Another amazing stay at the Royal Son Bou. We stayed in May half-term as 2 adults and one child aged almost 12. This was our fourth stay at the Royal Son Bou and was every bit as wonderful as our previous visits - we have booked to return next year again. The hotel really is perfection - everything is to such high standards. The rooms are clean and the communal areas of the hotel are immaculate. The range and standard of food is amazing; I really don't know how they cater for such large numbers to such a high standard. Everything is set up exactly as you need it for families and children, you can truly relax. There's a stunning beach a few minutes' walk away. This year we went to the beach each night after dinner to watch the sunset - truly stunning. The thing that really makes this hotel is the wonderful staff, many who remember us now. Dow and Lorena are wonderful at the bar, lovely Magda who came up from the offices to chat with us, Toñi and Fernando in the restaurants, Aitor in the shop with his salsa music, Melanie from the animation team, lovely Maria Dolores in Los Olivos with her big hugs for our daughter, and Jose in Los Olivos who remembered our daughter's name each time he saw us. If you are researching this hotel and wondering whether to book - do it! You won't be disappointed. We have met many families there who have returned year on year as you really can't find better. I'm not sure how we will be able to holiday anywhere else! Thank you Royal Son Bou - see you again next year!

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and family-friendly getaway. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to make our stay special. The restaurants were outstanding, offering a great variety of delicious food to suit all tastes. Every meal felt like a treat, with high-quality ingredients and excellent service throughout. What really stood out was how perfect the hotel is for children. There were plenty of activities to keep them entertained, and the environment felt safe, fun, and thoughtfully designed with families in mind. It made the whole experience stress-free and enjoyable for everyone. Overall, a wonderful hotel with exceptional service, fantastic dining, and a great atmosphere for families. We would definitely love to return!

We recently stayed at Royal Son Bou Family Club and overall had a very enjoyable family holiday. The biggest downside was the accommodation. Our apartment felt quite dated and had a noticeable damp smell throughout our stay. Unfortunately, this also seemed to affect our clothes, which often felt damp. Another issue was the noise from neighbouring apartments – whenever guests upstairs flushed their toilet, the sound travelled loudly through the air conditioning vent, which was particularly noticeable during the night. The WiFi was also disappointing. It was completely unavailable for several days and remained very temperamental for the rest of our stay. In today’s world, reliable internet is something most families expect, so this was frustrating. We also experienced an issue with our room key cards, which stopped working the night before check-out. While this was eventually resolved, it was an inconvenience at the end of what had otherwise been a pleasant stay. One thing prospective guests should be aware of is that this is a completely non-smoking resort. Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere on site. While I can understand the reasoning, this was not something many guests appeared to be aware of when booking, and it caused frustration for a number of smokers during our stay. On the positive side, the pony rides were excellent. Although they are fairly short, we felt this was actually the right length given the bumpy terrain. Any longer and it probably wouldn’t have been enjoyable for younger children. The mini farm is exactly that – mini. There are a few goats and some chickens, which was enough for a quick visit but shouldn’t be considered a major attraction. Kikoland is a fantastic space for children to play and explore. We chose not to leave our children (aged 2 and 4) in the care of staff, as we didn’t feel comfortable doing so at their age, but we still made great use of the facilities together as a family. The heated children’s pool was a nice feature, although it could get very busy. We often used the shallow paddling area of the main pool instead. While the water there was quite cold, it was still enjoyable. One area for improvement would be supervision around the children’s pool. There is no lifeguard assigned there, which I can understand, but having a staff member present would be useful, particularly when some children are left unsupervised and their behaviour begins to affect the experience and safety of others. I was also concerned by the supervision at the main pool. The lifeguards do not appear to have full visibility of all areas of the pool from their positions, and on several occasions seemed more focused on their phones than actively monitoring swimmers. During our stay, I witnessed children being submerged in the paddling area. Thankfully their parents intervened immediately, but it highlighted what felt like a weakness in pool supervision. It may be beneficial to position lifeguards around different areas of the pool rather than having them remain in a single location. Food and drink options were excellent, with plenty of variety available throughout our stay. However, on the Turkish-themed evening in the restaurant, my wife discovered raw chicken on the buffet. This was reported to staff immediately, and while they dealt with the issue, it was concerning to encounter. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and a special mention goes to Pepe, who provided outstanding service and always made us feel welcome. One suggestion for improvement would be to install designated areas for families to leave prams and pushchairs. All of the apartments have stairs leading to them, which means pushchairs are often left in walkways and communal areas. Despite a few shortcomings, we had a lovely holiday and the strengths of the resort, particularly for families with young children, outweighed the negatives. With some attention to the accommodation, WiFi reliability, room maintenance, and pool supervision, this could easily be a five-star family experience.
