My son is autistic and struggles with too much going on around the pool and evening entertainment so we wanted a hotel with a quiet vibe but near or with access to fun activities. The Vista Badia seemed to fit the bill, having the access to the sports activities including the driving range and crazy golf at the other Protur hotels within the complex was exactly what we were after. The hotel is located within a complex 4 or 5 other Protur hotels and the front door looks onto another hotel and a car park, however the hotel curves around a central pool area and looks out towards the sea which is around a 5-10 minute stroll away. We were lucky enough to have an apartment which looked out over this and being on the 3rd floor, we had a lovely view of the sea. The room also looked over the pool area and on an evening we could even watch the entertainment from our balcony which was fantastic for my son. The rooms were very large, the lounge had a small kitchenette, table and chairs 2 sofas (one which was turned into a bed for my son) and access to the very large balcony. The bedroom was 2 large singles put together as is common in Spain and the mattresses were firm which I found comfortable but my husband struggled a little. There was also a lot of additional bedding in the wardrobe for colder months. The bathroom had a very large walk in shower and plenty of additional space. There was also an additional wardrobe between the bathroom and bedroom. They were very clean and brightly furnished. The pool area was much larger than expected. The water was quite warm when we were there, I would have preferred it a couple of degrees lower as it would have been more refreshing. The indoor pool was much cooler and great for a quick cool down. The pool bar is open from 10 but has a water fountain that can be used at any time. There was rarely a queue at the bar and you could get a good range of ice-cream and lollies at all times. There is also a snack bar here however we rarely used it, choosing the main restaurant for lunch. The food was the stand out here. Whilst the food selection is small everything was amazingly fresh and tasty, none of those mystery casseroles that a lot of AI hotels rely on. Instead there were fresh pizzas, a grill putting out a selection with usually with a choice of chicken, beef, burger or sausage and vegetable. Quite often there would be a large roast, a paella as well as a selection of freshly made themed dishes. There is then a small section for the heated tray type food like chips, nuggets, roasted meats and usually a fish dish. This was followed by a large salad selection and a dessert section. You are also able to pour your own drinks with wines and beer on tap as well as soft drinks and water. However, the restaurant is small and could get quite busy at certain times, particularly at breakfast. Maybe the layout of the tables could have done with a little change to allow a better flow around the food counters? The entertainment team were a little hit and miss, they would do a party dance at the pool twice a day but it was done with very little enthusiasm by most of the team and they would just turn up and do it without trying to drum up a little support which was a bit strange. We did enjoy the daily aqua gym and the water polo was also well attended. The activities that could be done through the complex were great. The crazy golf was a particular favourite and my son and husband enjoyed the driving range however this is a paid activity. The shared paradis park looked great too but aimed at children a little younger than mine. This was our first visit to a Protur hotel but will not be our last. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the entire complex is spotlessly clean. As we weren't really there for lively entertainment we were more than happy to sit in the quieter lounge of an evening and as the world cup was on there was something to keep us entertained. The things that were important to us like the food, cleanliness and atmosphere all shone!

“Lovely Hotel”

We absolutely loved this hotel, we loved the food and our room was spotless, it was in walking distance of a lot and with 2 children we loved it but the entertainment was awful. That's the only thing that would put us off for next year

I have to agree with the reviewer below that the kids club here is very poor. Our daughter is 8 and really enjoys kids clubs but after going to one she never wanted to go back and I don't blame her. It's basically sitting in a bare room doing some colouring with an unenthusiastic member of the animation team. Thankfully there are lots of kids in the pool so she was able to make friends there. There are plenty of good things about the hotel though including the pool, the food, the cleanliness and some friendly staff. The animation team do let it down though being generally a bit unenthusiastic and German-leaning as others mentioned, so not amazing for the English speaking kids. Evening entertainment was average so don't expect to be blown away but it was passable. La reserva water park is a decent change of scenery. It just for under 12s really though and it's small. The all inclusive food there is good and it's nice to have a swim up bar. I really do not recommend the Italian restaurant that is bookable at reception - la fontana. Everyone's food was way too salty and just not very nice. Very slow unattentive service too. We regretted not sticking with the hotel buffer that night. We did have a nice holiday but probably wouldn't go back.

The hotel itself is lovely. Modern and clean. Our only negative was the kids club. We selected this hotel as it had a kids club and we were hoping to put them in once or twice to allow us a short break and for them to have fun. Unfortunately it was very disappointing. Staff were unfriendly, the room was tiny and really only fit for preschool children. They only kept the kids for 30mins before phoning us to get them as they wanted to come back. I’m not surprised as they barely interacted with them. They also asked if they could let a 5 year old leave on their own when finished which I thought was very inappropriate!! They also geared their evening entertainment towards the German children leaving English speaking children uncertain/a bit left out. We didn’t use it after this which was a real shame as in previous years they have really enjoyed it.
