanding. As the hotel was full they couldn't move us until the next day but then they did transfer us to a room on the upper floor at the front of the hotel which was smaller but with a stunning view. Had they not been able to do so, I would have requested a refund or some kind of compensation as I feel the sea view advertising is a little misleading. The other little bug bear, which I know was felt by other guests, is the age old problem of people saving sun loungers. There are signs up requesting that people do not do this but every day there are people nipping down at the crack of dawn and putting towels on beds which are then not occupied until later in the day! Especially by the sea and the adult pool. There must be a way to discourage this. There was also an issue on our last day of an unexpected power cut ( following a scheduled one earlier in the week) which meant we had very little water and no air conditioning for several hours and overnight, obviously not ideal in 35 deg heat! Again, staff were brilliant and very apologetic but some offer of compensation, I feel, would have been a welcome gesture in a hotel of this standard. Overall, though, it did not detract from the quality of the Illa D'Or which is excellent and well worth a visit.!
